  • Running out of electricity stinks. I've found a way to use about 1/4 the power for all my computing needs by using my phone and Samsung DeX.

I have a Lenovo (IdeaPad Flex 5i) Chromebook with i3-1115G4 CPU. It was a third of the price of my S24 Ultra. But it feels more performant than DeX to me with more options, again, for me as a software developer. It also can run a big external 4K monitor smoothly, if I need it to, no frame drops on 4K TH-cam videos. Power consumption of the laptop itself is about 10W. For now I use Lenovo, in bed it can rest comfortably on my chest while I watch videos, but I prepared DeX with all I need as a backup.

Just to mention, for sake of completeness, Chromebook also runs Android apps and Linux applications. It's something between a tablet and PC, but as I see it slightly more on the PC side, while DeX is slightly more on the tablet side.
