*****: You are doing well. I have some constructive criticism for you though. 1. Stop e-braking. You are in an underpowered car e-braking going uphill into a drift. Momentum is everything for you when you are driving with a KA. You need to use everything that car can give you and momentum is important. Go in fast and clutch kick. If you are too scared to attempt this, go into the turn like you are racing. Go in as fast as you can without breaking and just as you reach the apex, give it more gas. This should make the rear end come out and you are drifting through the turn at a higher rate of speed. As you get more comfortable, start gassing earlier eventually clutch clicking into the turn. I would not suggest a beginner to use the e-brake right away. You need to learn how to set yourself up for the turn and through the turn with steering and throttle only. E-braking comes later when you have mastered those previous points. 2. Give yourself room. It looks like a beginner group, so why are you trying to chase the guy in front of you? You almost crash because you are trying to move forward too quickly. Master driving on your own first then move on to tandem. By giving yourself space, if someone spins out ahead you should have plenty of time before you reach them. If they have time to move before you get there you won't have to stop drifting which means more seat time for you. Use every second you have up there. 3. Don't be afraid to mess up. This kind of goes with what I already touched on point 1. The best way to learn your limits or your car's limits is to push them. Enter a little faster, hold the throttle a little bit longer. Find out what happens when you don't ebrake and instead mash the throttle. Doing this might lead to some spin outs and off track excursions but it will teach you so much about how to react to certain situations. How can you know what to do if you have never been there before? 4. Your hands are all over the place. Calm and relaxed driving is better driving. If you watch pro drivers, they can go into a turn flick the wheel then let go and grab it again once angle has been set. This is because they have mastered their vehicles and learned what it takes to perform such a feat. You can do exactly what they do if you focus on your movements and actively limit unnecessary ones. Let the wheel do it's job. Sometimes it looks like you are trying to give it more of a spin but all you end up doing is holding onto it as it pulls and it kind of messes you up. Let the wheel do it's job. Once the wheel begins to rotate, let it rotate, then focus on when it is important to grab it again. Your fumbling is due to not knowing how much angle you need. This is something that will come with seat time. All of the above are opinions on helping you learn properly so you don't learn bad habits. You are doing well for a beginner so don't take anything I said as a put down. Also, you were having tons of fun so that's most important. Keep it up.
Thanks guys! @Jay I tried giving as many outside shots as possible, but the outside view on run 6 was not zoomed in with the camera. So when trying to zoom it in with the editing software it become really grainy and so the footage just wasn't good enough to show :/
Dude, I'm really amazed on how much you improved. I'm from Argentina, and we don't have many japanese cars here, and the ones we get are too expensive to trash around in a circuit. I bought an abandoned Celica TA40, 1.6 litre, and i've been fixing it for more than a year. Every time something bad happens with the car (which is VERY usual) I get a bit depressed. But then, I come here, I see your videos, and it's that little push on my back that drives me to keep on doing it. I hope I can make it work, weld the diff and learn how to drift. Keep on being awesome dude, you are a role model.
Bro. You made me so proud in this vid dude, been watching since day 1 of the build always voiced my opinion but this took the cake! Dude the improvement you've made from episode 3 just to episode 4 on this track , ken block better watch his ass cuz you'll be drifting right up behind him some day lol! But this was epic bro! Gunna watch part 2 now, but from what I've seen so far it's gonna be maaaadddd!! *bro hug (no homo)* keep on keeping on bruh!
B0D0W Lolol thank you so much for all your support! Glad to see you really enjoy the progress, it means a lot to me to see you guys care like that :) I'll get out part 2 as soon as I can! *bro hug (no homo)* right back at ya bruh
Nope not today, probably in a couple days. I need to catch up on other work. Then when I get the chance, I'll spend a day finishing up the second part and have it rendered and uploaded :)
I'm in my room honestly rooting for this dude. He went from "cringe worthy" to FFFFFUUUUCK YEAH. It's so cool to see the progression and the moment he learned gloves are a whole new world. Lol
"This one s13 he's always on me, intimidating" That's a sign that people are feeling comfortable to get close to your links, this means you're actually becoming a much better drifter, and have control.. When people back up, it's usually when they're more in the lines of "Don't get close, you'll t-bone or rear end him" but with you it's more like "hey, lets try and see if i can match his lines" You're getting decent man :) bit more power and you'll get that track down, you really don't need too much more power, just a bit more torque and upper end power.
Jake Best Thanks! I started to realize that as the day progressed which made me feel proud of myself :) And I agree, just enough to be able to link the whole course.
***** haha you're doing really well, that guy in the 350/370z is way too gas happy, baby steps with power and you'll find a sweet spot, remember, keiichi tsuchiya can drift anything with RWD and an engine, it's all in the feel, whenever i've drifted (sorry to say, but illegally lol) i like to throttle brake, i noticed practicing in a straight parking lot (wet makes it easier to learn this momentum) you snap the car to initiate the drift, give it some gas, then flick the wheel opposite direction with a bit of brake to shift the wieght, let the car do the work, i notice sometimes you have to flick the wheel with your hands multiple times to get the car to swing, i think a bit more power and being a bit more relaxed would help you with the wheel rotation.
Jake Best Yea I kind of need to keep flicking the wheels cause if I let go of the wheel it feels like it wants to straighten out. And yea more power and being a bit more relaxed will help. You'll see in Part 2 when my tires start to wear down and lose grip that it becomes a lot more fluid imo.
Keen to see it! Glad theres somebody on youtube who wants to take them through the whole learning process, I remember watching Valera, he started with a stock 200sx/s14, and gradually got better and better, now he's a king haha, you'll be the same.
Been watching since the first build video and it is actually insane how much you have improved in driving AND producing videos. Have nothing bad to say at all man, keep it up, can't wait to watch part 2!
WOW!!!! You have improved a lot in drifting!!!! I love how you type out what you say its funny. Keep up the awesome job and hope you improve your skills and car!!
Dude, this brings a smile to my face. The fact of how far you've come and how much you enjoy this, it's quite overwhelming. Glad to see someone enjoying themselves :D
These learning to drift episodes get more and more exciting to watch as you improve. Makes you feel like you're accomplishing something without even touching a car. Keep up the mad skid! Now try to increase your corner entry speed so you can pull awesome initiations!
Bro you have improved so well! You have motivated me to get better at drifting with my supra. I hope I can get better as fast as you have! Way to kill it out there man!
Great work man! Showing a lot of progress with this one! I like to see that your'e trying new things with your driving and seeing how they change. The gloves might sound stupid to some but I'm right there with ya. Something about having gloves one just seems like it helps. Keep it up, looking forward to part 2!
this track is for the experienced for sure... you did well taking your time and drifting the corners you were comfortable with which is what you should be doing! I'm still perfecting my car / getting dialed in and doing balcony days but I will do horsethief when i'm ready with powaaaaaa
michael cianci Feels good. Right at the point where it's capable of drifting and linking as long as you know how to drive right. Holds solid 2nd gear, 3rd it will bog down in.
Very nice video. It looks like you are making a lot of progress and looking good. I was going to ask if it made you nervous having the other cars on so close to you on the track especially the red s13 but you answered my question on lap 38 when you said it was intimidating. I wish I could be out there too. I am hoping to learn to drift soon also once I have a bit more time and if I can find a track like the ones you have been to near me. Keep up the great work I enjoy watching your build and learning progress.
yo bro I've been watching you since day one, and honestly its really cool to see you improve and get better over the time you've spent learning to drift. keep up the awesomeness my friend!!
i loved this video it was so awesome to watch. dat nissan Z was giving me a good laugh but all in good fun. you did really well kept your car on the track more then some of the big boy toys.
Just stumbled upon this video! I was following you in lap 23. So much fun that day. Keep up the good work with the videos. I'm hooked now and makes me want to work and drive more. Hope to see you at another event. If you plan on going to an event on a weekend I'd love to join. I haven't gone in a while and been itching to go.
***** Oh sweet haha you were in the BMW, that's sick! Hopefully I'll see you out there again. I post on my Instagram and Facebook page when I'm headed to the track next, so if you're interested in coming just follow one of those :) See you out there!
Ive been watching you form video one and your level of improvement is amazing that entry and slide at 4.15 you nailed keep up the good work man i love your videos inspires me not to give up learning and to keep going.
Holy shit, the improvement was visible this time around, great job man. Now, if only I had a car... Probably gonna get one that I can power-oversteer with.
Yo bro this is awesome. I love the progress you made throughout the series and this episode shocked me. Not gonna lie haha. But seriously keep it up and looking forward to those next vids
Just a tip that might help. When you're drifting, you want to follow the same lines as a grip run. Wide going in, and then turn in at the apex. Most of your runs you are hugging in the inner line. #staysideways :)
Haha yes!! On my day off again thanx bro lol got to watch this while I was having breakfast today 😀, I agree you were the best driver out there, I know it's all about the driver and not the cat but you have to take some pride in putting that 370 was is? (I'm watching on my fone) on show! You were all over him, same with the guy with the sr20!
Ryan Skene Actually 350Z and thanks haha I was proud! But I was also in their shoes before so I'm never going to knock them down for getting out there and giving it their best :)
@Lone Wolf (Subiefan4) You have no reply button under your comment :/ Anyways though, it's a GoPro Hero 3+ Silver Edition. 1080P @ 60FPS with the Wide setting. Then using a mic adapter to an Olympus ME-15S mic for the audio.
Joe Fisher buy grandturismo 6 that is a simulator get steering wheel and drift like in real life then when u get the age try it , it will be much easier I started like that :3
That's awesome. I really like my rode smart lav. You have to sync up the audio later which is difficult at times but to be able to clip on a lav and stick the phone in your pocket is super convenient.
moostang09 Yea see in episodes 1 and 2 I had recorded audio inside the car with my phone and it was super difficult to match up the audio after lol. This way is much easier. Thanks for the heads up!
brandoGTR48 Lol I just answered this question on my Snapchat story. If you have Snapchat add me: offbeatgarage and then watch my story. If you don't then let me know and I'll type it out. Thanks!
Aw okay. Well I started following drifting and watching quite a lot of videos in middle school and throughout high school. I mainly just liked it because it wasn't a super serious motorsport and it was all about having fun and just doing what you want. The cars could still be low and look awesome, because it's not 100% about function when out there drifting. And compared to grip driving, drifting is exciting every lap you go out. You're always trying new things and you can run different lines and push yourself. And yea that's basically what got me into it. You can just have fun, do what you want, and on top of that you don't need to have an expensive setup to keep up with guys who have an expensive setup.
You only spun out once, while FR-S and 370Z were driving more in the dirt than on the track haha
February but that could be their first time drifting so...
that lap 6 made me smile!!!! I was like fuck yea he's doing it!!!!!
badass guy with no horsepower 240 showin up the fr-s and 370 big time
He has at least 400 hp.... Remember the exhaust?
Ninja5640 he was at 750 wheel until he removed the stickers
+Ninja5640 he has 140hp
Robert Sanchez its a joke.
I know

Nick Bayati nice advice man
Nick Bayati strongly agree with less e-brake and hands
Now you getting the hang of it! Nice job man!
BIG improvement ! (: that 6th lap !
Chris Rodriguez Right?!
I wanted an outside view of the 6th lap too
Thanks guys! @Jay I tried giving as many outside shots as possible, but the outside view on run 6 was not zoomed in with the camera. So when trying to zoom it in with the editing software it become really grainy and so the footage just wasn't good enough to show :/
Excellent improvement dude! I'm proud of you!
eletor Thanks Jim!
when i saw lap 6 i was sat waiting for your reaction xD it was a pretty sick run dude, you showed them up;)
I'm so happy that there's someone who finally can show those one sided power guys, that you don't need 10000000000 HP+ to drift :D
In round 20 I was like "hold it hold it hold it!! DAMN SO CLOSE" ps. You're my role model, together with Ryan tureck :3
You're improving a lot can't wait for the second part loved the outside views of you drifting.
as an old bugger near 50 your 6th lap made me cheer and smile like a kid. cool series and great too see you improve as you go for it.
Thanks!

I love seeing you're improvement over time in the vids man keep it up. subbed!

Is it easy to drift when you practise a bit?
( thinking of drifting at my local race track when I'm old enough to drive)
Joe Fisher Yes it's easy after you practice.
Wow mad improvements. I'm proud of you brah!
3:20 off track #1, #2, #3 next to you doing great, very nicee!
You're gettin it!!
You're killing it bro! The guy in that 370 had a little to much power for a beginner lol.
Your a freaking boss now!
You improve a lot at every event! I had a question, what got you into drifting and what inspired you to get started?
brandoGTR48 Lol I just answered this question on my Snapchat story. If you have Snapchat add me: offbeatgarage and then watch my story. If you don't then let me know and I'll type it out. Thanks!
Sorry, don't have snapchat :(
Thanks a lot for taking your time to type this. It is nice to see that you are doing what you have always wanted to do
brandoGTR48 Glad to type it out, and thanks :)
