The ufc simply doesn't care anymore to promote big fights like they did before.. And it's now that they still have stars, after Poatan, Charles, poirier, gaethje, izzy, chandler, etc retire mma fans will look at now as the golden era..
My level of fandom is probably the second highest it's ever been, probably the most since the TUF boom. You could never capture that essence ever again.
Two issues. 1) ROI; Dana is not a promoter, he is a TV producer. If Izzy or DDP become champ it won't translate to enough revenue (by their assessment) to cover the work into promoting the fight. 2) Fan demographics. The average UFC fan (or at least the ones attending/buy PPV) is a troglodyte. Just look at who they have as guest 'stars' in the audience (and how the fans react). They both nearly had controversies about something as simple as painted nails, or giving a platonic kiss to another male. Its a brand risk to upset the homophobes
Both of them lost to Sean. It’s that simple. Nobody thinks they should even be the title fight and they are waiting to see who fights Sean again. DDP’s biggest damage was a headbutt and Adesanya did NOTHING. In short, nobody cares.
@@Jimmy-iy9pl Do you care about this fight though? I could force myself to say DDP won and I still dont care about this fight because hes not special, great or particularly entertaining. Imo atleast Izzy has a great skillset even if its boring at times and I dont find his style appealing. Its a "Meh" fight that will probably end in decision or DDP sleeping.
@@jakepowers7382 except Izzy didn't have a bad performance. Sean just exposed that Izzy is actually a 1 dimensional fighter, and Sean didn't ay into his game while still putting the forward pressure on Izzy, which is where a lof of his other boring fights happened, Romero, Cannonier, and Jan didn't engage but didn't didn't have the pressure to win the rounds. This fight is important to see if Izzy will show something new, see if he isn't doing it on cruise control. Or if Dricus is smart enough to follow the game and now that it's out there. Or if he'll charge straight at Izzy and try and brawl it out. It's probably going to be a one sided fight, that can be one sided in either way.
People forget Blachowicz was beating or at least matching Adesanya on the feet for large parts of that fight. It wasn't just takedowns. Also Blachowicz was older and had less stamina; so the further it went along the more it went back in Adesanya's direction (purely on stamina), before Blachowicz got that vital takedown.
For me, the hype behind Izzy's fights kind of died when he starting losing. He is no longer the unsolvable enigma that he was on his run up to the title and for me personally, that is what made his fights exciting. Who and how would someone solve the Adesanya puzzle? Well we've seen that play out a few times now. This is also different than watching a fighter who you know is not necessarily the most elite but always finds a way to win. You expected dominance from Izzy and when he doesn't deliver on that his wins don't hit the same. I want to see him cut through someone like he did to Brunson again.
Whys that? While I don't think he's fully deserving of this opportunity to say nah he ain't even a contender is a little wild. Let's not forget he did beat Alex
It's a weird division isn't it. Suddenly Du Plessis, Adesanya, Whittaker, Chimaev and Strickland all feel kind of the same level. Think that's the problem. The winner of the fight doesn't necessarily feel the best in the division. Feels like they could just as easily lose it again next fight. Light how Light Heavyweight felt when Glover was booked against Jamahal Hill, immediately after Blachowicz and Ankalaev's draw. Before Pereira stepped up.
My hype for mma went from a roaring flame in 2005 when the first tuf season premiered. To a little stale until about 2009 after exciting injections into the heavyweight division and Silva went on his inhuman run. A little lax after that until the mcgregor hype, now my hype for the ufc has become just a slow burn. I never get too up or down with fighters, I just want to see great fights and the hardcore in me still watches all of tuf and all the cards top to bottom
Nah, everyone's forgotten Strickland too. Because he's immediately turned into a fight once a year guy like Colby and Masvidal, the second he got famous for this awful right wing stuff.
@@eliasmartin9842 he’s active and takes on any challenge given to him. The UFC used to actually put effort into their promotion, to the point that even if I knew what the result was gonna be, I still had a lot of curiosity about guys like Patrick Cote, Demian Maia, James Irvin, Antoni Hardonk, etc. and if they could win the big fights. Now it just feels like the UFC is on autopilot in a lot of different aspects. They saw Conor do a lot of the heavy lifting for his own self-promotion, and the UFC responded by telling (without words) the rest of the roster that they as a company were only gonna do the bare minimum now and the fighters had to pull their own weight promotionally from now on. Well not every fighter is great at promotion, and now all these fight nights happening week by week are kinda cannibalising each other.

This is the only undeserved title fight he’s had and it was cause he was hand picked by the champion. No one tripped when Izzy picked Romero. Plus Izzy hasn’t even been talking trash, recently said he’s already tired of the media and just wants to fight, similar to the build up to the second mma fight with Alex (little too no trash talk) so you’re basing your answer off your preconceived notions of Izzy instead of what you’re seeing.

I am looking forward to all cards , it’s hard as Brit staying up till 6/7 can be draining even for the hype . Think what you said about fight night being awful now don’t help . Whether that’s because it’s apex so much but used to look forward to some fight nights as much as ppv cards
If you guys stopped talking about a McGregor/Chandler fight that isnt gonna happen maybe you could cover real fights
Id love to buy the MMA On point guys around
The ufc simply doesn't care anymore to promote big fights like they did before..
And it's now that they still have stars, after Poatan, Charles, poirier, gaethje, izzy, chandler, etc retire mma fans will look at now as the golden era..
My level of fandom is probably the second highest it's ever been, probably the most since the TUF boom. You could never capture that essence ever again.
DDP and Adesanya in an African TUF would have been amazing btw
because you have the brain of a goldfish
I’m glad I’m not the only one who’s noticed how stale the rivalries have been this year, it’s like they never make it into the cage
"Daddy's hat fell off" I hope to use this my the end of the day.
We used to have seasonal press conferences, and press conferences used to be good. Always went a long way towards hyping fights for me.
Both of them lost to Sean. It’s that simple. Nobody thinks they should even be the title fight and they are waiting to see who fights Sean again. DDP’s biggest damage was a headbutt and Adesanya did NOTHING. In short, nobody cares.
DDP beat deSean wtf are you talking about
Dricus looked like hamburger meat after the fight, Strickland was back training on Monday 💯☝️🤔
Only his fangirls want to see Pillow fights of decision merchant strickland. Leon/ Bilal of middleweight.
@@ElBestDelWorld This is Funny considering he beat Dricus’s Azz so bad he was out of training like 2 weeks letting his face close back up 💯☝️🤔
Also Baleon, Sean fought on the back foot against cannonier
"have we every seen izzy that bad".....yes. vs. cannonier, vs. vettori, vs. blachowicz, vs. romero. people seem to forget about these performances
Huh? Only had a bad performance against Romero and Sean you bum
They literally say that at the very beginning do you even listen before you put your shit comment
"people forget man" -joe rogan
People forget Blachowicz was beating or at least matching Adesanya on the feet for large parts of that fight.
It wasn't just takedowns. Also Blachowicz was older and had less stamina; so the further it went along the more it went back in Adesanya's direction (purely on stamina), before Blachowicz got that vital takedown.

Thank you so much!
If you guys put out a weekly podcast I’d listen to it, I am less keen to give YT £1 a month, I haven’t got an MMA podcast on the reg now
I don't think people really see Israel as a true contender anymore.
Are we changing the definition of contender now?
@@Dukestboy96 I'm not saying I agree with it, I am saying that's the reason people aren't hyping this fight.
If Izzy would of lost the Whitaker and Romero fight from the judges like he should of he would be 2-5 last 7💯☝️🤔
My hype for mma went from a roaring flame in 2005 when the first tuf season premiered.
It’s crazy how everyone fell out of love with Izzy
Only the plastics not the real ones
I'm pumped for it
Sean Strickland is where the hype is 😤
Why? His style is almost as boring as adesanya.
Strickland is an influencer with good defense.
My nan was clinging onto life and Stricklands last fight finished her off
Nah, everyone's forgotten Strickland too.
Because he's immediately turned into a fight once a year guy like Colby and Masvidal, the second he got famous for this awful right wing stuff.
@@eliasmartin9842 he’s active and takes on any challenge given to him. If he fights Robert Whittaker he’s fought every one in the top 5 of middleweight, just because you don’t like his style or what he says doesn’t mean he can’t fight with the best guys in the world at middleweight 🤷♂️ he’s a great gate keeper for the division/belt to prove your actually good
This video is an L take. Its massive to South Africans
In my opinion, the hype for the Izzy DDP fight died when Izzy lost the belt because at that moment, Izzy became an afterthought
Who else can’t stop hearing DDP (Diamond Dallas Page)?
I never gave a shit in the first place. More pissed off at the total bs title shot Izzy is getting
I ain’t no brother of yours SON… lol. We shall see who the master is lol
The uttered of these words,my boy
Utterer
@@martintheron1386 lol it’s must hurt
Izzy is completely irrelevant. He’s too childish and immature to be taken seriously anyways.
His personality was fine when he was untouchable. But since the Romero and Jan fights it took a 180 and got really annoying and loud
And you’re more manly?
This season of Tuf actually hasn’t been that bad
It’s cause we know the true champ seanathon Strickland the 3rd should be having the fight first
The UFC used to actually put effort into their promotion, to the point that even if I knew what the result was gonna be, I still had a lot of curiosity about guys like Patrick Cote, Demian Maia, James Irvin, Antoni Hardonk, etc. and if they could win the big fights. Well not every fighter is great at promotion, and now all these fight nights happening week by week are kinda cannibalising each other.
very good point
I think Izzy's just trying to refocus. His trash talk wasn't exactly... good.
Izzy 35 man is over the hill
Man fuck how good a guys trash talk is. I always hate it when people talk about how a fighter is bad on the mic. I get that being good in the mic makes for good marketing, but its the fights that matters. Sadly Izzy hasnt been looking that good for a while in the cage either
Free wife for 2.99? Wut
Cuz everyone is sick of hearing Izzy's cringe attempts at trash talk and even more sick of seeing him walk into title fight after title fight even though it's undeserved
@@adub92199FACTS
Sean was and is the hype and the man to beat in that division
I find it so annoying that you disguise these podcast rants among your other quality videos. Can you atleast make it clear in the title/thumbnail
The normal videos is Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. If it not posted on those days then its a podcast.
Maybe they should call it conversation ?
Grrr, I hate free content.
You poor thing.....
@toothlesschunk1005 mma on point actually charges people for some of there shitty content thats the real joke anyone who pays for this shit
DDP vs Strickland was a close fight, DDP won that one!
