      Hi,
      I have a question for you on the temperature gauge of the dashboard.
      My temperature operates normally with the needle at halfway mark (roughly at horizontal position).
      Due to an accident, my engine temperature went up, and found my radiator leaking. Replaced the radiator. Everything seemed OK. Several months later, the engine temperature shows above normal on several occassions, especially when on a slow-moving traffic with stops and starts, bumper to bumper traffic.
      My Question:
      1. What is causing the temperature to be above normal at times of slow moving traffic?
      2. Where is the temperature gauge on the dashboard sensing? Where is the sensor located?
      Note:
      1. I have changed the thermostat that opens/closes the water cooling the engine.
      2. I have replaced the water pump that circulates the water around the engine.
      3. Replaced the radiator cap and cleaned the coolant spare tank.
      4. Flushed the radiator by opening the stopcock of the radiator, and draining out the water inside. Then refilling up the radiator after tightening the stopcock at the bottom of the radiator.
      5. Radiator not leaking.
      Hope to hear your expert opinion.

      @@usjtraffic hello. Really, I'm not an expert - so just take this as a random guy on the internet's uninformed opinion:
      If it only gets hot when you're stopped, i would guess the radiator fan isn't working. Maybe the fan itself, fan clutch (if the fan is belt-driven), or some sensor which is supposed to tell the fan to engage.
      I think the temperature gauge shows engine coolant temperature.

    Your videos about the toyota avanza are nice and good 👍
    Nice if you can make more videos about the toyota avanza because the TH-cam doesn't have many videos about toyota avanza they are very little

    How many times to drain a coolant sir?

    • @PorchGarage
      @PorchGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Liza. If you are not using Coolant Flush, you can just drain out the existing coolant once, run some clean water through, and then add your new coolant.
      If you are using Coolant Flush, you have to keep flushing till the flush comes out clean. This will get rid of all the rust / grime from your cooling system. I did this with my old BMW here - th-cam.com/video/u5tLYP8Ux0s/w-d-xo.html

    sir..u only use 1 liter coolant..enough?

    • @PorchGarage
      @PorchGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used about 2.5 liters.
      But the owner's manual says it takes 6.8l (manual transmission version takes 6l). Maybe there was a lot of coolant which did not drain out as i only jacked up the front of the car 🤷‍♂️

    We just bought our Avanza 2 months ago. Do i need to drain it all or I can just refill it?

    • @PorchGarage
      @PorchGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are not sure what's currently in the car / how long it has been there, it would be safest to drain it first.
