So what I've learned from the Matterhorn is that yes it has become slightly slower by "feel" after the new changes with the bobsleds, and refurbishing of the mountain and monsters. However, each bobsled run has different speeds due to either the weight or the speed that the car is naturally supposed to go. For example, if a bobsled is going maximal in one segment of the mountain, the trim brakes or pacers will slow it down completely and the speed will reduce greatly. Same way works the opposite. Another note: I have rode the Matterhorn Bobsleds 21 times in one day while wearing a speedometer on my watch which tracks the mph in motion. I rode the Tomorrowland side 9 times with a max speed of 33.1 mph. The average pace speed ranges 23-26mph. 12 times on the Fantasyland side gave me a max speed of 31.9 but an average speed of 22-26mph. So yes, there is a difference but pretty unnoticed. The reason why Tomorrowland probably feels much faster is due to the intensity of the ride. There are dolly drops, tornado curves, and hairpin sectors where it makes the ride feel like Space Mountain with the lights on. Fantasyland side doesn't really have those features. However! There are greater visuals of the mountain, more curves, few acceleration points that make you feel like you're zooming, and a longer ride to provide for it!
Awesome! I've noticed I can actually get wet on the Tomorrowland side but have not experienced that on the Fantasy land side. I think I like the Tomorrowland track better, it feels a little faster.
It’s been 10 years but the second half of the Tomorrowland side sure seems slower than I remember it, in this video. When they changed bobsleds and refurbed, did they slow it down?
Good question! I didn’t speed anything up or slow anything down but I did trim out a few seconds of the fantasyland tracks lift hill post Harold in the dark so they would arrive at the Wells expedition at the same time!
@@TheDisneylandBeat I didn’t think you changed the speed but after the quick drop the speed should continue to pick up to the bottom. At least, that’s how I remember it and one I’ve the reasons I always rode the Tomorrowland side. That last acceleration the other side lacks. I think they trimmed the speed down to lessen vibration and stress at the base of the mountain. It’s the only reason I can think of for speed reduction there.
Neither side really seems any faster than the other. They both have nearly the same scenery just at different portions of the ride, they cross over each other and run parallel at some points but both seem about the same duration. That said, I prefer the timing and layout of the Tomorrowland side a little bit more.
I don’t know why, but I always remembered there being glowing red eyes when you’re in the dark
The last iteration of Harold had glowing eyes for sure!
Yes, there used to be at the very top of the chain lift hill. You can see it on old videos of the ride
I love this ride! It gives a great view of the park. I also like saying hello to Harold the yeti, even if he gives us a hard time about it haha.
Yes Harold gets so upset, but I know he loves us all! 😋
LOL!!😂

Your side by sides are extremely cool. Thanks for making these.
Thanks so much!!
very cool

That’s interesting, I had not realized that!! I love that last steep dip in the Tomorrowland track, gets me every time!
@@TheDisneylandBeat ahhh I love that how I dips under the other track...so fun!
I think Tomorrowland side is the faster then fantasyland side

@@davidmiles533 Ahh, I see! Thats a solid thoery!

I love the last little dip on TL side!
Don't worry, Your Highness. No one's gonna touch your gold while I'm around.
Which is the left track? I have seen some vlogs that say it’s the best?
Can you request one ? Which do you prefer?
You can request and sometimes, not always they can accommodate. Left (Tomorrowland) is bumpier but faster. Right is smoother but a touch slower. 😋
