1,000 mile update: It’s been 1k miles since making this video. I am pleased to share that my daughter’s Elantra has not consumed ANY oil! So far, so good!
Owned a Hyundai Elantra and sold it at 235K. It had regular oil changes every 4000 miles and I followed the factory high service maintenance schedule. When I w sold the car, it was burning using about 1/3 to 3/4 a quart of oil every oil change. Windshield wipers, a couple of bulbs, and a new battery were replaced during the time I had it. Also, I followed my service rep's advice and had the transmission serviced at 65,000 and every 60,000 miles afterwards. I traded it in at the Hyundai dealer. The car was purchased the first day it was put out on the lot.
My girlfriend and I just came back from our trip to Chicago. We drove from Tucson Arizona up to Chicago then went to visit her dad in Minisota. We put exactly 7,369 miles on it. We didn't have any problems. Due to the duration of our trip I went passed the 5K oil change but plan to continue regular oil changes at the 5K mark. I'll be using Quaker State 5W-20 Full synthetic oil and a premium oil filter. I'll continue to update you on the vehicle status and I'd really appreciate if you could do the same with your daughters Elantra.
Sounds like you had a good road trip. I’ll keep the updates coming and here is my Elantra playlist: th-cam.com/play/PL0pAqdmfaJaJ9nU4ZUHBgnXqrqEshJqz2.html&si=e2OuGhElk1tTqkSB
Always enjoy your videos, just a thought here, have you thought about trying the Valvoline restore and protect oil . It's supposed to do a good job cleaning the rings slowly. Myself I wouldn't use the Lucas it has no additives in it . So your daughter's car would be pretty low with additives. And I would assume you would do a shorter oci ? 👍
Thank you. I had never heard of the Valvoline Restore and Protect until your comment. I spent about an hour researching before replying to you. It is interesting and is a fairly new product and I’m sure more results will be coming out over the next several months. I may switch over to that and start using it soon. Thank you for the recommendation.

Sounds like you took good care of it and it returned the favor by being reliable transportation for you for many miles.
I really liked the magnetic socket. That would have been usefull on todays oild change. I'll consider purchasing itnfor my next oil change.
It’s definitely worth the small investment and I found it useful on other brands as well including my Hondas.
