- Crypto Neo's at it again... this time, making a wonderful Nuclear Bomb payload (lol) for us to play with in the valley! It replaces ammunition jobs, and unfortunately, it doesn't do a super big explode when it goes off, but perhaps some day we can find a way to make that happen... either way, a very fun time!

At 22:45 Hyce doesn't notice but with the water so low flames started to form on the side of the firebox, just a visual glitch but a funny one nonetheless.

I love how the talkative whistle says "Oh god stop, please" after Hyce gets back into the cab. It's hilarious how he interprets the whistle "speech" in his own way.

In light of current events, I admire the cool, nonchalant attitude about a train full of Russian-built tanks being right beside a train full of nukes.
As a side note, AFAIK, it's a bad sign for the health of the device if the nuclear bombs are giving off ambient radiation. To my understanding, this would imply the fissile material is decaying badly and may not produce the desired yield

According to nukemap, you would need a 2-4Km buffer to have a chance of survival (ignoring that you actually carry 5, not 1 bombs). At current train length, whole train would basically be in a fireball. I have not seen a "Operation Smash Hit - nuke edition" to comment but it might be safer to jump into spent fuel flask before explosion.
How Hyce manages to have a job driving train in real life when he drives like this, is beyond me

Well, nuclear weapons are usually transported without the nuclear core inserted in the device, *HOWEVER* they do have a large high explosive charge to set off the main blast

depending on the weight of those big boys, the blast radius would be somewhere about 200+ miles (correct me if i'm wrong)... 7 rail cars of nuke waste, probably wouldn't help much with the blast going on.... either way this was a great upload... who ever heard of sick days, hope you'll be back up to your usual self in no chuggin time!
i had covid a couple months ago. it suuucked. i hope u get to feelin better. also the phrase "the spent nuclear fuel is the buffer between me and the nukes" is probably the most entertaining thing ive heard all week. btw 9 times outta 10 the tender will usually derail before the engine. and the lowest bidder thing is accurate...in terms of the RR, the ES&D is effectively what "Military grade" actually means, and Class 1s like everyone thinks
I googled the blast radius of the Fat Man bomb, which is what the bombs you’re pulling are apparently based on, and it had a blast radius of one mile, so if any of the bombs carried by the train went off, the whole train and everyone and everything within a mile radius of the train would be destroyed.

The spent fuel is more because it is way more radioactive and your exposure from standing near it is so much higher. The bombs have way less radioactive material in them.

Can we get a train 101 videos talking about header configurations? I’ve always seen trains with one face forwards and another facing backwards behind it but in your video of the super long train you had two facing forwards and one backwards. I’ve also seen I. Real life two in the front, with one in the middle and two in the back. What determines how many engines and where they go?
The direction they face doesn't -really- matter, unless you're trying to be a superstar, or the consist has a particularly niche use. Where they go in super long trains is a game of forces on the knuckles and minimizing that with additional Distributed Power (DP) sets.
As far as the facing goes, generally:
If you have 2, back to back is nice. Makes easier to run around the train if you can't turn anything around.
If you have more than 2 - multiple facing the primary direction is good (i.e. if you've got a hotshot train heading east, you'd like the first two engines to face east such that if one has a defect in the cab you can swap to the other without needing to turn one around); but not required by any means, etc.
