Climbing and skiing the south face of Store Blåmann on Kvaløya

Store Blåmann is the highest mountain on #Kvaløya in northern #Norway and has this iconic north face. Less spectacular is the south face, however its offering some backyard adventures as well. It has one very prominent and big couloir and the route we climbed is just left (west) of it. A nice 30m WI3 ice pith is leading into a gully system which is leading towards a photogenic cornice at around 600m above sea level. From here its possible to access the big couloir with maybe an abseil or so. We skied the same way down as we climbed up. Exposed and nice skiing with some downclimbing depending on the conditions.

Awesome adventure! I visit Tromsø in january last year for a week and stayed for another one, what an amazing place! especially the view of the fjords. Saludos from Spain!
