Beautiful work again, all your tutorials learn us something very valuable!! I want to imbed some handmade lace in my photo encaustic, and now, I feel safe to do it! Thank you so much again for what you give with so much generosity...and always a calm and soft music!!!
Awww, thank you. I try really hard to make the video interesting and not annoying...but also give enough guidance and encouragement. I am nervous every time I imbed something new into encaustic, but if we don't take risks, we'll never know what may be possible.
Thankyou Shari. I have not done encaustics lately as other mediums have had my attention. Your videos always inspire me to get back to my encaustic station. Giving the gift of inspiration is a wonderful thing. Thank you so much.
I am so happy to see your videos again, I thought you had stopped doing them. I find your lessons wonderful and inspiring. Glad you are back. Thanks so much for your time and expertise.
Awww, Toni. Thank you. Glad to be back. We moved across the country so my videos were few and far between. But my studio is in full swing now. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Beautiful piece!!! I do love the 2nd piece just a little more ;-) What makes you put more than one layer between each imbedded material? Is it just a matter of looks (more layers of encaustic create more softening of the image) or something more technical? Also, after you cleaned the piece with the coconut oil, would you be able to add another layer of encaustic or would you need to truly clean the piece of the coconut oil residue with something like alcohol? Thank you!
Thanks so much, Heather! When I tried to layer over it, I was not happy with the look. I tried it once haha. I am telling you trial and error happen in my studio daily. But I know that is supposed to be a good thing, right? Yeah, you are right...adding layers softens the image.
@@PABragg yep, trial and error on a daily basis for me too... thanks so much for the info, I'm coming from working with acrylic pouring, resin, watercolor, and woodworking mostly (my channel is mostly acrylic pouring) but I've been wanting to try encaustic for years so now I'm jumping in! Trying to get as much info before I start to help keep daily failures to a minimum, lol...
Gorgeous! I love it! I really battle to remove my 'blobbies" I did wonder if it was because I wasn't perhaps putting down enough layers initially. Blessings from my heart to yours.
Great question! The coconut oil removes the excess oil stick residue. You can also use linseed oil, but the coconut oil has no scent and is cheaper. Works great!
i have just discovered coconut oil for this process after learning that linseed oil can spontaneously combust (should have remembered this from high school science). Coconut oil works great and smells good, too! just wondering if you have ever had an issue after using the oil and applying more encaustic? long-term, just wondering what happens to the oil under the medium?
Thanks so much for posting your process. I'm learning encaustics and it sure isn't as easy as it looks. Did you at any point in your work with encaustics try stick soft pastels? That's all I have. They seem to go on fine but are easily wiped away even after burnishing and fusing. I guess I'm going to have to break down and buy some panpastels...
Yeah, the first few pieces I tried, I blew all the encaustic right off the board haha. Keep practicing and try not to let it discourage you. I wish I would have made a video of all my screw ups. That would probably go viral. :) I have not tried the soft pastels. I have tried Gelatos and they seem to stay put. Because of the cost, I started with the PanPastel earth rustic (I think that's the name) and used that set a lot before buying other colors. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment.
Love watching your videos, process, oops!, and explanations. Glad to see you post a new one...and it is beautiful! One question: Do you fuse after apply the Perfect Pearls?
Jackie Cerise well...I haven’t had any problem with it flaking off or anything. Seems to hold it’s shine, too. I am also careful not to hang my encaustic pieces in direct, harsh sunlight.
Lovely! I enjoyed watching this very much. Thank you!

I just started doing encaustic. Happy to find your video . Thank you
That's great!
Greetings to you from Russia! I am very inspired by your creativity. Thanks for everything you do!
Liudmila, thank you! And hello back to you from the state of Arizona. So glad the video was helpful. Enjoy your time creating!

Blessing back your way, Angi!
pretty!
i noticed in a past project you used yes paste to apply the paper but here with the tissue paper you did not use any paste but it was fine?
This is fabulous.
Thank you!
Lovely work. How did you achieve the clarity on the second version? Fewer wax layers?
GREAT question. Yes, I only placed a thin layer of encaustic over the feather and I fused it a little bit more than normal.
Thanks for taking the time to share this!!! What does the coconut oil do?

I love this video. How do you think this would work being used as a coaster for cool drinks...would it ruin the wax...
Hmmmm, good question. I would think you should put some kind of clear sealer over the top of the wax. I haven't tried that, though.
Clear sealer. That makes perfect sense. Thankyou.
Wish I could be more help!
@@PABragg What kind of sealer can you use over encaustic!?
@@HeatherWrightArt that is a GREAT question. I have never tried a sealer so I would have to experiment...perhaps with a spray sealer.
I'm confused how the gold acrylic sticks?
I was confused too! I still can't believe it. None of it has ever chipped off or anything. So weird, but I'll take it!

Rust and Earth. That's the correct name. :)
Love watching your videos, process, oops!, and explanations. Glad to see you post a new one...and it is beautiful! One question: Do you fuse after apply the Perfect Pearls?
Thanks so much! GREAT question. I do not fuse after the Perfect Pearls. I just let it dry on its own and that's it.
@@PABragg What would happen if you attempted to fuse after applying the water based application of the Perfect Pearls?
@@HeatherWrightArt I tried it once, haha. Not good. A melty mess!
@@PABragg Haha, I was thinking that may be the case! I always say on my channel, we learn more from our failures than our successes!
Just beautiful, thank you for sharing this! What did you use to mix/dilute the Perfect Pearls?
Thank you so much. Just a little water does the trick!
How permanent is the perfect pearls since it's not fused?
Jackie Cerise well...I haven’t had any problem with it flaking off or anything. Seems to hold it’s shine, too. I am also careful not to hang my encaustic pieces in direct, harsh sunlight.
