Got my MDV D2 folder for Christmas and already in love with it! If I may be so bold, suggest placing a SMALL blister on outside of blade so you can open it like a traditional folder when you need to slowly or quietly open like an old school folder. Just gives another option for opening methodology. Titanium blade definitely in my future. Cheers and Happy Holidays.

Great idea. I wish the would stop using D2 for rust issues. So many better options and SW Florida is very humid. Alot to like for sure.

Thank you both for your input. I agree with the thumb stud and will attempt to place that feature on the future generations of the blade. I have a few upgrades in mind.
As far as the D2 being our main steel choice, it’s tool steel. It has a lot of great features that other metals fall short on he comparing price, availability, durability, etc. Since this comment comes up often, I’d like to know what kinds of metals you would like to see? Just remember we have a broad clientele and need to provide a good quality without also hiking our prices past what they currently are.
Please understand that we have to order a minimum of 1000 units for any changes or versions of the blade. There’s a lot of manufacturing that people don’t understand. For example, I agree and will place a thumb stud on the future generations. But that adjustment alone will cost 1000 units, a redesign, and cost of back and forth to create a good prototype.
I will also state that most people don’t know how to take care of their knives. I wear my knives all over the place. Sweat on them and live in Florida. I have zero rust issues. Then again, I clean my blades after use and I oil them, just like I would with my carry pistol.
Moving on to the thumb stud……I train military units all the time that need the ability to open a folder while not alerting someone to its presence. The proper way to do that is a two hand open. Which you can do with this knife. You can also do it with one hand if you know how to do it properly…. I use the triangle like a thumb stud and have no issue. But even with a thumb stud, the dexterity some needs to do that “silently” is pretty significant. I like thumb studs on the folder but I feel some things are skill based and not necessarily due to a lack of a feature. I’ll do a video of me opening this one handed silently. And two handed.
I know this is a long response. I apologize for that. I’m just throwing out the counter points as both suggestions have been thoroughly vetted and I feel our customers should have a good understanding of why we chose the features we did. The points I listed above were the reasons we went with our current design. We had other adjustments but it would have pushed production out even longer. It took 2 years to get this to us as it is. 😕
I hope both of you had a great holiday. Thanks for all the support!

@@sliceymike Thanks for the response! D2 stands about 2 of 10 on corrosion and I think when we look at the trade off's the major player that comes to mind is edge retention. Considering those two are near the top of my list I would look at the following with that in mind and I will start with PREMIUM 1st: Premium = M390 and CPM-20CV as my two choices there. Next down the tier based on my criteria would be CPM S35VN and S30V. Of course there are many more options and higher prices, but with the 2 criteria I value being outdoors in South Florida by the ocean these are pretty solid options over D2. Appreciate designers with a passion to make their good products GREAT! Thank you

@@Aviation_Professional lol I absolutely agree. I would love those metals!!! Have any idea of how high the price would be on switching to them? We have priced them. I will comment that the amount of “I wish you used a different metal” is very very small versus the “your blades are expensive” comments. I take great pride in designing good blades for personal protection. But I also understand I am part of a business and I cannot force something that will ultimately hike the price resulting in less sales versus more sales. Now I will say you seem to looking for high end blades from custom knife makers. That unfortunately isn’t our main clientele. That would be more Grays Customs. He uses those metals often. And the cost definitely shows. I assume you don’t mind paying for the extra cost. You are a great customer to have but a very rare kind of customer. Especially in this current economy. We might be able to do that if people start having more expendable income.

@@sliceymike Spot on for sure. I am most likely going to still support your business now or in the near future with your next generation MDV!! Best wishes personally and professionally for 2023~!

Absolutely LOVE this knife!!! So much so, I ordered a second one in case anything happens to the primary one. I bought 2 blem knives. The only issue for both was the loose glass breaker. Fixed both with Loctite red. Now, I have $850 worth of knives for under $300! Total win!!! Easily my favorite edc knife ever. The only one I ever swap it with is an Emerson CQC-8. I use that if I think I’ll be needing heavy use that day. I wouldn’t use this knife for that because it needs to be ready for its primary purpose. They put so much thought into this knife. To me, it’s the HK P7 of knives. (If you know, you know.)

You can always tell when non knife guys develop knives and they are trash. These guys actually put a lot of thought into what they wanted. It may not be for everyone, but everyone can use it and adapt it into their own practice.

What I haven't seen stated *yet* is .. what is the glass breaker made from? It's too tiny to actually tell, small ceramic ball? Is what I'm guessing
