    Am looking to turbo charge my 2.9 instead of full super charge, cuz it seems there's not a lot of support for these engines in the performance category that I can see except for the old Janspeed and Turbo Technic stuff used 40 or 50 years ago

      Ya you're not going to find super or turbo kits that I know of. You'll have to engineer your own stuff like I did. Two good sources of after market parts I do know of is Tom Morana racing and Burton Power. Burton Power is out of the UK. The Brits love the 2.9. They've done some amazing things with these little engines. Tom Morana engineers his own stuff and he's real proud of it as the cost will attest to. For the right price Tom would probably build you a kit to fit your power goals.

    What parts did you use to make the upper intake manifold besides the aussie speed adapter plate? Do you have specs on that? And do you have specs for the adapter plate ( for the countersunk bolt holes for alignment)? I'm trying to do this to my 2.9l I just picked up a m90 out of a wrecked grand prix.

      I love the square body Rangers 84-92. I also love the 2.9. Lots of untapped potential.

      @@claudiohernadez1928 Start simple and get rid of the stock mechanical fan and get an electric fan. Make sure to do it up right. Fan relay, proper guage wire, fuse. That should free up some power.

    I have a stock 1990 ford ranger 2.9l i want to do the mass air flow how can i get started?

    • @super2.930
      @super2.930  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The easiest way is to find a California Emissions 2.9 Ranger/Bronco II. It will have everything you need to convert. ECU, Mass air flow meter and meter connector. You'll have to run the wires and pin them into the ECU because your stock harness won't have them. That's where I started. If you can't find the full setup get a meter from a 93 or earlier 4.0. Go to the parts store or online and get the California Emissions ECU and the California Emissions Mass air flow sensor. Remove the 4.0 sensor from the housing and put the 2.9 sensor in. Plug in your newly installed connector and it should fire right up. You may be able to use the 4.0 sensor but it's not calibrated for the stock injectors in a 2.9. Feel free to pick my brain. I've done a lot of tinkering with different combinations.

      Of course if you're not making modifications to the engine there's no need for this. The stock speed/density works just fine.
