    Would be interested to see a follow up video on any issues that arose later with the taobao bought items in the future e.g after 1-2 years of use. Thanks for the informative video!

    Great video! I like the idea of the last part on the switch that switch off everything by the bed side. Would you be able to share about the smart light program when you start the renovation and how did you program it?

      Hey Faith! Thanks for the encouraging words! Yes that kill switch has been so helpful when we’re lazing in bed. :) For our smart switch brand, we are using Aqara. We’ll be sharing in our upcoming video on Smart Home features we’ve done for our house. Configuration is done on their platform! Hope our upcoming video will help give you some ideas and understanding! :) www.aqara.com/en/product/controller/

    impressive to keep the costs low! Mind sharing where u got the smart curtains and how much it cost plus installation?

      @lailetsgoh  ปีที่แล้ว

      Here's the link for the smart curtain tracks!
      m.tb.cn/h.5TkVNOY?tk=AdIiW09FACQ
      For the installation, I just got a contractor from Carousell to help - it was about $420 for all the curtain tracks and blinds in the house.

    • @MTPT-s7d
      @MTPT-s7d ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lailetsgoh what about the blinds, were they also from taobao? Just curious why u didn't opt for smart blinds as well, were there other considerations?

    • @lailetsgoh
      @lailetsgoh  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MTPT-s7d Yes they were from Taobao too! As to why we didn't go with smart blinds.. with the layout that we intended for the common rooms, we didn't see a lot of value in making the blinds smart - it comes down to how often we would actually use the features, and we don't see ourselves using it too much.

    Hi! Did you guys do any polishing/re grouting on the existing kitchen and toilet wall tiles? Because the tiles look as good as new 😊
    As I'm also planning to retain my kitchen wall tiles, so need some advise

    • @lailetsgoh
      @lailetsgoh  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello! We didn't do any of those, as the previous homeowners really maintained their tiles and grouts really well!
      If your existing tiles and grouts seem worn, it's definitely an option to polish and regrout, and it'd also be good to find out what kind of results to expect to manage expectations.

    Nice video and impressive to do all with the amounnt you spent. May i know what is the model of your mesh system?

    • @lailetsgoh
      @lailetsgoh  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you! Yes, we're using a TP Link Deco M5 system - it's pretty dated by today's standards, but still gets the job done!
      Most models today would be Wifi 6/6e/7 enabled - do look into them for more future-proof solutions!

    Thanks for sharing. I have stacked washer and dryer and also keen on getting the laundry rack. May I know if your rack is able to extend down enough to hang the clothes or it only drops until the top of the dryer?

    • @lailetsgoh
      @lailetsgoh  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh it's able to extend all the way down till roughly about chest height👍🏼 We made sure to find one that was small enough to fit - the poles are extendable so we can adjust it to fit the space nicely.

    How much u bought ur house? Just wan to have a slight feel of how over chop is the bto resale market..

    • @lailetsgoh
      @lailetsgoh  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there! Thanks a lot for the question! There are many things affecting the price of a resale flat, with the key factors being the number of years of remaining lease, location, as well as which floor it's on.
      Thought it might not be too meaningful to share the price without all these down as a context too😅 For a 4-room flat like ours, it can range anywhere from about $400K to even over 1 mil depending on the factors above!
      But if there's a project in mind, I would recommend to check out HDB's past transacted prices to get a more accurate picture of the resale prices!

      Sorry for the late reply on this! But yes you're right - you can think of the mixer handle as the main source, and touch feature as a "secondary switch". Both need to be on for the water to flow

    Hi, I notice you are using the rainshower kit from taobao, I intend to buy but the seller mention there is 2 water inlet (1 for cold and 1 for hot). I'm using instant water heater. is there anyway I can bypass?

    • @lailetsgoh
      @lailetsgoh  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there! Yes what you mentioned is correct - this design will be more suited for storage water heaters rather than instant water heaters.
      I think the only way to bypass is for only one inlet to be used, but I imagine the plumbing work for that would be quite extensive, and it would also make the temperature control on the mixer non-functional.
      We went with this design because we were looking to use a storage water heater from the start. If it makes things easier, it might be more worthwhile looking for a rainshower set that's made for instant water heaters!
      Sidenote: Traditionally, instant water heaters don't really give strong water pressure, but some of them do come with pumps - can consider looking for those too if you're intending to get a rainshower set!

    • @lailetsgoh
      @lailetsgoh  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi there, we're just using the default router from our service provider.
      For the mesh itself, we're using TP Link's Deco, and they've got a video tutorial on setting up here:
      th-cam.com/video/NX9QQ3smhAI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=I7ozc_RkRLQNj8E-
      The setup for other brands should work quite similarly, and they would all likely have setup tutorial videos available!
      For the LAN switch, we also just got a TP Link one - TLSG105. We didn't really have a lot of requirements, and it was an inexpensive option! Do take note of the connection speeds and number of ports when looking at the different options!

    Nice home, thanks for sharing!
    Don't mind a noob logistics question - I presume when the home was under renovation, you all were living elsewhere and thus not at the location to collect the delivery. How did you all manage the Taobao delivery address and handling to your ID/contractor?
    Did you all had the Taobao items delivered to your contractor and they brought over onsite to install, or was it delivered directly and left onsite by itself (since you're living elsewhere) for contractors to install?

    • @lailetsgoh
      @lailetsgoh  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha no worries there are no noob questions here!😂
      Yes you're right about the living arrangement - we basically handled the delivery ourselves, with the help of a 3PF (3rd Party Forwarder) company. With the 3PF, it's a lot easier to coordinate and schedule the deliveries - we discussed with the ID to find a good window to have the items arrive, and timed the shipment based on that window. When the items eventually arrived in SG, we received a call from the 3PF company informing us that the items would arrive the next day/next few days. We then made arrangements to take leave/WFH to receive the items and oversee the moving/check the item condition.
      We have a few videos talking about this if you're interested!

      Thanks for sharing! Yes it's true, carpentry is one of the items that racks up the reno bills..! We were fortunate to be able to retain quite a lot of the previous homeowner's works (flooring, kitchen tiles, kitchen carpentry, toilet tiles in dry area), and that helped with saving costs.
