For those who still have questions, stop looking at the witness as the opposite of the traveler, it is just a civilization who joined in together using the power of the dark to do what it wants which is create a reality of perfect sutleness, some in that civilization realized it was wrong and that’s why they showed us how to hurt the witness, the statues are just a depiction of that civilization and a way they can communicate, the darkness exist in thoughts and nightmares, the light exist in a physical form in life which it’s the traveler nothing more they are just peracausal forces, as for the veil it is merely a key to unite light and darkness and reshape reality bc lights only serves to create life and darkness does the opposite, only the witness uses it for evil he is not darkness himself just a being that became so powerful due to the level of sacrifice and merging of a whole civilization

Very good explanation. The fact that the only way we can kill the witness is because the witness is conflicted in Itself. I see during the raid you remember “usal tactics won’t work here” what if hear me out we damage the witness by breaking statues. Not a traditional dps phase. So for example we do mechanics to spawn sword/swords and to give us access to embrace the darkness. We all go in and break as many statues before the witness can drag us out. Or there’s a timer and if we stay inside we die so we need to escape before it kills us. If we break enough final stand will play out normally and we must use our weapons to finish it off.
TFS has some of the best cutscenes ive ever seen in destiny, really top quality production, with massive story implications and beautiful character arcs. really impressive stuff
As a father or 2 lil girls and as a gamer that started this journey back in 2014 I thank you for this recap. Money has been tight and sadly I haven't been able to purchase The Final Shape on Steam, its the only expansion I've had to put on hold because, well, there are other priorities now. Hopefully I can buy it soon, but for now, this will do. Thanks again mate!
Man I've been LOVING these Cayde/Crow interactions really feels good, and damn did I miss Cayde quirky humor. Really enjoyed the exotic sniper mission and seeing crows growth. Makes it even better if you're a hunter which lets you get different dialogue from them.
I was so happy that Targe and Sundance finally got a voice.
Then sad to watch them both die

I always just assumed that they have their own personal exotics that we haven't ever gotten, like whatever allows zavala to just hold a Titan bubble indefinitely but as a trade-off he couldn't move.

What i just realized i dont believe " death" was suppose to be a tenet that the traveller embraced.. just devotion bravery and sacrifice .. hence why always allowed guardians to be ressurected.. ... i feel they were trying to hint that death tenet was something the witness imposed
Yeah, noticed that too. They wouldn't have highlighted it was missing, and specifically kept it out when "Sundance" spoke, if it wasn't important.
Because the resurrection of Guardians after they die goes against everything the The Final Shape's dogma preaches. It's all about only the strong survive, and death proves you weren't a strong enough shape, so to bring your shape back is to subvert the logic of The Final Shape, the perfect form that deserves to exist through sheer force, will, whatever measure necessary to cut its will into existence, thus proving its right to exist above all else. If your shape died, it wasn't perfect, to resubmit it to existence is a direct afront to The Witness who is trying to finish the game and induct all into The Final Shape he sees fit, because he has proclaimed himself and his race the knife with with which to carve perfect existence. Typical God complex shit!
This is also why Nockris was exiled by The Hive, for he was taught Necromancy by Xol, and Necromancy (Yes, the Traveler is a necromancer too!), or the act of resubmitting a faulty shape to the game; is sacrilegious subversion of the entire dogma.
The fact The Witness spends a lot of time trying to subvert Guardians into his cause is what's really odd, because it would be much of the same situation, he would now owe a large chunk of his powerbase to a collective who's dogma and existence itself is an afront to his whole.... thing, just by existing. There's no universe where any Guardians fit into The Final Shape as anything other than victims of its endless embrace.
Also, through the Traveler defying this logic outright, and literally subverting the permanence of death, I feel, proves itself a more perfect shape than The Witness's, because even through death itself, the Traveler's creations can rise again, they resist all natural forces of the Universe, paracausal. This clearly in any sort of logical sense, makes the Guardian, objectively speaking a more perfect shape, in the Final Shape's own logic. The Guardian stands as The Final Shape currently. Until something subverts it somehow, and well, good luck, space magic yo.
I got emotional with Cayde and seeing some environments bringing back memories. Bungie did absolutely amazing cant wait to play that last mission.

Keith is doing an amazing job, just can’t get Lance out of my head after listening to him for years, still love the operation piccolo dialogue
The creation of the witness was so amazing. It answers so many questions and is just perfectly, dark and creepy.
Keith David was a great choice to replace Lance Reddick.

Couldn't have made a better choice on Bungie's part. We all miss Lance but at the end of the day, Keith David is the best option to continue Zavala's story.
He’s great it just sucks as everytime I hear him I think about it not being Lance and it seems off i probably just need time to adjust

This was a crescendo of an amazing story we navigate over the past 10 yrs. The campaign, the raid and the final 12 player activity - Bungie has created the most epic conclusion to any game ever! Bungie set the bar and I thank everyone of the devs for their amazing hard work - this is very beautiful and I love it!!!
Watching your Final shape recap while playing V Rising saved me some time, a lot of money and I got double the fun!

My only complaint is that Cayde never got his giant battle chicken.
With this cutscene showing our “allies” and how Mara said help deal the final blow does this mean we can possibly see them enter the raid with us and help us kill it? Will be so cool if that was the case

Its interesting, how the final baddie (the witness) chooses order over chaos. Typically the usual story, the bad guy choose chaos. The witness is similar to the golden order in Elden Ring

Ok I just thought of this. The raid is when we sever the connection the Witness made on the Traveler, and we get the 8th mission to bring the Witness down permanently
Weird to see the Witness power and abillity are inconsistent, when in Lightfall intro he seems so OP in here he bites and all but with no teeth.
Those Guardians weren't god killers mastering light and dark.
They were weakened. Also the Witness is not in their turf but in the Traveler.
The traveler is literally protecting us, we could never win a confrontation outside of the traveler

Also wondering how we got into the pale heart to begin with. It’s implied Mara *somehow* held it open for us but how did she do that? Why can she do that? If im misunderstanding and Mara didn’t hold it open, how did we get in without ending up like everyone else who tried?
@@Brian-wp9erfrom what I gathered, due to Mara and crow having a paracausal bond and crow being in the pale hart/traveller Mara is able to establish a “road” between the siblings that allows us to travel.
@fatalcircuit007 Since Mara's on the outside, she gets to decide when the portal is open. Crow is inside of the Traveler. There are no signals there for Crow to control what's happening. And I guess it could be her powers that are why she can control it. Since the Witness was able to force her to close it again.
@@fatalcircuit007 Destiny was a much better game before they started throwing the word paracausal around to vaguely explain things they aren’t creative enough to explain. I guess that makes sense though. The fact that that isn’t explained outright in the beginning is crazy though.

It's the fact that we did any damage to a god is what they are mostly talking about. It's technically wounded, hurt, damaged. Which is surprising for anyone.
@@dropkick3024yeah we now know how to kill it. Before we had nothing but hope. Now we actually know how to hurt a god. With this knowledge I see us using the swords again in the raid and we have to go back in and break the remaining statues but this time it will be harder to reach. It makes sense since a dev said “traditional strategies won’t work here” the for final stand it will try enact the final shape and we need to do normal dps to finish it. If we fail we see our guardian being finalised

Honestly? When I first played Destiny I thought Zavala was already voiced by Keith. Miss Lance but like Ikora's recasting I doubt I could pick the new lines out from the old.

Sounds like the raid will cut off the witness from the Traveler and then in the last mission we take him down or at least undo he's fusion.

I think Cayde is gonna be the new Speaker for the traveler. He is a similar being to a ghost now and could probably do what a ghost does which is allow others to use the light.
He's going to empower Zavala in the final fight mark my words

There's four extra steps to the campaign. And they did say that the raid isn't required for people to see the end of this fight. We'll probably stop the Final Shape and then the final mission will be killing it.

I can't comment on the server issues at launch, I got in pretty much straight away. So I can happily say this campaign far outshined LF. And it really needed to.
Unfortunately, its gonna take me a while to get used to Zavala's new VA. I just felt like there was not enough emotion or conviction behind the lines for him, considering what he goes through.
And the loss of Targe was another Rohan moment for me, also. TFS is the first time we hear Targe speak; we do a mission with him, and then BAM, he's killed. That should have been both an emotional and traumatic moment for both us and Zavala, and I think that fell a bit flat.
However, every thing else for me, was great. CGI cutscenes were amazing, the length of the campaign was just right, and the final boss encounter, even on normal, was both a pain and fun.
I look forward to the raid and the final mission we get!

Yep James Urbaniak. He pops up in video games from time to time. Was Doctor Zero in New Vegas, and Needles in SWTOR. He was also in uh.. Redfall.. for the 3 people who played that long enough for it to make an impression.

Will not yet apparently they have to get the portal big enough but I think they'll be there in the later missions. I really cannot wait to see Drifter having fun like blasting away at the witness with his gun.
