Hello my fellow lute lover. This instrument is called a theorbo or chitaronne. It is a member of the lute family and it was developed to be used in ensemble playing, which is why it is larger (= louder sound = easier to hear among other instruments). But as you can hear it sounds quite beautiful when played solo as well.
