The acting is so well done in this movie that their love feels so real and when she sings the part "come back to me and forgive everything" just hits you so hard. She loves him so much and wants him to forget how terrible she was to him, but did it because of love. Fuck, this scene gets me every single time. Great movie.
And to think she was so quick on forgiving him, after he just publicly shamed her in one of the worst ways possible.
Crazy how that happens.
***** Well, actually, that scene was scripted back when Christian was still the writer, he even mentions throwing the money at her feet as he directs.
Damn right Ewan should have gotten nominated for an academy award for this movie just with the last scene when Satine dies, he put so much emotion into that scene, just like he did at the end of Revenge of The Sith when Anakin is burning.

I find this song so heartfelt, some songs lyrics that every man has felt but never say. Why? We are taught from a young age that men don't cry or love someone as deeply as is portrayed in this scene. Why do we hold back from telling a woman just how much your love for her, from the depths of your sour. To reciprocate that love to one who has a hold of your inner self. What a wonderful gift for you to accept this love and embrace it with all what your spirit that you have. Letting your hidden feelings break free and share it with her, is an extraordinary sensation you will ever have in your life. Take it from one person who's life was changed forever

One of THE best songs/finales ever! Songs like these are the reason I love musicals. Just those moments where everybody's voices come in and harmonize in strangely pleasant discordant melody, just the raw emotion, the power. My God.
I'm literally always saying that I don't want to be in a relationship in this time of my life. But when I hear their song, it always changes my mind. I want to fall in love like they did, to love and be loved in return.

I fell in love with "Christian" years ago. The character, the voice, the story... Made me feel like a teenager with butterflies in my stomach. I'm an old woman now, but this movie -his voice- still makes me feel like a young girl falling in love for the very first time.

the whole aspect that she is facing her mortality while singing this love song is compelling, facing deadly consumption or tuberculosis as she is going to die. just extraordinary and very sad but positive because her love is all that matters...

What's interesting about the finale version is that Satine is singing the part that until that point has always been Christian's. Throughout the film, Christian has been the pursuer in this relationship (at least after Satine learned that he was not the Duke) and Satine has been the more ambivalent/hesitant one who's attracted but nevertheless holding back -- even when Ziedler confronts her about her relationship with Christian, she insists that it's "just an infatuation" (and I don't think Ziedler is the only one she's trying to convince). However, this time, Christian has become the ambivalent/hesitant one who's ready to walk out and Satine has turned into the pursuer.
