- Generally speaking, I don't recommend akiya investment.
Why?
There are too many houses in Japan.
More than 8 million houses/apartment units are not empty.
8 million!
Why do you want to buy akiya when there are too many akiya?
Japan's real estate market is very unique.
You need to think twice before you jump in.

Interestingly Onomichi is quite a popular place for Akiya investment, of course its where Tokyo story was filmed back in the 50s
Thanks for your comment. I did not know that. If you want to run the risk of exit, you can find a good akiya anywhere. I have never been to Onomichi so I can't say. I watched the film.
