Most carp species can be invasive but the sucker you caught was a native fish that belongs in that river and doesn’t effect the the river in a negative way. Pretty much before you kill them know what they are.
Nice, interesting idea! I've only caught one carp ever. I caught it while trout fishing with an ultralight. It was only like 2 lbs at the most, so it didn't own me, lol
A lot of people who say some fish are trash fish..you didn't cook it right...I've tried carp but I only use them in soups....try it in soup next time boil the whole fish without guts and scales then you strain everything and get all the bones out put celery onion carrots potatoes...I've eaten saltwater catfish which a lot of people call trash fish I fried them up and gave it to the people who called it trash fish I told them it was redfish and they said it was the best fried fish they have eaten and once I told them it was saltwater catfish there minds were blown so there is no trash fish there is trash cookers
Carp are the same way lobsters and crabs they are all bottom feeders. But for weird reasons some people decided that some were for "fine cuisine" and others were trash. Also bottom feeders are essential in the ecosystem of a river. They clean the remains from the bottom but also when small are great food for bass. Lastly thanks for the great video!
I know it’s weird. However in utah there’s lots of places where they’re invasive. The DNR nets millions of pounds of carp out of Utah lake every year where carp are 70% of the biomass. But other than that I think they’re a great fish!
I caught a 22 pound carp on 6lb test line and he pulled me in my boat around the cove I was fishing in for 15 minutes. I had no idea what I hooked into, thought it was a big ole Cat. That Smalley was nice.
The bones become crunchy and edible if you deep fry it like the Chinese do! In Korea the carps are considered very nutritious and given to pregnant women!! US brought them over to feed the Americans but most don't know how to cook it LOL
Hey I love your Videos, keep it up! We met one time fishing the golf course and you caught my pole i lost their. But I have some custom merch for you because i like watching your videos and I wanna support you.
I don't understand people who cook carp an "American way" and say its bad. that's like trying too cook deep fried chicken by stir frying it and then saying its the chicken's fault. sure, carp have a fishy taste and a weird texture, but other cuisines use that as an advantage, cooking them in curry, rice etc..
I never dared eating carp so you won my respect hands down bruh! Maybe next time grind up a few boney fillets and make fish patties. We used salmon before but even smaller trout would work. Great recipes out there for fried fish patties!
Buffalo carp are the most tasty out of all carp, the trick is to know how to cook them...Never cook a carp with its skin & dark blood line meat & fillet with out bones,,, i can make carp fried fish cakes taste better then from any fish you can buy at a store.... Carp mostly eat algae, they clean water
What state is that? I live in Northern Utah and bowfish carp. I don't eat them I usually just pop them and then let the catfish and crayfish have a meal.
carps are a good fish to eat depending on the water. most bodies of waters around the US is polluted from companies along the river dumping waste n river near farm lands that has manuer run offs or pesticides will not taste very good..if u catch them in clear waters especially ice cold waters than they are good tasting..as for the bones..you just have to know how to fillet them out just like filleting a northern pike
Just a head's up, the species of Asian carp are *way* different than the common carp we have here. The Asian carp are pretty similar to cod, but I think they are pretty boney as well.
I know, i usually do, but I didn’t want to throw carcasses all on the bank because this river is next to some private farms and I didn’t want them to stink up the area:
Tell you what. If you're around missouri, let me know where you're fishing, and i will gladly rid that river of a whole lot of carp and sucker. I also eat the eggs. Good video
Carp is the best fish you have in America beautiful fish and delicious, so Americans needs to learn what good fish is and respect it , i would say the trash fish you have in America is nasty catfish, carp is the queen of fishes respect.
people complain that trout are too hard to eat because of the bones too. I have never had a problem with bones in any fish. you just chew gingerly and don't be bashful about pulling bones out of your mouth. it's not that different than spitting out sunflower seed shells to me.
@@bassntroutfishing They aren’t at all invasive. That’s literally what native means. If anything the trout that you catch are invasive. Untill a few years ago, you HAD to catch and kill these fish. They are/were very invasive and the DWR pulls up thousands in nets and kills them.
Nice, interesting idea! I've only caught one carp ever. I caught it while trout fishing with an ultralight. It was only like 2 lbs at the most, so it didn't own me, lol
They’re actually a really fun fish to catch. If there wasn’t so many of them here I bet they would be listed as a game fish!
@@bassntroutfishinguhh suckers are not invasive small fyi there a natural american fish been hear way before us
