Agreed one of the better mechanics to the ole rpg classics that offered large ship travel to go into the ship and offers some great aspects for character development for everyone as you fly around!

@@silverfoxex2144 I agree. The problem is that people seem to only care about graphics so that's what developers focus on. And if you have HQ graphics then the story becomes very expensive.
If it's of any help, I personally enjoyed this video a ton with the additional full-force example at the end you put that extra-extra in for, the music was great and is really inspiring to see the techniques in action. One of my favorite videos of yours.
Pixelart/photoshop tutorials how you make stuff like that would be insanely helpful too! I'd watch that whole segment you did making the airship in real time.
one day Iwant to make something as beautiful as the lunar whale. the whole sequence is burned into my mind causein that first playthrough ya feel everything was going wrong, then ya summon that incredible ship! the theme combined with that cutscene filled me with hope as a kid lol. and then theres being in it and flying it, it so fast XD.
GAH!!! I have been trying like CRAZY to explain what you just did, with the airship you made in photoshop, did you parallax map it? This is the exact thing I'm trying to do, THANK YOU SO MUCH,LOL
I know this video is 2 years old. But I was wondering if you could make a tutorial on a floating island over the ocean that you have to use an airship to get to? I'm trying it in my game but the only way I can think of is events and my airship won't land on the ground event I made. I'm using specifically events cause I couldn't figure out how to use tiles. But I want the ship to go beneath it and the airship over it and of course you be able to land the airship on it and walk around. Any help would be appreciated.
it doesn't work for me, I follow the same instructions and at the moment of using the shitf the sprite of the ship is transported (I'm trying to do it with a ship) and not the character, it works when it wants , because there are times that only the characters are transported, and when I talk to the captain and is transported to the world map the character stays on the ship and I can not move in the sea or enter the ship. (works perfect with the airship but not with a ship :c )
Nice tutorial, it helped me a lot! But i have a question, can you make a video about how to spawn a boat infront of a player if they have a special skill? Like surf in Pokemon. (I have RPG Maker MV) I'm from Poland so sorry if my english is a bit weird.
I'm having issues with mine, when I press shift, I transports me but the screen remains black. I have airship landing pads througout my world map. Maybe that has something to do with it? 😕
Awesome tutorial! Back to old "Final Fantasy 7" days =) How could be made not direct transfer player to one specific map, but popup list of all avalaible locations to choose? I mean, when player steps on event place. Make transfer menu list like "choices event"', but more than 6 entries/maps. On top of that, show/hide avalaible transfers during a course of the story with variables or switches.
Yeah, instead of directly transferring the player, still record the variables, but just add a "Show Choices" Menu and have the different transfer events in those choices.
Probably the exact same way. Make a 1-1 map of the world but one is under water. When you want to go under water get your current x-y then transport your character to the underwater map Matching x-y and vice versa when you want to surface.
I have the issue where I’m transported to the airship interior map and it is nothing but black. Really don’t understand what is going wrong, went through the video like 3 times. Older methods don’t get nearly as close though.
Great videos new subscriber. I tried to follow this step by step but used the boat instead of the airship. Works getting on the ship but when I travel to the map it doesn't put me back on the boat. Does this only work with the Airship?
I figured it out. It doesn't work with boats because the player takes a step forward when disembarking. You have to mess with a movement route before re-embarking to get it to work. At least that's what I found.
I know this is an old video, but I feel like an idiot trying to follow along. lol I did everything you did in the order you did it, but when I travel to the ship interior, it just fades to black, says the name of the map on the screen, and nothing changes. It doesn't even transfer to the interior map, since the music for flying the airship is still playing, and pressing the action button changes to the overworld map music like I got off the ship.
Hmm, that's odd. Make sure your adding a fade in when you get onto that map. You also have to make sure that you are dismounting the airship in that new map too.
No idea. It's been ages since I've used Ace, but as long as you can transfer to a variable and store the relevant data. (Map ID, player X,Player Y) then it should work.
You know what would be really cool?

Seems to work great aside from the airship following me into the airship map

Is there any way to do this where the airship doesn't take off every time you return to the world map?

wow I was thinking about this a while ago, very useful! is it exactly the same in MV or are buttons and event things in different places?
It should work in exactly the same way.
Nice and useful video! Is it possible to do same in MV?
Yes, of course. It should work exactly the same!

@@jaredjohns171 Hey, I was wondering if you could tell me/show me how you got your to work. I can't seem to figure it out with a ship.
I did all that, the only difference is that I use a ship. But I can't move after I go outside of the ship.
