      Necrotic Nick- This one has been on the list for awhile. We were going to do this one before we left to go to Maryland Deathfest last year but we didn't have time to do it. I've only been a fan for a few years but holy shit is this album some next level death metal.

    I remember like 14 years ago (or so) I got into them like straight from Cannibal Corpse and my head just exploded. I was obsessed with Demilich for like 2 month and then, mysteriously, I kinda forgot about them until like 3 years ago and they instantly put a smile on my face.
    Btw.: look up the wikipedia page of this band to clearify some song titles.

    This is one of those albums I’ve meant to check out forever but never did. When I saw that you were going to retro review it, it motivated me to check it out. What a crazy album. Wasn’t sure about the gurgling vocals at first, but realized that I like Will Smith from Artificial Brain and Afterbirth. With that in mind I grew to appreciate these vocals. Looking forward to giving this more spins. Thanks Thralls!

      I saw Nick do his response to the bands with flawless discographies video and the last band he featured on the list was a band that he and Jammin Jon have been talking about doing a retro review of. That band is Nasum. Nasum released 4 studio albums. Sadly, only two months after the fourth album was released, on December 26th 2004, Mieszko Talarczyk, the frontman of the band, having celebrated his birthday three days prior, was on holiday in Thailand when that *dreadful tsunami* hit and poor Mieszko was swept away and drowned. Mieszko was only 30 years old. Also, another band I want to see a retro review of is Human Waste Project with their lone full-length, E-Lux.

    I actually didn’t get into this album at first but it grew on me after multiple listens. I’m glad this album is on Spotify. Definitely one of the more strange but unique sounding technical death metal. Those song titles are ridiculous lmao. Now I know where Cenotaph got the idea for ridiculously long song titles on puked genital purulency.
    Mortal Decay - Forensic comes to mind when I hear this album. They both got froggy vocals, unique songwriting, and technical play, granted Mortal Decay is more on the Brutal/Tech death metal tip.

    Demilich is a fucking masterclass in brain meltingly good metal. I remember getting into them after I had dipped my toes in to the realm of Immolation and Gorguts, that was probably in the late 90’s maybe early 2000’s. Nespithe blew my mind then and it still blows my mind these days as well. Also here’s a question for you guys in relation to the outro… why not both?

    • @thrallsofmetal
      @thrallsofmetal  ปีที่แล้ว

      Necrotic Nick- I got into them just hearing people talk about them so I snagged the reissue of Nespithe and I still don't think my brain was ready for that album. It's really unlike anything in death metal still. I mean... you could watch both at the same time but that's some serious multitasking lol.

  • @nigelelliott4901
    @nigelelliott4901 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    In a list of 10 Essential Death Metal Classics, if you had to narrow it right down, Nespithe would have to be on it, I reckon. In fact, that might make a fun series of shows: all the Thrallers presenting their top 10 (of different sub genres). Let the light-hearted verbal blood-letting commence!

    • @thrallsofmetal
      @thrallsofmetal  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Necrotic Nick- Man... does it have to be just 10? I'd need like at least 40 I think lol. Nespithe would be on that list for sure though (Top 40). There's really no other band that sounds them. If it was 10 I'd just say that my favorites constantly shift and these are just 10 that I come back to. It's a cheap way out but it works lol.

    Hey Thralls, I'm not sure if y'all have heard them before, but I recently found a newer Thrash Metal band called Critical Defiance via their 2022 album "No Life Forms". It rips and is definitely something I think you guys would enjoy, as not only is it heavy, thrashy goodness, it's also rather short in length running for about 30 minutes (roughly). Doesn't overstay it's welcome while giving you just enough to crave a little more! Would love to hear your thoughts in an album review!
