To Harvey’s question before it ends if it’s not in the lease it’s in the landlord because “ any ambiguity in a contract is on the person who made it !”
You consider sweet. I consider a slumlord because there's no such thing as hPD doing as is housing? And she's over here, complaining about how she didn't get paid, but Hud had saw that she had things that was not up to code. She's not sweet. She might talk sweet, but she is not a sweet person. Like understand rent was 550 to 600, but that was about 15 to 20 years ago. By now. So depending on when she bought the house rent stabilization what has stayed a certain price because of the fact that she was there so long? That's how the law goes. Do you might like her because of her personality? I'm going to tell you the truth about a person by their actions, not by what they say
@mahailiabrown3972 Did you watch this case? They were friends. Plantiff rented that house for 12 years. Then when she needed section 8, instead of the sweet defendant saying “no”, she agreed! And didn’t even realize that the home would have to be brought up to section 8’s code. So she washed her hands of the low rent section 8 was paying her and decided to sell the house. I don’t blame her. Especially after the Plantiff failed to pay the water bill for two years… totally expecting the sweet Defendant too! Now, you tell me again that the Defendant is a “slum lord”.
I'm in a 2 flat, 4 bedroom, central air, large back porch & parking spot in the back! All for $900 Not on Section 8, I've been here for 20+ years & my rent has only went up $100! I'm NEVER leaving! Me & my Landlady say "I love you" when we hang up the phone! She's great & the apartment is also!
I am 62 and my husband is 66. We live in Massachusetts and we have no heat in our house. We did provide a wood stove for some heat. We have lived here for 12 years. We used to be able to chop wood and make things work. We've gotten older. We approached our landlord regarding the fact that we don't have heat, He evicted us. That is illegal. I'm taking my time. P.S. the landlord has never begun to provide heat. He will probably owe me back rent according to Mass. state law. Maybe even the last 12 years.
Some people have learning disabilities so they don’t have decent paying jobs , section 8 is a great way to help them , these people can be your family or friends so be mindful and let’s not insult them .
Landlord never want to give the security back don't matter how good you leave the apartment or the house they all like that once they get the money then never want to give it back😅😅😅😅
Plaintiff Camille wasn't very grateful. Be careful what you sow Camille, you reap what you sow and you sowed a lot of greed and malice toward someone helping you. Pointing the finger at someone's splinter in their eye and ignoring the log in your own is rather hypocritical.
So sad. The tenant was given thousands of dollars off of her rent and decided to sue for $500???? I wonder if the landlord could have appealed the amount of the rent. Especially since most municipalities allow for a maximum increase on the rent. This was a good lesson.
The judge has mentioned that numerous times that in some states you can claim double if the deposit is not returned in 30 days. Idk what states those are, but definitely not Texas.
How exactly is the defendant trifling? She rented her 3 bedroom HOUSE to the plaintiff for $550-600/mo. Even in 2009-2010, that was one heck of a deal. So when the defendant was tired of getting no return on her investment, she gave the plaintiff a 4-month notice to vacate the premises because she planned on selling the property. Then, what does the plaintiff do? Vindictively asked section 8 to conduct an inspection so the landlord wouldn't receive any rent for the remainder of her tenancy. It sounds like the defendant was pretty good to the plaintiff for 12 years. Didn't raise the rent for the majority of her tenancy and only raised it $50 once the voucher was in place, made an exception to allow the plaintiff to stay even though her section 8 voucher only approved market rate rent for a 2 bedroom, and paid the water bill for 8 of the 12 years even though the plaintiff agreed to pay for all utilities. It was selfish for the plaintiff to retaliate against the landlord simply because she wanted to sell her property. The ungrateful plaintiff was just upset she would no longer reap the benefits of the defendant's kindness and knew she wouldn't find anything even remotely comparable to the sweet deal she had going with the defendant. That's trifling!
END SECTION 8! END ALL GOV WELFARE! Make all churches & charities pay out a certain percent of all donations to ppl in need. If they don't, take away their tax exempt status and make them pay taxes for every year they didn't give the full percentage amount to the needy. Then stop taxing all paychecks for medicaid and let people keep their money and donate to whoever they want.
No you’re just ignorant. White WORKING people are who are mostly on section 8. Stupid. You have to have an income to qualify. You’re just racist and ignorant
Looks like the landlord should have been on Section 8 too.😂😂😂

😢 hurt my heart
@@shamiyahmcneilmine, too.
This is not a greedy money hungry landlord and because of that the plaintiff took advantage of her.
The plaintiff is a prime example of why so many landlords don’t want to accept section 8. Her attitude and entitlement is despicable

Code requires it to be Habitable which it isn't with out heat
Call code enforcement before you leave.
Pretty sure if you lived out the rent then you can't get back pay for that time. May want to call a lawyer and ask them.

This whole case is a hot mess. The greed is strong with this one... Pretty trifling considering the taxpayers paid most of her rent.
