I’ll never understand how when the sims 4 first came up the sims team was hyping up three wall heights and now I feel like they only ever focus on short wall height
Except for the fact all their buildings were anything but short wall height before they started hiring simmers
There aren’t a lot of players that use the taller wall heights.
@@Deus_ex_lucifina We cant use tall wall height if there isn't anything to decore them with
@@Deus_ex_lucifina disagree. All the best front doors are for the medium wall height (strangerville and university)
I hate playing on three wall height. The apartments? omg... It just doens't work in in the way we play watching from above
Speaking of attics, I think it would be really cool if we could get a pull ladder to enter into an attic or crawl space.
I was just thinking that. It would be really cool. Especially for legacy houses 😍
omg id loveee that maybe there’s some cc out there like that
@@josieblue I'm pretty sure there is a trellis in the high school years pack that doesn't look bad as decor and also functions as a ladder. I use it for attics all the time.
Eco Living has ladders that you can do that with. 🪜
should’ve came with tiny living!
I think the basement kit would be good for like a teen hangout spot like an abandoned house and some teens find it and tried to renovate it
That 70's show 😜
i actually did do this with my teens, i built an old rundown warehouse for my son and his friends that they "renovated" with lots of messy and eclectic furniture and stuff so this kit would be perfect for that
Or for like a teenage runaway challenge where a teenager is mad at their parents so they run away from home and go to their deceased grandparents' old 50s house and have to try to renovate it and what not.
Im a frog too
Ooh I love that idea
hey simsie! as a simmer without the kits, the roof trims do have the extra swatches. hope you see this!
I was about to say this. I had been in the middle of building when the update happened. Let it update and started building again and was so confused.
im so pleased that they are base game trims
they should’ve made the heart bed repairable, i get that’s a lot to ask but that would’ve been so cool
A lot to ask? Its a bed
Yeah, like the item you could buy and build your car from scratch!
yes like the tree house in growing together!
I wanna repair ALL the things that look _like_ functional objects that the Sims could use, so bad! The bed, the TV and even the phone! :(
@@findingbrooki 😂😂
Some things that would've been really cool for the basement kit:
- storm shelter doors you could put a ladder under to lead into the basement
- if Sims with high handiness could fix the broken TV and heart bed
Alas, a girl can dream...
the idea of fixing up the heart bed is AMAZING i wish they went for that!
You are saying things I was thinking about as she went through the basement pack😅
well i guess the broken up bed is not meant to be repaired and neither is the tv, even though those are good ideas for gameplay. but clearly bringing back the old bed but broken and unusable is just a way of EA showing how far they've come and putting a little easteregg in the game, to make people remember of times long passed and that -- won't -- come back, so that's why you can't fix it. probably.
Both of these kits 100% feel like CC packs, in the best way. The Sims team is finally understanding that we like having lots of broken/unbroken options, matching swatches, and clutter.
They really missed an opportunity to add a proper 70s dark wood paneling wallpaper to the basement kit. 😁
YEEEES 😩 I love that kind of paneling so much. I'd use the wallpaper way too much 😂
That would’ve changed my sims conversation pit in the best way. 😭
I got the kits today and noticed the retro lamp snaps to the wall like a wall light for some reason, so I’d say stressful aura is accurate, 11/10 stressful energy right there
The fact that EA gives us so little that we get excited by an extra door says a lot.
What?? We are getting 4 kits in 5 months and we just got an expansion pack. What are you complaining about?
@@craftykatie9624 Exactly my point. They COULD have taken the time to add these things into the expansion packs that we pay for, but instead they like to release these kits with a few items and make us pay extra.
I'm sorry but this is a ridiculous stance . Sims is one of the few games that gives you regular updates , free content with deliveries and updates for social awareness like gender pronouns, sexuality . Skin conditions etc . As an avid gamer , not a lot of games do that at all especially with free updates and content . The game is expensive that's for sure but to say we barley get anything is a lie
@@kbs3491 I agree with you, but we had to wait YEARS for a skintone update! I don't like complaining abt this game becwuse we r lucky to get what we had gotten, but it's a joke we had to wait for the skintones to actually be inclusive and the sexualitys. Both of these should have been in launch imo.
Not to mention the additional bugs.
I'm excited to actually have messy furniture
Yeah but also 69th like 😂😂😂😊
same. building crappy old houses is my favorite thing to do in sims
Same ! It expends role-play possibilities ! Wanna make a student's flat or some shady lair for criminals ? Well you need broken stuff.
Me too, I feel like a lot of furniture in game looks too new and... cartoony?
Cant wait to make an official crackhouse :)
Basement Treasures is literally like you had your sims from Sims 4 with relatives lived on Sims 1... I loved that
Then you will LOVE the ,,Loading Bar Extender Kit“! Just 299$! Bet you’ll preorder!
@@gabiausten8774 dawg what?
@@saqqaraonice its a joke...
@@lilyisonline i wasn't speaking to you but okay.
@@lilyisonline jokes are funny tho
I think the Basement Kit will go very well with the Stuff we got with Werewolves. It’s all scratched up and broken.
Yes this inspired me too for the same reason!!
Yeah, the Basement Kit, the Werewolf Pack, and some items from basegame that are also worn and/or dented. I think Cottage Living also has some items that would make a great combo with these.
They fit really well! I tried building a sketchy looking bar with mostly just the Basement Kit, werewolves and base game and it sure is giving „best homemade beer in town but someone might stab you“ lol
I kinda love how they really focused on the green aspect of green house 😂
Doesn't get much greener XD
Green is the best they must love green cause if u didn’t ur this ☠️
I’m so excited for the basement pack. I love having my young adult sims move out to the little needs TLC apartments in San myshuno and just giving them grungy, shabby furniture. It’s so fun for storytelling and the basement pack is gonna be perfect for that.
I know gameplay in kits is like beating a dead horse, but what would have been really amazing is if they would have added the ability to "restore" the broken-down items. That would have been such a great addition to the game, where certain items if you find them in a basement, old house, or even at a vintage shop, you could have the sim work to restore them to their former glory (like how you can change a crib into a toddler bed) to place in their house. I know that's too much to ask, but it would have really changed the dynamic of the basement treasures kit so much with much more incentive for people to buy. Also, what a great way to add the sims 1 heart bed into the game as an easter egg for players who've played the game for so long as nostalgia. Not only is the bed in the game, it's a nod to it being a "vintage" item that sims can find and restore haha. As a plant lover and gardener I'm so unbelievably disappointed in the greenhouse kit it's not even funny, so I'm not even going to comment. Usually I would buy anything plant related in the sims just off my sheer need for more plant items and gameplay in the game, but this just feels like such a lazy kit, I'm not wasting money on it.
my thoughts exactly
This would’ve been a great opportunity for cross compatibility with eco lifestyle imo
Right? When I saw the disassembled bed I thought that’s what they were hinting at with that last line, but nope!
PREACH because this is such a good ass idea 😭 I'm so sick of them giving us heartless empty items
@@magimerlyn9596 Probably hinting at it coming in a future pack lol
When she said "I was 6 months old..." while The Sims 1 was coming out.....That hit me right in the childhood, I have so many memories of playing the sims every waking moment possible and BEGGING my mom/dad to buy every expansion pack the day they came out.
I remember how the makin magic came out, I was like 8… man, that music from the magic town brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it 🥲
@Chyrchhella Makin Magic is an all time favorite of mine, still to this day. I remember spending every waking moment just GRINDING for MagiCoins to buy the residential lots in Magic Town. And designing the most ridiculous rollercoasters built all around my entire lot surrounded by crazy buildings and landscaping and pools/ponds. 😂😝
I was in highschool... I got expansion packs when I had good grades in Math :D
Man, I feel old now, I was in my 20s lol
I don't own any kits because of the ridiculous pricing, but honestly the basement kit is one I'm totally getting. It's a super unique style that I think could be really useful in builds!
Same!! These are seriously the first one I actually thought about buying
especially since they never go on sale. The only time I ever buy anything is when it's on sale
Same i like building abandoned houses and this is right up my alley me buying a kit wasn't on my 2023 bingo card 😂
I get what you mean but the kits are only 7 dollars aren’t they? that’s not that much money in my country.
@@taylorbeamish5177 not really worth it though as half of it should either be updates to existing packs or doesn’t have enough in it to be worth that much
I don’t know why I always watch these videos knowing Kayla will talk about how often she’s going to use items and how versatile and great they are, only to build maybe 2 houses with them and never touch the packs again.
the green with the grids is really giving sims 2 greenhouse wall vibes
I just got to that part of the video and DUDE! You were _not_ kidding. That was absolutely the first thing I thought, too--that she just slapped down a Sims 2 greenhouse into the Sims 4!
...now if only we could have proper PlantSims back...
We the TheSims2 community keep saying "The sims 4 could NEVAH" and they fucking took that to heart
Sims 2 player here. The greenhouse kit is exactly what I want in the Sims 4. I totally missed the medium sized door when I went through it though!
as someone who loves building "abandoned" places in the sims, the basement kit is so good!!
agreed creepy old basements are my fave to build lmao
I really wish they would separate the Kits out into separate categories like they do the other packs in build/buy mode and CAS. There's so many now that it really needs to be done. Fingers crossed they do it soon...at least I hope they do it eventually
Do you mean filter by individual kits like you can filter by individual/Specific Expansion Packs,Game Packs and Stuff Packs.?
@@King.of.BattleshipsI think that's what they meant
@@King.of.Battleships Yes
@NostalgicNerd2019 Why did they not just do that from the beginning? Why did they put all the kits all together on one filter.?
There is a mod called Better BuildBuy by TwistedMexi and it separates the kits out their own categories and has some other build buy features that are life savers! I would recommend it if you use mods in your game :)
i think they should make a bundle feature for kits where you can buy several of them for a cheaper price. they would actually kinda seem worth the money if you could buy like 3 of them at once and save money that way. like a 3-for-2 thing or just a cheaper price in general. maybe there could even be some sort of stackable effect where the more kits you buy the more of a discount you get? idk, just spitballing ideas here
The kits are giving stoner hangout vibes🍃
What a great release day for the vibe 🤣
Plants + basement + 4/20 release = 😉
Too much of a coincidence to not be planned
Lol it’s like a inside joke for them 😮 definitely not a coincidence (also I believe it’s earth month/day)
@@yazzybananas3106that good-good kinda earth 😏😏😏

I like both the kits, I just wish the greenhouse came with triangle windows for the roof part. I also would have liked to see more swatches for the windows and stuff like that... Basement kit has some cool broken items that I can see myself using. I do still think they're kind of expensive for what they are...
The basement kit feels so,,,human? Idk if that makes sense but all the weathering makes the items feel so alive
Yess! I hate how a lot of the things in the Sims are very basic and perfect looking. I've been really wanting more rundown items
The greenhouse kit on 4/20 is pure gold
Plus the basement. A subtle tribute to us stoner simmers 😂💚
both of these were my exact thoughts, also the basement pic reminds me of that 70s show👀
hotboxing 101
I do wish they a) did a bundle deal with the kits or b) did a Plants Stuff Pack which could have had this and the Blooming Rooms. They could have put all of these clutter kits into a Stuff Pack too
Those creator codes are so stupid. If they made them be a coupon + creator getting money that's one thing, but to make the buyer pay full price and not get any benefits other than to see their favorite creator get more money is really stupid.
I love having my sims have a greenhouse and be florists. This greenhouse kit is everything I've wanted! I'm so excited
The basement pack is perfect for my "off to college" or "just starting out" young adults.
I got this feeling we are going to get the heart bed with the newest update
The tease in the description for the broken one..."who knows, maybe we can restore it some day"
I thought the exact same thing when I read the description
"hot new update" "maybe we can restore it" im crossing my fingers lol
i would be surprised if that isn’t what the “hot update” is at this point
@@koreyhoss6907 I'd be so upset if the heart bed is the only part of the 'hot update' I really want a caliente refresh 😭
Simsie has to make a Pots Pot Patio now for her not so berry challenge
a potio
Pink gen will be on a farm if all goes according to plan.
You need to make a grandparents' house using the kits!. They like to garden, and they've got a bunch of "treasures" in the basement/attic.
Edit: As a sims 1 player I'm loving the easter eggs, but I admit, I thought the heart bed came with hot date? Makes me want to go back and play 🖤🥹
@DuogDougyou reply on literally ever comment lol
I’m going to buy the basement kit to build the 70s show house
In the sims 1 it came with Living large. Sims 2 apartment life and the Sims 3 High-End Loft stuff. I didnt have hot date but had the heart bed ^^
Honestly I’m kinda sad we don’t have a version that works. It would work perfectly in some people’s modded strip clubs, but it would also be a silly little woohoo bed in general.
It's definitely from Livin' Large because I had the heart bed but not Hot Date as a kid.
I love that they’re adding slots to most things now. They updated yesterday and made the toilet, bathtubs, , & sinks have better slotting.
...wait really? Are you saying I could now actually put the cup of toothbrushes clutter _on the sink corner_, instead of needing a whole other counter for it? Like how I'd place them IRL?
That's been a little pet peeve of mine for a while with this game, lol. Adorable common everyday bathroom clutter and the inability to place it where you want. :P
@@robinchesterfield42 yea. Most sinks let you place something on the corner but as u know…a lot wouldn’t. So now you can place ur toothbrush on the corner, bottles and duckies on the corner of the bathtub, & a candle or tp on the back of a toilet
Omg the screened windows!!! I’m wondering if you could make a closed in chicken coop thing? 👀 I feel like that could look cool as well. Lots of people have them closed in like that
I'm actually planning to do that 😁
My main problem with kits is that they don't have any offers or sales. I only buy packs when the are on sale and most of the times I do the thing where you get one of each (one expansion pack, one game pack and one stuff pack) and pay like 40 bucks cause for the amount of new things you get from those 3 it's more worth the money, in my opinion at least.
However they have been neglecting stuff packs( and game packs kinda) and only focusing on new kits and expansion packs and there's no way to bundle them all together. I've kinda ran out of game packs that i would like to have cause they are pretty old now so I haven't bought any kind of packs in a while now, even though there's expansion packs and stuff packs and honestly kits too that i would kill to have. Idk maybe they could do a deal like an expansion pack + a kit or two kits for a reasonable price to work as an incentive for people to buy the kits cause it would definitely work on me lol
I like the items in the basement treasures kit, but I am sad that some of the items don't have any "newer looking," non broken swatches (especially the tv's and the lamps)!
Me too. I'm a bit of a "retro simmer" most of my houses are 60s/70s themed so it would've been nice to have guess I'll stick to using CC :((
@@FreddyKruegerTheDreamDemon exactly!
there should've been a functional TV. Lots of people fix up old stuff & people who do historical homes could've gotten some use out of it. It's so lazy that it's not even a usable TV
@@GONEmypurpleflapjackthere was a functional TV in the kit
@@GONEmypurpleflapjack there is tho? The console is not usable but the square tv works
The furniture in the 2nd kit brought back memories of being a broke college kid and having mixed matched furniture that was all worn out.
The heart bed is so nostalgic. I remember playing the sims 1 as a teenager. This brought back so many memories.
Of COURSE they gave us a greenhouse kit (with plenty of pots) and a basement kit (because where else would you smoke pot) on 4/20. I love it. Thanks for reviewing the kits!
The screened versions of the windows is something I've been wanting since I too live in an area where screened porches exist. Wondering if the door also has a screened door version. My eyesight isn't good enough to tell from the video and I didn't hear Kayla say
It did! I saw it on one of the go throughs
Now I want a hotels pack so I can build a rundown motel with items basement treasures and werewolves (and strangerville... and maybe vampires...) 😫
+ that weird dirty roach infested bed from eco lifestyle
Excellent, I always wait for your reviews before I buy a kit!
The bathroom clutter, every day clutter, and now this basement kit could have all been in one Stuff Pack.
true..
Did you notice the fan spins!! Ahhh! Also I’m immediately going to try to make a pool lanai with those screen pieces!
The basement kit is really giving me that 70s show basement vibes 😅😍
Kayla- lists 20 ways to use old box with no thought. Me- “this old box is cute but what do I do with it?” 🤣🤣🤣
I love that these pieces (some of them) give off auras. You can use it to tell a story of your sims reminiscing. It will cause your sims to go through all the emotions in a short time. If they look at the trophies they will feel confident, then look at the bed and feel flirty. Just like you would in real life, looking back on old photos.
Did anyone else notice that the one floral-y patterned couch totally matches that new rug in Growing Together? That's such a cool little detail!
Some of these items were probably rejected or cut out items from other packs XD
I knew I'd like the greenhouse kit, but I'm also convinced now that I'll actually like the basement kit. And also I'll have to build the Foreman/That 70s Show house
OMG i think that regular heart bed is this "hot basegame update"! ;D (hopefully)
We should be able to open the windows (just like the doors...). It would also be fun to be able to grow decorative plants (for exemple you buy the pot and it has 3 stages).
I played sims 1 when it first came out and I LOVE seeing the bed in there! I’m hoping it comes back in the next Hot update!
long post but guys, i am so tired... idk where else to share my frustration.
greenhouse should have just been in seasons (and basement should have been in werewolves with that aesthetic tbh) idc if its been years, just update the expansion and give it to people for free, we didnt get a world with that expansion and the sims packs are just too many and too expensive to keep justifying these things. i really like this content but im not paying for it when i paid for seasons AND romantic garden stuff pack AND outdoor retreat - gardening is a base game skill, and greenhouses and sheds are in like every family home, its not niche like moroccan courtyard, its generic and would fit into a multitude of different packs already and appeal to almost every player. do a pack refresh for any of those packs and put it in there, especially if theyre not even going to bother and give a full window and door set of those beautiful windows for all three heights. ugh im just so done. i appreciate the video and getting to see whats in it but i just cant be excited when i cant afford to keep up with sims packs and know i'll never get to play with this lol. i have almost every pack up until snowy escape i cant keep letting them milk me for pennies when they fall short of giving anything back to loyal players.
Kayla saying “This pack is fun!” Pinged something for me. This isn’t a pack. I’m not saying don’t be excited, but recognize that they are selling these kits at pack prices and they don’t even have half the stuff of a stuff pack to be half the price of the abandoned stuff pack genre. Flickering lamp is cool, but neither of these kits are getting my money because they feel like add-ones of other kits that could have been sold together at a stuff pack price. And that price would have made sense to me even if it was solely a BB pack or a CAS pack.
I saw a bunch of people being so upset about the heart bed being broken and unusable. But they did sneak another retro throw back item in that kit. If you look at the plant with the blue vase, it's also from the sims 1. I used that plant so much. I was excited to see them bring it back :)
🙌 So glad I wasn't the only one excited for that plant, that's what sold me. I used it to death back in the day 😂
I'm so excited about the improvement in the sims in general. They've really been doing so good lately (in my opinion)
what improvements ? I only see bug after bug. I am glad my game dont updated automatically.
You mean giving us crumbs and people praising them for doing the bare minimum? Yeah sure
@@pixelatedtoast I said in my opinion. To each their own
@@augusto7681 I've been having no issues 🤷🏼♀️
A lot of the broken basement clutter and furniture would go so well with the werewolves pack furniture. Also for dream home decorator, for a drastic change maybe to renovate a living room, you can make it look worse with the basement furniture and take before photos, and then make it look very nice and take after photos.
The shadows look so pretty with the glass roof on the greenhouse
I don't know if you noticed but the swatches on the heart bed for the two blankets (the black and the red) are from the sims 2!
I have every single kit because I like a few items from each one 😂 and i was waiting your video to come and decide whether it’s worth buying ❤
Oh wow! I think I'm actually going to get these kits! I feel like the greenhouse one was made for you, lilsimsie. I've been wanting to try gardening more so that will help. And the nod to older sims games with the basement kit makes me so happy!
omg, that screen variant is gonna be so good for sun porches!
They finally did screens!!! That needs more swatches; needs to be it's own thing. I've been using Peacemaker's screens for a long time for screened in porches, they're brilliant. Those double doors with the transom would be awesome doubled up on commercial builds, schools, etc. I'm sold on the steamer trunk alone. Love Stanley making himself comfy with his future furniture.
I think the problem with simsie reviews (and most gamechangers) is they're getting the packs regardless. Even if they didn't get the packs for free, they'd buy them all anyway because they literally play the sims for a living. Simsie is just excited to have new stuff to build with, which makes sense! To her, a new kit is exciting in the same way a free update is exciting to the rest of us. But obviously this is a different natural reaction to those of us who can't buy all the dlc. Every time Kayla says "I will use this item all the time", all I can think is "great, more simsie builds I won't be able to download..."
Well she's got plenty of basegame builds, she already stresses about limited pack builds. You don't only need to download her stuff.
My teen sim is getting ready to age up and move out to a “needs tic” apartment and I’m so excited for the busted down furniture
That’s what I thought! I’m playing the nsb challenge, and that would be perfect for the orange gen (even tho I’m only on the grey gen lol)
im so obsessed with the new kits. love them already
Greenhouse kit has a lot of potential but it's so barebones that I could never spend 5 -bucks on just visual and non-interractive stuff. I'd prefer supporting a CC creator that puts a lot of passion and care in their stuff.
Said this before and I’ll say it again, they should not be releasing packs when others are still broken. Owning all the packs used to be a novelty and something to be proud of, but now this game costs like $1,000 to have it completely.
This is a very exciting day. Thank you so much for sharing, Kayla! My favorite kit is the greenhouse kit. Very cute clutter stuff and the single door!!!!!! But the emotional aura thing with the flickering lamp and the old but gold vibrating bed is absolutely cool!
The basement one is pretty weird but I guess it will be fun to decorate your house with it for storyline
I use the industrial loft kit in almost every build. And I rarely use pastel pop kit. I do have all the kits except a few of the newer cas. Knifty knitting and bust the dust are probably my favorite. I use them both in every build.
As fun as these kits are, they feel like SUCH a cash grab. All of this stuff could have easily been a part of the Growing Together expansion, so I'm honestly getting a bit of a My First Pets Stuff 2.0 feeling
The problem with MFPS is that it includes content that literally isn’t usable if you don’t have Cats & Dogs. There isn’t anything in these packs that doesn’t function if you don’t own Growing Together. Definitely a cash grab though, you are correct about that
I think major reason they are a cash grab is they are just average "items". There isn't many object in kits which comes with a gameplay feature. (maybe there are objects which have gameplay features in other kits I am not sure, I don't really play TS4 much) Considering this, one should better download free CCs or support great creators via patreon etc. instead of buying kits.
I LOVE that mirror in basement kit!!! I feel like it would go really well in a farmhouse, which is my favorite
Its crazy the mixed reviews, I just watched someone saying these kits have shown how much of a cash grab the sims is. You can get much better kits for FREE from cc creators. The sims for has lost its spark and drive for the sims. The sims 3, this would be insanely underwhelming but because the sims has made packs so small, this is fine to us. If you want to own all the DLC, it costs 1k, in what world is a game worth that much. Are we really paying money for a few planter boxes and windows and calling it worth it?
Having a greenhouse kit and not putting in any gable windows feel’s like a big miss for me. And adding a gabled roof decor without windows actually feels like I am being taunted. 😂
Ever since seasons came out with the glass roofs I have built greenhouses and every time I think, “this would look ten times better if there was not a big windowless space under the gabled roof.”
I get that it is hard to make those windows versatile due to it determining the angle of the roof but I still think it would be worth it even if they had just added the one window. It could have been just like the gabled roof decor but with glass instead of paneling.
I'm disappointed that Greenhouse Haven doesn't include new garden pots/planters (I don't know what it's called in English). We haven't had any in a looong time
the basement kit is literally my poverty childhood vibes
I haven't been a fan of the kits recently because they're ridiculously priced (nearly $8 in my country) but these kits are so cute! I genuinely love the screen windows on the windows and the doors, this feels so close to home for me! And the basement kit feels so homey and nostalgiac! I feel like the basement kit would be so good for more rundown homes, especially with the stains and cracks!
As a person who lives in the midwest where everyone has a basement, I highly approve of the basement kit. Every item is very accurate 😂
That super old broken TV was a staple back when I was growing up. Everyone had one. They weighed like 200 pounds, so instead of moving them when they broke and got replacements, we just put the new TVs on top of the old broken one. It was more common to have that giant tv be broken than to have it still work. It's like the cookie tin filled with sewing supplies, everyone had one.
Really curious if the worn items will be available at the city living flea markets!
it might be cool to have a higher chance of finding the worn items when dumpster diving too!
I like the flickering light. For the $5 dollars I'd be less irritated with 2 or 3 functional items.
Ex: new gardening pot shapes, functional to plant in, would've taken this to the next level. This is still a _game_
Kayla actually seeming excited over the bare minimum, bottom of the barrel considerations being made.. absolutely insane how much they’ve detonated this franchise where people are actually excited about the bare minimum lmao
THANK YOU
It's nice to really see what all the new kits have and how they are in gameplay...because I WAS super-excited about the Basement kit, 'cos YAY, AWESOME! Proper retro furniture! Stuff that doesn't look cartoonishly pristine!
...but then, they fumbled it in the end zone! Why...why is everything PERMAbroken? I wanna fix that TV! I wanna fix that bed! Does the little TV with the antennae actually work as a TV? Simsie never actually had Stanely turn it on and watch it, so now I'm worried about that too.
And I know it's not necessary, but GOD DAMMIT I wanna fix that phone too! We don't _need_ house phones, I know, but I friggin' want one! Without having to resort to mods! (CC is amazing, but if you use it in a build you want to put on the gallery, you automatically exclude most people from having even a _chance_ to see it.)
I...I just...it's so disappointing. :( I get the "basement treasures" thing means old and broken, but....can't we have actual REAL, functional, retro stuff? Like legit decorate a house like it's the 1970s or something? Do a generational/over-time thing with a family? With the basegame wooden panelling on the walls? That'd be so adorable!
I really wanted it and now that I know that most of it is JUST decoration...I'm _so_ much less interested. Decoration is nice, but I only have so many surfaces to put clutter on before it starts taking up valuable counter space and such. A WORKING landline phone, however, i'd _make_ room for.
So...now I'm glad I didn't just impulsively spend five bucks as soon as I saw it pop up on my Sims 4 homepage. Thanks, LilSimsie.
...and seriously, Sims team: MAKE. THE THINGS. REPAIRABLE. I know that takes more work, but it'd be really cool if the "lost treasures" didn't have to _stay_ just memories, but could have new life again.
me after watching simsie: yeah seems ok
me after watching any other reviewer: oh this is actually not very good
its so cool that they have fresh swatches and worn swatches for the stuff in the basement kit. really adds to the story aspect of the game. one gen could have the fresh photo of the pancakes wedding and then the grand kid can have the broken photo in the basement
I think the build kits are getting a lot better. I haven't bought one yet but I have been a lot more tempted to by a few.
I honestly think it's absurd that greenhouse kit doesn't have any planters or flower arranging table. Like sure, it looks nice but you can't do anything with it so I don't see much difference between that any custom content (which is often free).
The basement stuff will be super useful for haunted/abandoned houses/buildings
Especially the flickering lamps
SO I haven't seen anyone comment this, which is there is then cool I just didn't see it. But the swatches she is talking about at 11:24 is actually base game. I haven't bought the kit yet (really want to tho!) So I can 100% confirm base game.
there's a lot of stuff in these kits that I would use but I can't justify spending money on the sims with The State of Things :(
I was honestly pretty disappointed in both kits, which is unfortunate because I was initially really excited for the greenhouse one.
I knew they wouldn't have a ton of content, kits never really do, but for $7 I expected a little more than what was given.
That could just be because of how I like to play, though, so I hope other people love them a lot and find use in them.
Somewhat excited to see what the other 2 are, maybe they'll be more beneficial for my gameplay
I realized something. I thought the "take me home" thing would be horses but it probably gonna be stuff from old sims games!
Omg I hope so!! I would much rather have a nostalgia pack than horse pack!! 🥹 like PLEASE give me some (functional!!!!) sims 1 & 2 items I beg you 🥺
the basement pack and some ideas I came up with ( art related ) - the canvas/pictures leaning on the mirror could be used in an art area, and the records could be used as sketchbooks or drawings. The boxes or travelers trunk could be used as if old painting and drawing supplies were in there. The bags could be used in there too, it makes me think of same with the boxes but also maybe like money in there and just a easier way to online shop or something. hope you like my ideas :D
I don't even play The Sims, but I like watching these videos. I really enjoy watching Kayla get so happy over things like windows and doors!😆😀😁
I moved my sims’ uncle into their basement yesterday, using a lot of stuff from this kit. He’s an engineer and does all of his robotics tinkering down there, which gives a cool mix between old basement furniture and new technology, I think! :) I hooked up a games console to the old squaretube TV and seeing him playing a racing game on it with his niece was so cute.
Not gonna lie, i already have all of the greenhouse furniture from custom content. Dont waste your money on this.
