Did anyone ever ask the sound guy why the track was so much louder than his guitar? Can't even hear his guitar. Stephen has in-ears so he has no idea he's way too low in the FOH mix. Sad.
Probably has more to do with the fact that this was recorded on a smartphone in the front row of a loud show than the live mix being bad. I've seen so many shows recorded like this and they never pick up the mid range frequencies very well.
Cool vid! Nice to see him performing. I bet FoH is fine, my guess would be those aren’t their Orange amps and they’re running modelers DI to the board, X32 to ears. Common setup for lightweight touring (house kit was prob nice to have as well) but no stage volume means front row misses out
Question. So I'm kind of new to progressive metal but very familiar with other closely related music like Fusion, metal and progressive Rock. I noticed that Animals with leaders also doesn't have a bassist but instead has two guitarists. Why is this? Is the feeling that one guitar for Rhythm fits better with the music than a bass?
In AAL, both Tosin and Javier play 8 string on many songs so they cover that low end . Also AAL actually tracked bass separately(preety sure it was Nolly from Periphery) on some of their albums. I think it's just in a live context that Stephen doesn't have a bassist because Simon Grove tracked Bass on his Permanence EP.
he finally has a drummer who can actually play live now
He didn't before? New to Stephen's work
@@clarenceoveur9497 It musta just been that the helix nebula drummer couldn't hear himself that well and his timing was weirdly off
Faccckkk they're all so damn good! Permanence is such a fantastic release. I can't wait to hear more from Stephen, thanks for uploading.
Though ebing able to see stephens playing is a pleasure I do wish simon could played live with them as well
YES, I finally get to him live! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!
The elusive Stephen Taranto in the wild! Thanks for sharing the vid!

What a beast! Shame the mix was off at the beginning but they were awesome, that EP has such energy

When he said they weren't sure where they were going, did they start improvising all of that? If so, that is sickkk

AAL still have bass on all their songs, there just isn't anyone playing it live.
I read on the back of the latest AAL album misha mansoor actually in fact did the bass as well as the synths
wish i couldve come to this but i am not over 18
You have to be over 18??
wtf is this mix?
100,000 hours of practice gone to waste because of the sound guy...
sounds great but way to bass heavy !!! can barley hear him play!!!!
