in little league there was a really good pitcher, and whenever we thought the ball would get by the catcher we would give it a terrible swing and run to first, the kid threw really hard and the mound was so close, the catcher had a hard time catching it and the ball would bounce off the backstop really far lol
I remember as a kid seeing a dropped third strike on Bo Jackson and being confused what he took off running to first on a strike out. Brett refused to leave the base, so Bo was called out anyway.
I watched the rangers one live knowing already that they won almost all of their one run games last year and couldn't believe it when they scored 2 with 2 outs in the 9th in that game after odor reached on the k.
I've said this before, but I enjoy your videos more than many other TH-cam sports highlights channels, and one of the better reasons for that is because you don't show 50 replays after each clip. As always, nice job.
I was just thinking about this today, but let’s say you’re down 0-2 in the count and the pitcher throws a wild pitch that you know is going to get by the catcher, wouldn’t it be smart to swing at the air and take off to first? I was checking this video to see if anyones done that before.
One that should have been here but wasn't was when JP Arencibia struck out but the catcher Chris Stewart dropped the called third strike, and then Stewart's throw to Lyle Overbay hit Arencibia in the back and 2 runs scored. mlb.mlb.com/shared/video/embed/embed.html?content_id=30114381&width=400&height=224&property=mlb (This should have been inning over, but it ended up going down as a strikeout-passed ball-error with both runs unearned.)
Suit I’m pretty sure it’s still a strikeout for the pitcher, so you can have 4 strikeouts in an inning, but it’s not a complete strikeout? I’m not 100% correct me if I’m wrong.
@@noahbeyer1141 I looked it up a couple weeks ago and you're right. The pitcher gets a strikeout but an out isn't recorded. The batter counts as an un earned run if he scores.
IF THAT IS TRUE WHY DOESNT EVERY HITTER RUN TO FIRST THE FIRT TIME HE GETS A STRIKE. AND WHY R U SURPRISED THAT I DONT KNOW IT I DONT CARE ABOUT BASEBALL THOSE TEAMS ARE MEANT TO ENTERTAIN ME THATS ALL THEY R SUPPOSED TO DO. THEY R PLAYING BASEBALL TO ENTERTAIN PEOPLE AFTERALL
erin green if the ball gets dropped on the third strike you can run to first as long nobody is on first base,if there are two outs and he drops the ball you can run even if there is a runner on first. and they play because they love the game not because of entertainment
If there was ever a dumb, stupid rule, this is it. i never understood what went through the persons mind that thought this was ever a good idea. its plain stupid, always was, always will be
2:36 Sandoval swings as a pitch that bounces through his legs.
have to swing or it won't count right? lol
@@moonscar119 lol
Martin Gardner lol
Bro thought it was cricket
The play at 0:57 is something extraordinary. Never seen something like that.
Was the out call overturned? Looked like he beat the throw and the 3B didn't have the ball when he tagged him.
Yeah it was, but it still was pretty amazing he almost got to 3rd base on a dropped 3rd strike :)
So he did get to third then.
Yes, that was crazy, that was when Prince Fielder wouldn't get hurt, I feel bad, he had such a great career, and could have played a little more.
It was Rougned Odor, not Fielder.
Dude almost had a triple on a strikeout
He did, player dropped the tag. Not sure if the ump fixed the call or not.
@@Redsfreak19 the call was overturned from what I’ve read in the comments of this video
Does the batter get an rbi if he gets to first and a man on 3rd gets home like in thsi first clip?
@Joey Mcdavid I wouldn't think so I guess it would fall under a steal
0:46 you'll never see a worse passed ball than that.
A high iq player would purposely whiff at a wild pitch with 2 strikes and take off for first
I did that once in little league lol
I was out cause im slow
@@yessir2873 lol
In the little leagues yes, high school.. maybe. Anything above that you have to assume the catcher is going to glove it or keep it in front of him.

pence did that in this video!
Some of these hitters swung at those horrible pitches because they knew they'd get by the catcher. Pretty smart.
Kyle Repinski no dude lol
Sandolav swung at a ball that went through his legs
1:01-that was almost a strikeout home run!
ikr lol
Did one of these in Little League lmao

I never knew about this rule until I started umpiring little league baseball
One of the weirdest rules in the MLB, and they have a lot of them.
Check out 3:00. Ump makes the call WAY too fast. 3rd baseman cant control the ball and the runner should be safe.
Brammy007a cheeky fucker

This isn't my favorite rule. It really spices up the game.
It is, or it isn't? Your comment almost seems contradictory, like you don't want to spice up the game.
What about every Knuckleball pitcher ever?

2:43 this isn't kickball!
1:18 lol wht happend to the ball it flew
1:10 that was safe open you're eyes ump
What a nasty call 1:10
Can a baseball fan tell me if these still count as strike outs on the players records?
Yes it is a strikeout for both the pitcher and batter in the stats

Do best diving plays
Jim Joyce made the call at third.
How about that runner going to 3rd called out - but ball gets away.
I liked the part where he dropped the third strike
How is this scored? Is it a walk? Does it just list it as a strikeout and then you have 28+ outs? Is it a hit?

The official score rules it a Striekout, Passed Ball/Wild Pitch
Sandobal should be ashamed of himself. Making 15 plus million a year and can not keep himself in shape. Ball hit him in his oversized left cheek.
Still just baseball and keep it that way
David Productions I agree
013 so when there is a strike u can still run o first thanks mlb ill try it

Trevor Patience you sound so fucking stupid
So you don't care about baseball, but the teams are meant to entertain you. Which wouldn't matter since you don't care about baseball.
wait what is that a rule? I never knew!
What the heck did I just watch I'm so confused right now
Sandoval got megged
Arguably the dumbest rule in baseball
👋 👋 hi
i fucking hate this rule WHO CAME UP WITH THIS

Just Gaming Around if the catcher drops the ball on the third strike, the batter can run. It doesn't happen often.
