  • My friend Dave, his wife, granddaughter and I went to an amazing Mid-Century Modern House for a photo shoot, in Fort Gratiot, Michigan for another book, Dave taking his 1959 Cadillac Series 62 four door hardtop. This book will be about "Michigan" Mid-Century Modern Homes, by Peter Forguson.
Seeing Dave's granddaughter was visiting, in order for her and his wife to be able to go along, they rode in the Bel Air seeing it now has seatbelts. Dave's Cadillac does not have seat belts, so his granddaughter can't ride in it, due to Michigan laws.
If any viewers have 50's era cars in "factory original looking condition", and would like to have your car in a photo shoot for his book, email me photos of your car and your basic contact info. that I can forward to Peter so he can contact you, if he decides to use your car for one of the photo shoots.
If you want to really see the inside of that amazing house, purchase his book. When it's published I will post a video of it, that way you will know when it's available for purchase.
One last note, it was fun seeing GM's top model car sitting next to GM's low end model in a period correct setting. Back in that era, the husband most likely drove the Cadillac to work, why the house wife drove the Chevrolet to run the kids around and going to the store. That era was the beginning of the two car family. How times have changed.

That sounds like fun, nothing like driving in an old car with the windows rolled down on a warm day. Can’t do that in new cars today, all the noise you get. When I used to drive my 62 falcon my left arm used to be real tan , From hanging out the window

What a beautiful A frame home. It has a beautiful piece of property to go with it. Did Peter happen to share with you how he finds these homes? I can't get over how big the 1959 Cadillacs are! You got some great shots of it while you were driving. A very nice day cruising in the Cadillac and the Chev!

He stated he was driving around in the winter when the foliage was off the trees. He stated he saw the peak, pulled in and left his info. She contacted him back.... the rest is history.
A lot of the video, Dave was a ways ahead, so I only edited in intersections where his car was more visible, especially with the side views why turning.
It was an extremely enjoyable long day. I always love a long ride out in the country on two lane blacktop roads that have very little traffic.

Great video. I love when you drive around my old stomping grounds of Richmond and Memphis. The Arctic Queen and the gas station up on 69 is just down from my buddies house. I was just up there a month ago at the mouth of the St Clair river going for the Walleye. Nothing like Michigan in the good weather. Keep up the great videos.

I use to get up that way often, but since I sold the house in Romeo, I don't get out that way much anymore. I always enjoyed rides in the country on the not very busy two lane blacktops.

Great video. What kind of window camera are you using? I would like to put one in my 66 Ford Galaxie Convertible.

That was Dave's wife and granddaughter..... my car has seatbelts, Daves Caddy docent. Michigan law requires children be buckled up! They wanted to go along so that why they road with me.
