I’ve been seeing many Amazon FBA video lately but I like when a video is done properly, simplified and straight to the point. Well done Dan! I’m subbed.
Thank you for the video, but i think you forgot to mention FBA storage fees per day. Amazon will charge you that for storing your items at their wearhouse. Another thing is the selling fees(not the monthly fees). Every item you sell they take %14 of the price you sold the item for.
A seller account based in Canada with access to 3 markets cost $29.99. It cost more in terms of using product research tool as I paid for the entire year upfront and I think that's the most cost effective option. Ordering samples cost me a lot more as I am trying to have a variety of options in certain category. So far samples cost me US $250... I have not made up my mind yet as to the product I am selling as I want to keep my options open and have variety of products under same category to test the market.. I am prepared to spend at least US $8000 just for variety of products. Thanks so much for the valuable info! After watching till the end of your video, I am confident it will cost me at least $12000 - $15000 based on my choices... Very informative.
Dan, at least six months ago, when you file your trademark registration application, and wait about four weeks for it filter through the system, Amazon will take the fact that you have it on file and let you brand register without waiting for the actual filing.
@@DanRodgers Another point, you mentioned that it’s not required brand register but my experience is that amazon pretty much won’t let you do anything without a brand registration these days you always have to say generic and hopefully they’ll take it. So I recommend pushing through on the trademark registration you can do it yourself for just a filing fee, four weeks later to take your application number and submit it to Amazon for Brand registry.
Hi Dan, thank you for the great info! My question - can I do brand registry with IP accelerator before even do listing of my first product? When exactly I should do it? Thanks!
Great content as usual Dan! As far as getting your seller fees back, they look at whether if you created a listing or not. I created my listing 3 months before making the first sale and ask them for reimbursement however because I created the listing I wasn't able to get my money back.
Hi @DanRodgers, thank you for the video. What do you mean by “create a skeleton listing to see if we even can sell this product”. Are you saying to do this after we’ve paid for a brand trademark and filed for brand registry, that we still don’t know if we can actually sell it? Thanks in advance if you have time to respond. I’m at the stage of product is chosen, modified, being manufactured, GS1 purchased, trademark is filed and I’m waiting to file brand registry because I do not have pictures yet. But your comment makes me think…wait, I don’t know if I can actually sell my product?
Hi Dan, firstly I wanted to tell you that I learn so much from your videos, thank you for the easy to understand explanations.. My question is, with the Los Angeles ports and ships being backed up globally causing shipping delays, you said that it takes about 40 days to receive your inventory via sea. But Sellers are saying it takes 3 months to receive your inventory. Can you give me some clarity on what your experience has been in 2022? Thank you!
Thank u very much , can i ask what about , duties and import tax on cbp, some products have additional 25% on duties from china , for example wallets 8+25 =33 % ,if product cost 9$ and 500 pcs so it will be 1485$ duties tax also and toltal each units now cost additional 2,9$???? Am j right ??? Who can help me please, share your experience) is it possible write on invoice lower value ??? Some amazon sellers advise chose hts wgich dont have additional 25% donald trump duties ?? What u use when importing ??
Awesome content again, Dan! Question - do you have inspections performed on EVERY order you place with your manufacturer or usually just with the first order(s) only?
Great question Jodie! First orders are key and then over time you may become more comfortable with a supplier and can forego them (at your own risk) but the key is that the supplier should expect an inspection, they should not know you are not doing one. Also if you do forego it, get images sent to you of the final products at the least.
Hi Dan, Thank you for another great video! Just to add something I think you missed and might be helpful. Once you start doing over 10K a month in sales (not profits) which is not going to be hard if you sell products that cost over 35$, then you are obligated to pay for insurance. Based on my experience it is between 650 and 1000$ per year, depending on the product, niche, etc. P.S. This is applicable for the USA market, I am not aware of the EU.
Hi Dan. How can we make an estimated guess for the first order quantity if we know the monthly sales of top sellers and the new sellers which are different? Which one should we take as a benchmark such that we can trade off between mitigating our risk for a failure and also for going out stock if we have a lead time of 2.5-3 months?
Umer, I would base it on sellers with low reviews who are selling well. So maybe you see sellers with between 30 - 80 reviews, who are selling 300 - 900 sales per month. (think of how your listing will look in the first few weeks) I would then aim for a quantity of 500 to start and mitigate risk. Hopefully you have additional capital, then keep that aside for a re-order once you see the product selling well.
Great content Dan. Question: If I want to sell my product on Amazon-FBA and other platforms do you suggest using GS1 bar code printed on the product and then have Amazon use their FNSKU labels to cover it, this way the products can be sold everywhere with unique GS1 code or is it better to have 2 separate orders one with Amazon FNSKU printed and one with GS1 printed or is there a different way to handle situation like this. Thanks
Great question! GS1 is the way to go for your product IDs every time in my opinion BUT in terms of what goes on the product, there's 2 ways you can do this: 1) Print the GS1 UPC or EAN on the product every time (it can be intergrated into the package design - but should be small enough to cover) and then when it's being sent to Amazon, have your manufacturer cover that GS1 code with your FNSKU that you download from the listing. If the inventory goes elsewhere, your package already has the GS1 code and no need to cover it with FNSKU. 2) Only add the GS1 code to the package when required. Only add the FNSKU when required. So nothing is printed into the design but you add the labels when applicable based on the location that batch is being sent to.
Hey Dan nice video, very explicit.👌🏾 Still have some questions troubling me though😥 What about the bond and duties after shipping ?are they included in the shipping costs ? Are new sellers still not allowed to ship more than 200 units of inventory to Amazon? And do we need GS1 barcodes even for product that are not new to Amazon ? I mean, the barcodes are they per person or per product?
GS1 barcodes are per product, not per person/seller. So if you want to do whole sales like selling Nike shoes you will need to use the GS1 code Nike provides for the specific shoe. If you do private label you should use your own GS1 code for this product. Doesn't matter if the product exists already somewhere else or on Amazon and you have only put your logo on it.
Can you explain why COGS as a percentage of anticipated selling price vary in your example? What I mean...is there a rule-of-thumb relationship between COGS and anticipated selling price, and shouldn't it be the same no matter what the selling price will be? I mean, in your example, one has a COGS that is 5% of selling price, and the other is 4%. How did you arrive at that?
Hey Dan, great video as always! I think you are very optimistic to get 75% of PPC campaign paid form sales! If you take amazon referral and shipping fees you already need to cut a 20% at least. I wish I could do that! 😁
Angelo I know it appears that way, but we are actually saying that ALL PROFIT AND PRODUCT COST (eg, $20 total for each unit sold) is eaten up by PPC, then you're also putting in $250 over that initial period, if that makes sense. NOT that you make the profit and also cover 75% of the campaign. So if you run ads aggressively ($100 per day) and make 4 sales per day for 10 days = 40 sales ($20 per sale to ads) = $800 straight to ad spend Then since the total PPC cost is ($100 x 10) $1,000, your sales would have covered $800 of it and you would need to add in $200. If that makes sense.
I have a new product I'll be selling on FBA Amazon. It will sell for $14.99. After all fees, there is around $4 in profit. But it looks like with additional fees there would be zero profit in Europe. Question: Are Europeans willing to pay more due to higher fees? For example, would they buy the same product for $19.99? (Yes, I know it depends on the product but . . . )
Most manufacturers will offer packaging with the product, then you customize it, so this is included in our total here. You can also source different packaging though if that's important for your product/the existing packaging is not good quality.
Droppshipping is much harder! If you ain’t got stock. That 15/30 wait is too long!! Amazon has its market place. He’s including a lot of costs here. Trademarks doesn’t need to be added, most people don’t even sell branded stuff it’s all from China. Bare in mind you don’t need to customise your product until your ready to make your brand., Listing image. In the day of smart phones and nice or blank scenery come on man, you don’t need to pay for this and if you are it won’t cost you anything. To start fully, you need about 4/5k MAXX and that covers everything he’s talking
Hey crypto, this video breaks down ALL possible costs for large-scale, private label orders of higher cost (sell price) products. You can start with $100 but not with this strategy here so maybe our content isn't suited to your selling model. I am an Amazon seller and yes, I do partner with my favorite services while often providing viewers a discount. If viewers use an affiliate link, yes, that supports the work we put out here. If a video is ever sponsored, I mark it as such so all are aware.
Easily in my opinion, it's more like a pendulum. Lots during a product's development, very little once a product is launched. Empire Flippers recently said 10 hrs per week is optimum once you're up and running and ever looking to sell.
I definitely learned something new today! Quick question Dan. My product launched 2 weeks ago and my very first review is a 1 star review, Because the customer used their own screw driver instead of the one that came with the unit, thus stripping the screws. Aside from contacting customer and offering refund, what else can i do to remove the negative review? I live in Canada so I don't have much friends that have a dot com amazon account so they can't leave me 5 star reviews. Do you recommend to delete the listing and start new or hunt for 5 star reviews? Any guidance will be appreciated!
Sorry to hear this Rich that's the worst. 1) Can you find the customers ORDER? Try match their name or use the time frame to find their ORDER in Orders page. 2) From there you can try reahc out to the customer, offering a refund or replacement using Amazons auto system. 3) Issue the chosen option by the customer 4) You can then also reach out with a follow up (I can't remember the name of the message) but also an Amazon auto message from the Orders page which asks them if their issue was fixed and if they want to update feedback On NEW LISTING, if you have a lot of FBA inventory at warehouse then NO, don't start a new one as the FNSKU is linked. If you have little inventory, and the customer does not remove it, then you can consider this and then get the new FNSKU. If you keep the listing, try get them to remove it, otherwise over emphasize that using your own tools will strip the screws in your images and bullets - This will reduce the impact of their review. VINE or INFLEUNCERS or FOCUS GROUPS could also help you get positive reviews to balance it.
Thank you for connecting with us. Well this is something cannot be told without having knowledge of a few things. So please let us know about the mentioned things so we can discuss further; • Marketplace (USA or UK) • Have you created the Seller Account? • Business Model (Private Label or Wholesale) • Investment in USD • Do you have knowledge of these business models? Let us make it easy for you: • If your budget is within $6000 - $10000 (UK Marketplace) • If you budget is $10000+ (USA Marketplace) Private Label In Private Label we build our brand by doing MARKET RESEARCH to HUNT a PROFITABLE PRODUCT and then work on its Design, Finding the Manufacturer, Sampling, Ordering that takes around 2 - 3 Months EST. Once inventory gets done, we arrange Inspection Company for quality assurance and then its shipment whether by the manufacturer himself or Freight forwarder to AMZ Warehouse, Meanwhile we work on Keyword Research, Competitor Research and Listing Content Creation (Photography, Title, Bullets and Description) as well as TRADEMARK Registration. Shipment Takes around 4 - 6 weeks, as soon as it reaches to AMZ Warehouse we start working on its ADVERTISING to rank it on multiple Keywords to boost our visibility as well as Reviews Building to get social proof (CUSTOMER TRUST). So it is the complete process of around 6 Months EST. Revenue we get from the first CYCLE of inventory will be used in purchasing the second inventory as first inventory usually be used for the SAKE OF RANKING OUR PRODUCT to MAKE IT STABLE IN THE MARKET. So the revenue we get from the first listing will be used for replenishment so we won’t need to work on ranking stuff (BURNING) etc. in second cycle so all we get will be our PROFIT. Our Services for PL: • We are trained VA team by reputable ecommerce network (ENABLERS) and help you from Scratch to build your brand and assist you in all above steps require to build a successful asset. • Our charges are $250 / Month (for 1 PL Product) for 4 Hours of Daily Work. If you want to add multiple Products - $150 will be added for each product as our hours and man power will also be increased. • We do daily reporting on whatever task is being done and its output as well. • We use to have a weekly call with client to inform him about overall work done during the week. • Working days are MON - FRI. ACCOUNT CREATION WILL BE DONE BY CLIENT HIMSELF (WE WILL NEED CHILD ACCOUNT ACCESS) Wholesale In wholesale we hunt the already built branded items and find their distributors or brand’s contact to get authorization of reselling their items on amazon. As compared to PL it is cheap business model and can be started with minimum $5000 of investment. For wholesale we require multiple things to start; • Company Registered in that country • EIN if USA, VAT at 20% if UK • Seller Permit ID (if USA) • Website on the name of company (need to show to brands that we are selling different brands already) • Email • Mobile Number Wholesale Product Hunting, Brand Permission, Listing and Sourcing everything takes around 4 - 6 weeks as we will be sourcing from the same country. But Profit Margins in wholesale would be lower as brand could allow multiple sellers to sell their products so everyone would be competing for the same product of the same brand so lower price seller will be the winner that’s why we use to keep low price in order to win the sale and do multiple products I.e one product is making 500 USD profit so we will be doing 4 5 products that makes 500 x 5 = $2500. 4 to 5 products can be done easily within the total budget of $5000. Our Services for Wholesale: • We are trained VA team by reputable ecommerce network (ENABLERS) and help you from Scratch to start and make a profitable wholesale business. • Our charges are $250 / Month for 8 Hours of Daily Work. Within the working hours we do as many as work can be done. • We do daily reporting on whatever task is being done and its output as well. • We use to have a weekly call with client to inform him about overall work done during the week. • Working days are MON - FRI. Please let us know if you have any question left. sanwalva90@gmail.com

(think of how your listing will look in the first few weeks)
I would then aim for a quantity of 500 to start and mitigate risk.
Hopefully you have additional capital, then keep that aside for a re-order once you see the product selling well.
For anyone wondering, this isn’t a video about arbitrage or wholesale, this video is about doing private label through Amazon FBA.
Superb!
Hi Dan, is this Product Research Sheet including the latest 2022 FBA fees?
How about japan side? Do have any idea?

Great content Dan. Question: If I want to sell my product on Amazon-FBA and other platforms do you suggest using GS1 bar code printed on the product and then have Amazon use their FNSKU labels to cover it, this way the products can be sold everywhere with unique GS1 code or is it better to have 2 separate orders one with Amazon FNSKU printed and one with GS1 printed or is there a different way to handle situation like this. Thanks
Great question!
GS1 is the way to go for your product IDs every time in my opinion BUT in terms of what goes on the product, there's 2 ways you can do this:
1) Print the GS1 UPC or EAN on the product every time (it can be intergrated into the package design - but should be small enough to cover) and then when it's being sent to Amazon, have your manufacturer cover that GS1 code with your FNSKU that you download from the listing.
Hi Dan, im one of the members, can you please do a video about how to drive traffic from instagram and Facebook to Amazon?
Great idea Pham!
@@DanRodgers looking forward for the video!
Hey Dan nice video, very explicit.👌🏾 Still have some questions troubling me though😥
What about the bond and duties after shipping ?are they included in the shipping costs ?
Are new sellers still not allowed to ship more than 200 units of inventory to Amazon?
And do we need GS1 barcodes even for product that are not new to Amazon ? I mean, the barcodes are they per person or per product?
GS1 barcodes are per product, not per person/seller.
So if you want to do whole sales like selling Nike shoes you will need to use the GS1 code Nike provides for the specific shoe.
If you do private label you should use your own GS1 code for this product. Doesn't matter if the product exists already somewhere else or on Amazon and you have only put your logo on it.
Hey, what about FBA fees? I've finally launched and getting sales and amazon is taking 57% from my sales price?!
Thank you for sharing 🙏🏽 I’m live in Uk 🇬🇧 what barcode I should use EAN or UPC ?
You will get an EAN from GS1 UK and then you can use that for any market :)
Thank you so much 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Hi Dan!
What about Duties and taxes on shipment?
We added a customs bond here in the shipping fee to cover the payment of duties and taxes
Brilliant
Can you explain why COGS as a percentage of anticipated selling price vary in your example? What I mean...is there a rule-of-thumb relationship between COGS and anticipated selling price, and shouldn't it be the same no matter what the selling price will be? I mean, in your example, one has a COGS that is 5% of selling price, and the other is 4%. How did you arrive at that?
The hardest part for me is finding a item I want to start I’m approved to sell. But what item should I start with. Whats paths to take?
19:44 Unfluencer? How do you find one? :-)
Do I really need a registered brand, logo and so to sell on Amazon? Can I just sell the product as an individual seller?
Hey Dan, great video as always! I think you are very optimistic to get 75% of PPC campaign paid form sales! If you take amazon referral and shipping fees you already need to cut a 20% at least. I wish I could do that! 😁

So if you run ads aggressively ($100 per day) and make 4 sales per day for 10 days = 40 sales ($20 per sale to ads) = $800 straight to ad spend
Then since the total PPC cost is ($100 x 10) $1,000, your sales would have covered $800 of it and you would need to add in $200.
If that makes sense.

Is daily 3-4 hours enough for fba?
Easily in my opinion, it's more like a pendulum. Lots during a product's development, very little once a product is launched.
Empire Flippers recently said 10 hrs per week is optimum once you're up and running and ever looking to sell.
It costs all your savings and your mental health. Truly not worth it.
3) Issue the chosen option by the customer
4) You can then also reach out with a follow up (I can't remember the name of the message) but also an Amazon auto message from the Orders page which asks them if their issue was fixed and if they want to update feedback
On NEW LISTING, if you have a lot of FBA inventory at warehouse then NO, don't start a new one as the FNSKU is linked.

Private Label
In Private Label we build our brand by doing MARKET RESEARCH to HUNT a PROFITABLE PRODUCT and then work on its Design, Finding the Manufacturer, Sampling, Ordering that takes around 2 - 3 Months EST.

Wholesale
In wholesale we hunt the already built branded items and find their distributors or brand’s contact to get authorization of reselling their items on amazon. As compared to PL it is cheap business model and can be started with minimum $5000 of investment.
For wholesale we require multiple things to start;
• Company Registered in that country
• EIN if USA, VAT at 20% if UK
• Seller Permit ID (if USA)
• Website on the name of company (need to show to brands that we are selling different brands already)
• Email
• Mobile Number
Wholesale Product Hunting, Brand Permission, Listing and Sourcing everything takes around 4 - 6 weeks as we will be sourcing from the same country.

@@DanRodgers Thanks Dan.
I didn't know there was an option to message the seller to ask if they can update their review, I thought it was just refund message option. Also, can you please link a video or website on what are focus groups and how they work?
What about LLC?
Hey Dan, great video as always! I think you are very optimistic to get 75% of PPC campaign paid form sales! If you take amazon referral and shipping fees you already need to cut a 20% at least. I wish I could do that! 😁
