One challenge my son and I do that really improves consistency: play a worst-disc round. Two throws off the tee, your opponent picks your worst shot. 2 approaches, again, your opponent picks your worst shot. 2 putts...have to make them both for them to count. This also a good format if one player is significantly better than another, you can allow the worse player to play their best disc.
Try the challenge again, but this time you both have to throw the same distance. Example: both of you must throw 325 and see who comes closer, then throw another random distance and see who comes closer, etc. The lowest score still wins. And you must alternate who throws first each time.
Ike Turner LOL, well yeah he’s Paul McBeth...but I mean extraordinarily accurate, both on knowing precisely how far out 368 feet is, then being able to hit it. (I got the sense that Simon wasn’t very good at judging the given distance he needed to throw; he seemed genuinely surprised how far off he was on a few of those.)
@@jennycraigadventures3314 I also feel that Simon might need objects and or the basket to help him judge the distance better so on Disc Golf courses or with other items there he might do well.
Simon, thanks for being the awesome guy you are and thank you for inspiring me to play disc golf and stay positive through these times. I love your personality and who you are. Keep it up, man.👍
Fun idea. You could also both get a # at the same time and throw one after the other. Cuts down the walking. My sons and i also started a game that we love on the back yard(big). It can be done anywhere with a basket. Three putters each. Three throws. Take turns deciding the hole layout and OBs penalties etc. Ace with any of the first 3 throws is -2. If no ace, throw all 3 again from worst position. Make all 3 for birdie, 2 for par, 1 for bogie. If none are made, putt from worst for double triple and quad. Super fun. Make crazy shots, through deck, around tramp, around house corner etc. We enjoy your videos. Keep it up!!
I think SImon you just highlighted the only real flaw in your pro game, might be good practice session for you going forward, judging distances better. hard without a target or flag to throw at. Great video
Keep going Simon and Casey!!! Great ideas, great players, great fun! Almost 50k Simon!!! Special episode for 50k subscribers?? This quarantine is making your Vlog game 💪
Love the videos keep them coming and thanks for reading my comment ... love these challenge videos this one is a good training exercise for accurate distance placement
I love you spelled out “changed” as “chenged” to resemble your accent haha. Thank you for the fantastic content. I look forward to your videos every week!
This is quite interesting. I must say that I am a bit surprised by how difficult it is for pros to throw certain distances. They are great when they see a basket, but not when they throw by distance. Shows how important it is to see the basket compared to blind shots in the holes. Simon did a little while ago "putting every Discmania putter to the test" video and he threw 160 feet upshots standstill with putters. Now he did a short run-up with Tactic. Tactic was a bit odd choice reflecting to that other video. Tactics were his worst discs in upshots. Those were among the first ones to drop. Maybe in practice those works better than than in his videos. Based on that he did a run-up and threw Tactic way harder in this video for 150 ft than standstill putter shots to 160 ft in the other video, I am not surprised that he threw Tactic so much farther. Have to try this myself. I do practice quite a lot on football fields with lines without a basket might help. Problem is that I don't throw 400 ft. I know quite well how far I throw certain discs so distanes from 150 ft to 300 ft should not be a big problem. I have basically a disc for every 20 ft within that range.
I think it would be really cool for you guys to do a disc golf version of the European tours 14 club challenge. Where when you use a club it has been used up for both players. Most shots on the green wins. Either using disc speeds 1-14 or 14 individual disc molds.
I just started out with disc golf because of you and I'm pretty addicted. I only bought one slightly understable midrange to start out and my max distance was 200 ft. Would a distance driver make sense for me?
Yes, but you might have to throw at the same time, so the 2nd player doesn't get to see the 1st player's shot. That would make it totally fair. Otherwise, maybe taking turns who goes first would be a reasonable compromise.
Anyone else ocd kick in on Casey's 2nd throw 27 not 17 lol he missed that one a little. Then the next throw was 380 and Simon walks up to throw and says 480 lol. Finally a dg video I can relate to lol. This is how id have been.
Should probably have you both having to throw the same distances for each round to make it a bit more evenly matched. RNG can really hurt since it'd be much harder to throw it within a certain distance the closer to 400 you are.
At 475 I'm surprised that he didn't throw a putter. Simon might have lost, but he still makes us all look like noodle arms. Congrats Casey! Your brain is well calibrated.
5 putters at 10 ft and you go back to 40. So you have to get all 5 different putters in a row or you go back down a level. So if your on 40 ft and make 4 of 5 you move back to 30 ft and have to make all 5 to advance. I play this game and it has helped my putting so much
@@liiiinder yeah and I thought about that when writing my comment but that was an extremely low odds shot, maybe a once per year type throw. Wind was perfect and strong, angle was perfect, and Simon is crazy enough to go for it. On a normal day like in this video, an FD Going 475 feet will always be a huck and still have pretty low odds of performing it which is probably why simon came up well short of 475.
@@baileybrown811 Too be fair, I can throw a night strike 2 375ft on a straight throw no wind and its fairly straight/stable. So if Simon just gives it some juice it wouldnt be a problem with 475 :) Sure a Cloudbreaker on 80% would probably be smarter 🤭
"Why am I so bad in this?" >> Because it's in FEET - try again in METERS and you'll be way better (you grew up with the meter scale, Casey probably grew up with feet scale)

Agreed! Because the other person’s throw messes with you too.
Whoever got closer got box to throw 1st.
that's what I thought too
At 6:53, 294-267 is not 17 Simon and Casey, it's 27

Fort Devens! Ayer, MA. Played countless Ultimate tournaments there and have definitely used it before/after disc golf rounds over at Devens!
This is a military fort? I thought it was a prep school or a college. Beautiful.
I have to say, the "uh nope" from Casey at the end, is one of the reasons why I love seeing him in your videos. You two are killing it with the vlogs
Definatly trying this challenge looks fun and good distance control practice Casey killed it!
I swear Casey makes all these videos. He's not as good as Simon but has an awesome personality and it's sooo fun to watch him throw
Oakley and A.J. did something similar, but they also randomized their disc selection, too. Fun challenge.
I love how competitive Simon is, it's fun.
Super fun to watch and look fun to try, thanks for keeping me entertained guys.
