The marriage proposal at 14 was from a soldier who thought she was older and was shocked to find out she was only 14, and I think Jane may have died from typhoid, which was why Edward freaked out when Lillie contracted it. Jane was the love of his life and he never really got over her death, which was partly why he kept comparing Lillie unfavorably to her in front of other people.

And as a side note, did you know Lake Co. was part of Napa until 1861? The borders of the S.W. portion of Lake Co. has changed a few times over the years after some political haggling and a few land swaps between the two sister counties. Knoxville would be another example of a land swap between Lake and Napa Co.
I like your video! The Misfit Toys new album in 2023 has a tribute song to Lillie by placing their song over clips from the BBC production starring Francesca Annis th-cam.com/video/6a7kjMNBke4/w-d-xo.html. A beautiful song about being swept away by another person to your very depths. I though Francesca the perfect choice to portray her. The sexual tension between her and the Oscar Wilde character could have made for another series all together. I thought it insightful without being judgemental.
