Hi guys, this is Rainer Remake, inventor, director and animation artist of the 3Lux I-III Series. I just wanted to greet my fans and say I'm still alive, not in the loony bin, still a film maker, but grown up, of course. I was very touched and flattered about the enthusiasm I found here, Thanks a lot. And I'm still a techno guy although 50 now. And I still love raving. The other VJs from the three videos came from London, Amsterdam, Paris, Scandinavia, and of course Berlin, my hometown. I could list all the names, but you can just look in the text here, and you'll see yourself. Studie Optics was not one of the, neither was gecko, those were more light projection experts on the mayday etc. but no VJs, just to clear that up. You don't stop raving because you get old, you get old if you stop raving! ;) But naturally in our age we don't do this on such a regular scheme anymore... lol Our ways crossed many times back in the days but we were never really personally related to each other. @@thchris Thanks so much for you interest. Well let's start with the technical side. Most of the designers worked with Amiga 2000 oder 4000 and S-VHS Video Tapes. The configuration we had back then was a graficsboard with 320x240 in 64 Colors. We had about 1MB of ram for the loops. So we could play 6-40 frames in one loop, depending on the resolution we took. The projects were mastered by me in a Umatic Editing Studio in PAL 768x576. That's why I was laughing, when someone demanded a HD version. We had two players and a blue box studio we could key below the animations. Some Videos are a mixture of Video Feedbacks, heavily effected Video Footage and animation on top of it. Others are pure animation. We were continuously switching Videorecorders and Amiga in the 2 Channel Mixer we had. Everything was done in one long weekend in the Studio, where I made an Internship. There was a lot of speed involved, I remender that. Me and my partner Armin Haase from Clipvideo were nonstop fighting over every edit. I always thought it was too wild, too abstract and Armin always wanted to go even more arty. I guess the compromise made it so great. I possibilities were very limited compared the today, but we exposed every feature in the amigas to the limit, I guess.
I was 14 years back then. I wasn't allowed to go out back then. my 2 year older sister was. but I was allowed to stay up late. so I watched MTV. taped it on VHS. 30y later I managed to buy my most wanted tracks from that on vinyl. MADE MY LIFE!
Thank you for sharing this. So, you have seen those Studio K7 videos on MTV in the night. I was born 1971 and so I experienced first-hand the development of acid house to techno from 1988 on. I was lucky that I was old enough at this time ... Prost aus Berlin 🍻

So they were very happy, when I introduced the techno video concept. They said: Ok if we sell 500 we are break even, because me and the other designers took all the production costs. Then we sold more than 20.000 of 3 Lux I and they were blown away. Electronic Music Videos and later X-Mix CDs became their new brand.

Cool that you have such great memories connected with the 3Lux- and X-Mix- Series. I bought the mixes as VHS tapes when they came out and they have been on heavy rotation at home especially during our chill-out sessions after a extensive club night! ;) By the way, the track at the 23:00 min. mark is "Survival of the Trippest" by FX Creators. +yesterify House of Usher is an amazing tune, managed to find a half decent digital copy earlier this year and started dropping it at parties. You'll be pleased to know that it hasn't lost it's ability to make people dance! People who hadn't be born with it first came out ;)
excellent video, i found an old vhs k7 tape documentary called "lost in music" 1992/94 taken from the french/german Arte channel 1992/94, with Sven Vath, Cosmic Baby, Westbam, the 1992 Berlin love parade ...and extracts from this video.

Nee, lade die ruhig alle hoch....täglich werden Accounts gelöscht, besser es ist da.....diese Mixe sind zeitlos gut!!! ich habe übrings ganz viele "recycle or die" cds. ich muss mal schauen, ob die hier schon geladen sind, sonst tue ich die auch mal rein. Manche sind durchgemischt...ah und die "Tonträeger für Synapsenmassage"...Wenn ich mehr zeit habe, kümmere ich mich darum! LG

But 3Lux has been mixed by DJ Pushava and the music has been selected by Dj Sangeet. The VHS editions of 3Lux & 3Lux-2 had the DJ name printed on it but for some reason not on the DVD collection. CHEERS mate!

No, all the videos have been done by different artists. Check the descripton box under the video.
Would’ve had to be on Amiga. PCs were garbage back then when it came to video editing.
