One of the main problem with the w163. Had the abs bas/esp light on. I own 3 w163. The ml270 have the wires by the abs unit exposed and cut. The 2nd ml270 seems to have similar issue as described here so I will be checking it and the 3rd ml500 had the brake switch fault. Thank you for the video
Lights just came on today. When I bought my ml500 the wiper fluid was empty. Turns out it was empty because it was leaking. So, just to mention there is a rebuild guy on ebay who will rebuild your module/motor if needed. I dont have any codes yet, hoping i can just clean it up and wipe it down but that just seems too easy. Thanks loads for this video! Oh and NUTS to mercedes for putting the washer pumps below the washer fluid level so it would be sure to leak on the electronics when the gaskets got old.
Sadly motor, pump and solenoid module all seem fine. Rumour is there are lots of sensors that could set off BAS/ESP, ETS, ABS lights. And figuring out which one without just replacing them until the lights go off means I need to get a diagnostic done$ or buy a diagnostic tool myself. It seems like I am going to need the diagnostic tool. Do you have any suggestions? It also looks like it is getting very hard and expensive to find older sensor replacements. In my case 2003. Used sensors seem so risky....... Any suggestions for a good place to get MB parts? Let the fun begin!
thank you so much. my esp bas lights been on a while..put tape over them // now park brake and round glowing sensor light on.. ill get onto it.Yes I've had a long time windscreen washer bottle leak...What if i spray some CR20 electric cleaner in there when i pull it open??
Sometimes it’s just as simple as swapping the K27 relay for the K25 relay under the bonnet. That’s all I had to do. To get rid of the dash warning lights I found it on another video on TH-cam.
Hi how did it go with bleeding the brakes, I've got a sinking pedal, so removed the complete unit, also found the coloured solinoids don't come out, l presume the rods on the block are fixed and must be guides as they seem to be fixed ! So the valves must be the spools that are pulled up by the coloured solinoids, they have lines and numbers stamped on them, but just couldn't get them out. Also fitted new brushes to the motor, all 3 lights were ON. Cleaned and sprayed water repellant into solinoids and PC board through a couple of holes in the plastic housing, re assembled and fitted the whole unit , and bleed brakes, brake pedal still sinking, my next test is to blank off the 2 big pipes from the master cylinder, on the ABS unit, with small ball bearings. And see if pedal will stay at a point, and not sink with foot pressure, have to leave plug connected to ABS unit and engine at idle as there is no pressure on pedal! This will show if its the ABS fault or the master cylinder is bypassing internally...
Note: the ABS lights all 3 OFF after refitting the ABS unit, but pedal still sinks !! Will advise the result after the test for a faulty master cylinder...
Joe, I have the same symptoms but consistently get C1300. I have done most repairs suggested on the web, starting with K25 and most recently a used ESP module. Same C1300 comes up, I did see a C1314 a couple of times. Any procedure on how to check or replace the ESP/ABS wiring harness?
Have you changed the transmission connector? Also how about the brushes in the abs motor. I have never done a esp/abs wiring harness. What about the component with solenoids I replaced in this video have you tried that?
@@joesnowmobiles I have not replaced or cleaned the solenoid themselves but my latest theory is that the brake lamp switch is causing the error. I have a bad habit of pressing the brake pedal unevenly. Long story about how I deduced this because I never had the switch code and lights work. However I have been focusing on pressing the brake evenly and so far the problem has basically gone away, been a few weeks. I have a replacement switch and will check for loose pedal assembly. If my old switch is dirty I hear cleaning the MBZ part might be better than OEM but will see soon. Thank you for being curious and putting out W163 repair helps!
I think I'm going to wrapmy ABS unit with aluminum foil or something as a preventative maintenance, before it goes bad from a leaking tank. Mine isn't leaking but it seem alot of people have these kinds of trouble and it's only a matter of time before mine does start to eventually leak.
I have that problem but I fix it by replacing the part that is in front of the fuse box driver side It was not the ABS module it was an electronic part in front of the fuses
I really hate this video for so many reasons and I couldn't even finish it. The narrator appears oblivious or doesn't know what he's doing. He doesn't explain his steps or process of elimination. The guy is all-over the place. He needs to explain what he's doing and more importantly why. Also, the objective is to repair something, doess he at least accomplish the repaor?

What do you use to clean it ???? The corrosion.
The wires in the back brake of the plug in to the grommet and disconnect. Trigger light esp/abs light

Thanks for the video brother. Means alot and very helpful. Just curious did you ever get the lights to go off?
@@Southcharlotteservices yes all lights off!
Hey, Joe
I know this is over a year old but did you have to reprogram the module after you installed the newer one?
You do not have to reprogram. Hope that helps
@@joesnowmobiles Thanks for the prompt response i was finally able to fix my issue after a long 8 years thank you sir

That is a a great idea!
W163 tractıon control does not could this be the problem
For sure, see if you can pull some codes that will tell you if you can find some.
