I was told by BoFA that only my minimum payment would go towards my balance transfer amount. And I have 12 months to pay $2400. How to handle this?

I've never even heard of a Balance Transfer Credit Card but I don't think I will get one because I want to just use my Credit Card that I have instead and try to use it carefully and not just spend it like crazy instead of getting another card and having to pay more debt on top of that.
