Unfortunately it sounded like this mother taught these kids and the father how to treat her, possibly from day dot of the marriage. Didn't seem like she could be bothered demanding respect so left instead. Totally her right, of course but at some point she needs to look at the fact that almost any one she ever has a relationships with will potentially go on to treat her the same. I mean while ever some one accepts this kind of disrespect, the vast majority of people would go on to treat her the same. Maybe considering she is actually the only one she could ever hope to change, it might be an idea to change herself first.
