I'm sure I'm older than you, I'm 74 with a 21 Duramax. But when I watch yor video's it's like listening to my grandfather. You make the most sence for people, in a sinceess world. Keep up the good work, I enjoy your comments and knowledge!
I could tell this man is honest and I absolutely respect how he’s always helping other people with their truck repairs!!!
A good man.
C Farmer is the best! Professional videos..keeps his cool..zero foul language!
I'm the nephew with the busted oil pan and ruined motor. 😆 Very informative video! Great job!
Yes sir, that was crazy. I should've posted the pic of us swapping the engine
My favorite quote ( learn from the mistakes of others. You’ll never live long enough to make them all your self ) It nice to see you rant you should do it more often. Nothing funnier or more educational then listening to someone the has been there.
Oh and I’m still chuckling about kicking open the door while using the bathroom 🤣
Great video glad you made it home!
You are right about mechanics. I found a good one once, but I moved away from that area so I do everything myself now. Most of the dealer's shops are overpriced and worthless. I'm convinced that some cheapo oil change places put in used oil because nobody knows the difference.
The best advice I heard from you was “live below your means.” I’ve lived well below my means since I started seriously working in high school. I’m 58 this year and retired from the military and a retired educator. I live off the interest from my savings alone. It can be done and I taught and modeled this for my son. Four years out of college and he bought himself a nice home and his mortgage is his only debt. Debt free living is possible and too bad very few people have the discipline to do it. Keep educating others with your videos and maybe the number of self-sufficient people will rise. 🏍🇺🇸🎒
I love your optimistic attitude and willingness to teach and help others. Great video as always!
Thank ya, hope you guys are doing good
If you want to solve your cooler line troubles order lines from Deviant Performance.
Great video as usual. you provide helpful tips. I use to live in Livermore - now i am happily out of Cali.
Great video enjoyed watching great info
Think I saw some winter rain x in your bed. I'm a big fan of that all year long. Good video. 👍
Thank you
Nice commentary on the Mechanic and how they will take advantage of you.
I just snagged injector connectors from the dealer, and the rest off amazon! #5 on our 22 is giving us fits again. and a #8 glowplug on our 19.
Excellent content
Thank you!
My 22 ram 3500 is in the shop now with only 75k miles getting a new rear end put in. If it wasn’t under warranty it would’ve already been fixed and I woulda been back on the road but it’s been at the dealership for a month “still waiting on parts”.
Being able to work on your own truck is probably the most important part. I was running short on time and was going to have a dealership service my transmission they quoted me $500 bucks needless to say that same $500 bucks just bought me everything to service my transmission and service my front and rear differential plus my transformer case with a little left over for the cold beer I’m gonna enjoy while doing it when I get home 😂
Speak-it my brotha…I believe what you said is 100% accurate.
Great video.
Thank you!
I'm always getting something from your videos. Either new information or a confirmation that what I was thinking was the right thing to do. Keep up the excellent work. I'm almost ready to finally pull the trigger and start hauling this summer. Hope to run into you on the road.
God Bless you my man! Dropping nothing but gems of knowledge!
Thank you!
Awesome video Farmer, I subbed after I watched your first video awhile back, as an owner of a 2018 Duramax myself these videos are worth there weight in gold. Btw I'm up in Montana and you are right about all that spotty cell service, bad roads with all the mountain passes and not a lot of options to be had out on the road, so if you are ever in a bind up this way let me know maybe I could help out. Anyway keep up the great videos!
Great video and much respect to you sir! You tell it like it is, you don't sugar coat it at all. Much respect!!
You are absolutely right about doing your own maintenance and minor repairs yourself. It's a great feeling afterwards knowing I saved a ton of money and knowing it is done correctly. Though, there are some people that are not very mechanically inclined and only learn by repetition, the majority of people underestimate themselves in their ability and would surprise themselves if they gave it a try. I'm kind of like you, not an expert but just a hobbyist not afraid to try something myself, with the help of the TH-cam University of course. lol And always being willing to help someone out or showing them something that I may have learned, or vice versa.
Great Info , The info you provide has saved me a lot of time and money. I am glad you are taking the time out to explain the codes and fixes. I appreciate you. Keep up the good work look forward to the next vids.
Another great video! I have a lot of respect for you sir. Hopefully I’ll meet you someday out on the road.
Can you make a Video about your short bed setup. I'm running the same truck with a autoslide 5th wheel, tool box and 60gal tank.
You replaced your MAP sensor yet? I seen a S&B MAP Sensor Spacer Kit that seems to do the trick. Wondering if you’d heard about it or recommend it. Your content saves us all $100 an hour lol.
Great video and a lot of dam good advice. Hope you’ve got it fixed and back on the road. Stay safe bud
I watch all your videos. But man this video was one of your best. You talked about the raw truth out here. Most youtubers in rv transport just talk about how good it is an whatever else they can come up with to make it look better then what it is. But what you said in this video is the real raw situations we have out here an ya need to know how to work on your own stuff point blank. Love it man. Keep the raw positively going!
Great Video.
You are totally correct in your thoughts. If you understand how your equipment works the situation that is presented to you. You will be more relaxed and have a understanding how to fix it.
I have determined for some reason my truck does not like synthetic oil or the 5w40. I can’t explain it but have decided to go back to 15w40. I have purchased my RotellaT4 15w40 8Qts and 2 Qts of Lucas as you use in you truck. The reviews I saw on Delvac had very poor flow tests when cold but the T4 tested well. I am soon due for a oil change in 5% and will change both the oil and fuel filter at this time. Thank You for all of your input and concern.
Safe Travels
Excellent video. Great advice. Love those solder connectors. You are so right about keeping your business expenses in perspective. Stay safe out there.
I ran 90 quite a bit last summer and loved it. I went 1st week of November and got in quite a bit of snow. Haven't been back since. Looks like I'll try it again in a couple weeks. I just ran back and forth to Texas in the winter. Not as profitable but better than being stuck.
Excellent video as usual. Thanks for the info. No one knows when this information can bail someone out of a tight spot.
Thank you!
Good night, dear~ what a superb ~ talk to you soon~
Hopefully your tranny line replacement went OK. I replaced all 3 on my 2012 last week. I went with hydraulic hose because every video I watched put in hydraulic hose because trying to get a new OE line in is almost impossible. 20 years ago I could only do the basic stuff but now I'm much better. The shops want $140/hour Canadian to work on vehicles so I'm will to try almost anything.
Great Video! Love the new L5P and old L5P.
Thank you!
Great video. It’s funny you just posted this video tonight. I am in Pennsylvania on the way to Massachusetts and just had to do a number two injector harness on my 19. I completely agree with you. You have to have parts with him. My dad and I are continuously, looking for a tire machine and balancer for ourselves also
PS I know a good Chevy diesel tech, if you’re ever up in Indiana/lower Michigan. He worked at a dealership, and he takes care of quite a few transporters.
Thank you! Ouch #2 is a tough one. Thank ya sir
Awesome load of knowledge sir ! Always look forward to learning something new from your videos. And your right anything can happen out here on the road, I had a flatbed loose a pallet made of 4x4’s in front of me in Oregon the other week, luckily the only thing it torn up was my rock guard and not the camper. Good luck with your truck and I hope to see you out on the road one day.
Thank you! O wow... tasty could've been bad. Glad it only got the rock guards. Looking forward to it
That 12.7 will make you money. Where that cat or Cummins, cost you money. I'm like you give me that classic and a 12.7 Detroit.
Another great video. One question is the pigtail a different part number on a 2020 duramax. Thanks and stay safe.
Great video as usual, honest and not sugar coated.
My passenger mirror is still working great after following your advice, thank you!
I have a couple of questions: I noticed on the 2020 that you fixed the injector connector on had 190k (or about) on it, has it been a good reliable truck otherwise?
What year and make is the truck that ran over the roll of barbed wire?
Thanks.
You cracked 500k yet? How about a followup to your 300k mile video? And what’s the story on the wheels?
Same thing as far not wanting others working on my truck.
Hey farmer, love ur channel, always been curious but didn’t wanna seem rude by asking, but why did u opt for 6 1/2 bed srw?
Not rude at all. I was booming semis at the time and it was hard to fit a long bed or a dually on the boom trailer. I have pics in the 300 mile review video. At that time i had no idea i would be hauling campers but this truck has done me an exceptional job. If i had to buy another truck I'd be looking for another 2018 identical to this one with low miles
@@CFarmer I have a 2019 gmc L5p. (Drw) Just hit 110k so far I’ve replaced a fuel rail. Other than that I hope to see the mileage you’ve achieved . Great content!
Hay man how many miles do you have on that truck currently..
I watch all your vids i get a kick out of them..
I recently did a trip from yakima wa to rib lake Wisconsin..
2022 3500 hd duramax gmc
Great video driver I have a quick question do you have to clear the codes when you repair a injector hardness ?
Everyone should know things about there vehicles these days cause it’s what make’s income possible and without it you are zero. Vehicles are too expensive to just go out and purchase daily sadly when problems occur
I better order some of those pig tails and other items to have just in case. I'll have to check if my 22 Duramax uses the same part #. thanks again for outstanding video/tips! This is why I was planning to run to CA with you and Mr T a few times but darn rates and loads dropped into the tank before we could run together..... Is that your 1st time having coolant issues?
I would keep at least one pig tail. If you start leaning twords California run let me know and I'll try to work it out where we're on same schedule. The leaking behind the bumper was transmission fluid. I just finished replacing auxiliary transmission lines and ac condenser this evening.
@@CFarmer that's right... I had to de-lease for a while as I pay off debt from getting truck setup then I'll be back soon... I'm like you after many years of working this is one job that each day I loved what I saw and helping other drivers with my limited knowledge was a joy! ttyl Glad you got those installed...
Great video as always.
Quick question...what do you run for DEF?
Thank you! I get it from the pump at ta and petro mostly
Seems if you want to be any type of equipment operator, your best option is to go to school for mechanics. A good mechanic can make almost any business successful.
A while back you got rid of your slider hitch have you ever regretted it or did Indiana ever say anything to you about it ? I have a short bed Silverado also .
Indiana Transport does not require a slider hitch for 5th wheel on short beds
Do u have a contract w a place that sells campers or? Any advice on how 2 get started? Thnx
Need a little advice.. if you can help
I'll do my best
Your videos have helped us out a lot and I would like to send you some money. Is the cash app you have the one to send to...
The Cash App in the description is good but you don't have to do that. I'm just glad to help
Sup brother , ya man mechanics are hard to find.
It’s the damn warranty companies make them bitter I bet.
I’m trying to get my trans to shift like it should.
Got truck not long ago and just thought it would just need trans reset but that was not it. Went to Duramax tuners got a tcm. 1600$ lol. That did maybe 20% better. No way sent it back.
It’s at dealer in wood river IL
Going to have them do a Calibration Update Bulletin: #17-NA-171
I told them also to check to make sure shifting strategies are set right and performing right.
Also have a appointment for Carl’s 4/4 in Bartelso IL to have another guy look at it. Josh. He has same truck.
Let me tell ya no one speaks trans. It would be like going to your nearest Chinese restaurant and trying to explain what is wrong with what your feeling and you are left with dead end after dead end.
It’s g d dealer is jumping right out and telling me they will do what they can but if that do t get it you will prob need a trans lol.
One of the strongest trans ever built and she shits the bead at 40k
The g d seat is not even broke in. The stealing wheel is still like brand new.
That was a dealer I went to first and I think I said to much so they go ape shit crazy. Got to give them tasks to do then move to the next thing.
Ya can’t tell them it needs air in the tires bc it will mess them up. Just say check trans shift calibrations make sure they are with in speck.
