This video indicates you don't need a high IQ to be a good investor, just 2 qualities, self discipline and a lot of patience. Investing is mostly about behavioral psychology. How can I generate more income to retire with at least $3m for long term care?
It's unfortunate most people don't have such information. I don't really blame people who panic. Lack of information can be a big hurdle. I've been making more than $45k passively by just investing through an advisor, and I don't have to do much work. Doesn't matter if the economy is misbehaving; great wealth managers will always make returns.
I've experimented with a few over the past years, but I've stuck with the popularly 'Leah Foster Alderman' for about five years now, and her performance has been consistently impressive. She’s quite known in her field, look her up.
In the UK the vast majority have built wealth through property the last 40 years, not stocks. Being a landlord has been hugely lucrative but various taxes have strangled it, so people are looking where to put their money & the S&P looks attractive. As a result buying a house has become hugely expensive, so younger people are investing in stocks and they'll tend to go for the sexier names, like NVDA & TSLA, rather than HSBC & BP.
The resale market is DEAD. That is what crushed Nike. They were in bed with it and are now doomed because that market is dead. Bad creative designers coupled with horrible collaborations that no one wanted with stock sitting everywhere and there ya have it
nike shot themselves, took eye off prize. more interested in woke politics, shite all over half their customers so ppl had enough and bought other brands.
I think the drawdown on Nike is way overdone. a global iconic brand, partnerships across all the leagues and elite athletes, etc. the market always swings dramatically both ways on good and bad news. stock was 65 at the covid low. just look at companies slaughtered this year on earnings and how quickly they filled the gap; CRM, ADBE, etc. this gap will get filled, even half of it. no brainer. i own it at 86 and bought calls into jan 2025. why would you take a 60& loss on a stock that had its worst trading day in it's history? what's the downside of holding for a bounce? how much lower can it go? the covid low is another 5%. come on man
And yet, when you visit the Nike store in Shibuya Tokyo, you have to wait in line to get in. When you visit the Adidas store right around the corner, there are basically no customers inside. Or at least, this was the way it was six months ago.
if the Dems replace Biden with a good candidate, then Trump loses; that's not happening soon but the move to replace Biden does seem to be building - lots of uncertainty and markets don't like that - Summer Storm?
John Donahoe Nike CEO was previously forced to leave both Ebay and then Paypal CEO positions due to poor performance. He talks a good game but he never achieves the "magic" he promises. Nike must have been drinking his kool-aid when they hired him, it was all a fantasy. The company won't improve until they get rid of Donahoe and bring in a new CEO.
You made most of that up. He was CEO of ebay for seven years, having been promoted from within the company. Ebay had consistent performance during his tenure. Paypal was spun out of Ebay when he was the CEO. After it was spun out, he became Paypal's chairman. He was also never the CEO of Paypal, but continues to be chairman. He served as CEO of ServiceNow for three years and only left because he was offered the role at Nike.
I think the private market interest is that those not lucky enough to participate in PE and VC investments are increasingly demanding to have that access. Capital allocators know it and are trying to navigate the securities laws to make that happen. Now that the IPO window has been closed for the last couple of years, those privileged investors also want exits, further reinforcing this overall trend. Opening this up would allow others to participate in the growth in value that occurs before becoming public (startups). I don’t think private markets will become hyper liquid like public so getting more liquidity is needed and will happen.
I see their talking small caps again, is this going to be yet another one where they fail to distinguish SCV and Value+quality from general smallcaps? If you look at vanguards SCV (whic hsisin't great), it's up nearly 9% total returns on 1yr. Value+quality with a momentum screener, like AVUV does, is up 13.5% in the last year. That unprofitable growth small cap section, as mike said has a huge proportion, is and always has been in aggregate garbage. Advantage was always in value+quality. Josh almost got there, he said if you believe in momentum and growth it's not the place to be that's THE POINT! large cap/ market cap weighted indexes are already heavy momentum factor plays, you don't need more of that if you already have mostly market cap index funds(which you should). Small caps are best for the value+quality combined, with a momentum screen to hep not catch falling knives. It's what makes it a nice return diversifier added to your portfolio.
I think they always does that. To be fair to Michael he did highlighted this is evident in the equal weighted SP500 as well. But this CEO of a Wealth Advisory firm does seem to be very short term and story focused.
The only person wearing NIKES is Michael Jordan. Sooooo not cool! ON holdings and HOKA are eating their lunch. HOKA is the quintessential Boomer shoe. That's a lot of shoes! Still waiting for the GAP to get filled on NVDA from 400 to 500 pre split, Mike. Didn't you promise that?!
ARS Pharmaceuticals up 11/20% after hours trading. Is FDA approval of NEFFY imminent? When it does, it's product will control the anaphylactic market and kick EpiPen's ass!!
If Argentina is privatizing all public utilities/services it will create a surplus in the short term. You can only sell the family silver once. It will be interesting to see if the experiment works, they certainly need a miracle.
Great episode. Topics weren't riveting but needed to be covered to get a better sense of the current market. You guys are the best at keeping politics out and just giving the markets reaction. Be it US, EU or now S.A. Have a great weekend and enjoy the family time!
And trump is a corrupt conman, a pathological liar, convicted felon, and now it turns out with the latest epstein document dump, not only is he a rapist, but he’s also a pedophile.

You just have to stock tuah and invest in that thing!

Hoka is publicly traded. They're owned by Deckers Outdoors Corp. (Ticker symbol DECK).
That’s like saying See’s Candies is publicly traded because it’s part of BRK.
DECK’s chart is insane.

investors like you should be cautious of the bull run, its best you connect with a well-qualified adviser to meet your growth goals and avoid blunder.

Wow, her track record looks really good from what I found online. I'll take a chance and see how it goes. Thanks for the info
min 32:09 : what a naive concept of European wealthy people the average american has. And Mr. Brown is probably above the average Joe.
Is Nike ever going to come clean with what they actually lost during the period when organized shoplifting wasn't a crime?
