@Mick mac michael Nonsense, Officers, like myself, have many opportunities. That most choose honour and service over money doesn't mean they had no other choice. The ideas of honour and service may be foreign to you but please don't try to drag the rest of the human race down to your level.

My Boss, in the Army, was an instructor, at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst.
This is ONLY Military Academy, that trains Officers, with Non Commisioned Officers.
It’s ALWAYS produced excellent Officers, tradition, the Regimental System, good NCOs are the backbone of the British Army, and always will be

You had to pass a rigorous academic test to get into Sandhurst. Those who wanted to be promoted sooner got into the infantry. The others who just barely made it went into the cavalry. This was of course the old days. Churchill barely made it into the cavalry which shows you how demanding the regimen was. They took in the cream of the crop of Briton's youth and that has never changed.

I don't mean to sound 'cheeky', but when I see the female officer compliment of these ceremonies, I can't help remembering an old b&w Universal movie, "Francis Joins the WACs".
In that movie, Donald O'Connor's character, Lt. Sterling, finds himself 'accidentally' transferred/assigned to the WACs.
Anyway, in the time that he's assigned to unit, he's assigned 'duties', that include conducting "close-order drill".
When I look at this video, I keep hearing Lt. Sterling, saying to his platoon of WACs... "Lift those legs! Lift those Lovely, Lovely, Legs!"
(Yes, yes, I know, BAD American! Very Bad American!)
