You are very talented.. such a great grasp of modeling and fur. I just adore the wizard frog, he is the cutest. Strathmore makes a 90# 100% cotton mixed media sketchbook in their Visual Journal line, it's quite nice and not very expensive. I've used it a few times and while the paper is a lighter weight it takes watercolor well and allows the color to be nice and vibrant. It also has a lighter tooth, somewhere between hot and cold press so it's nice to draw on. Spiral bound. Nice thick cover that is almost a wood grain or faux leather pattern (it's under the thin one for the branding which is removable). I've been using it for swatches and color mixing charts. My local hobby lobby sells it in the smaller size or you can get it online (Jerry's has a larger one as well). Just be careful because they also make a watercolor version which looks almost identical on the cover but it is pulp. It's actually a really nice paper though, I can't figure out what it is in their line.. it's nicer than their 400 series, and the next step up is the 500 which is cotton, it's something different. I recently did a paper comparison of about twenty different papers and it tied for first place in the pulp category, nice enough that I plan to buy another of the large version next time I order online.
Wow, thank you so much for the in-depth reply! The frog wizard's name is Gumpert, and he's based on the silliest looking frog my brother found one time. :) I will HAVE to try out this sketchbook. I didn't know hobby lobby sold that type of stuff either. Then again, the closest one is about an hour away.
@@Hiddenfauna Love it... "Gumpert the Green" lol, The journals are not showing up on their website.. but if you do go remember they have a 40% off one item coupon permanently on their website. It's good online or in store. You can get that sale price all the time on Jerry's though here is a link to the journals there. They have a pretty low free shipping offer ($45). Also if you get in a bind check Walmart, my local stores just started selling Strathmore 500 CP 100% cotton in an 8x10 pad and two sketchbooks, one normal and one panoramic. You can get them cheaper online but if you need decent paper in a hurry it's an option. www.jerrysartarama.com/strathmore-visual-art-journals
WoW!!! I absolutely Love your animal art!❤️🐿 You are a very gifted artist! I am new to watercolor And I found your TH-cam channel and I love it so much I subscribed & I also subscribed to your Instagram account! What was the trick to getting your drawings so professional? Was it just tons & tons of practice? I was just wondering do you have the name of your most favorite drawing book and a watercolor techniques book? Those might be helpful for me too! I really like the gold added to your paintings at first I thought it was Gold foil! I just bought some yesterday to try out it wasn’t until I saw your Instagram account that I realized it is Gold paint it is so shiny and absolutely stunning! I’m looking forward to seeing a lot more of your art!😍 Hugs!🥰
Thank you so much, I really appreciate you following along with me! I'm flattered, it just took tons and tons of practice. I learned a lot from The Mind of Watercolor on youtube and still watch his videos regularly. He is a watercolor master! There is a website called drawabox and you can learn a lot of drawing techniques, as well as different perspectives. As for books, I don't have any, I have always just spent hours analyzing real photos and other watercolor paintings...as well as youtube videos :)
I LOVE my gold paint and you can especially see that I loved using it in my earlier paintings! I would love to try out foil one day as well, but yeah, I highly recommend coliros metallic/gold set!
