Porcupine Tree is a rabbit hole band for sure. They have so much great music, and I regret not finding out about them sooner. I got to see them live in DC this past tour, and it was a great show. Started listening to Steven Wilson's solo stuff, and The Pineapple Thief because of them.
"The drummer is just servicing the song...." - sir, you are watching the preeminent progressive rock drummer in the world, Mr Gavin Harrison. He and Danny Carey are often swapping paces at he top of polls picking the greatest drummer in the world. Listen to how tasty his fills are, his precision, the musicality of his playing. Listen to Anesthetize th-cam.com/video/kgwgtERCVI4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=BlEYecaNtwed8NX4 by them, again live.
Porcupine Tree and the Solo work of their lead singer Steven Wilson includes some of the best progressive rock of the 21st Century so far. ‘Anesthetize’, ‘Fear of a blank planet’, ‘Hatesong’, ‘The start of something Beautiful’, ‘Dignity’ and ‘ Herd Culling’ from the last album all by PT and from Steven Wilson’s solo work ‘ The raven that refused to sing’, ‘Deform to form a star’,’Luminol’,’Drive Home’, ‘First regret/3years older’, ‘Ancestral’, ‘home invasion/Regret no9’, ‘Detonation’, ‘refuge’, and ‘Impossible tightrope’, are all well worth adding to the reaction list. live where possible!!
Pausing in the middle of a guitar solo is like swearing in church, cant just do that.
If you want to see the drummer going absolutely insane in this band, check out Porcupine Tree- "Hatesong" (live)
This^
Great reaction! Keep the PT coming, so much good stuff you need to listen too 😁
As always I keep suggesting one of the most underrated songs by PT, if you're new: Cheating the Polygraph, live in Tilburg.
Arriving Somewhere isn't even in the top ten songs by PT on my list. Yeah it's good, but it's definitely not really musically as exciting as many of their other songs. Anesthetize (live Tilburg) also is an experience everybody should try out.
Even Less, Waiting phase one and two, Dark Matter, Dislocated Day, The Sleep of no Dreaming, Buying New Soul, are songs that are infinitely better than Arriving Somewhere, but probably not the best ones to start with, except, maybe for Tool fans...they're already used to listening to lyrics, weird time signatures, switch ups and slow moving progression. Check some of them out. Even if it's on your own time. This band has a ton of music that Tool fans probably can appreciate a lot.
Cheating the Polygraph from Tilburg is one of my absolute PT favs! Good recommendation, Sir!
Anesthetize from Tilburg is their Magnum Opus imo and a must react!
@@larslindstrom2112 mine as well!
Check out their song Anesthetize 🤘
Agreed, the video live in Tilburg is the go to version for this song.
For tool fans, I would recommend reacting to their song 'Bonnie the cat'
john Wesley singing higher vocals live- steven wilson in all the studio stuff
"Hatesong" from the same show live in Chicago plz
Why does a good song always need to have a lot of "Energy"?
Well, i guess I'm getting old...
Hear, hear..
Play the tune...
