I have purchased the M370 and while I’m excited I am also apprehensive…..That was before watching your video. It’s arriving next week and I’ve transitioned from apprehensive to “Let’s do this!” This video has removed the doubt and for that alone, I thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤
I was researching for my first embroidery machines and stumbled across this video. This is hands down the BEST tutorial and explanation ever done to a sewing machine! I can’t believe I just watched an hour long video and enjoyed every second of it. I think I’m gonna get a M380D after all, even it’s slightly out of my budget, but it sure seems worth it. Saved this channel for future use cause I sure will be revisiting frequently. Thank you for your amazing work!
Just bought the M380D and have been looking for tutorials to go with it. Now seen this one and it's amazing. Thank you for your great explanation on tbe machine features.
Thank you for such a great video! The brother website says this machine can also do overlocking. Does it mean picking a design that cover the edges and sew like any other stitch? Or is there a specific control for that? Thanks
@danrackstraw7844 We don't have a specific playlist but you can put in on our channel in the search area the word embroidery: www.youtube.com/@EchidnaClub/search?query=Embroidery Thank you for your wonderful feedback and watching our video!
Hi Gary, thx so much for this - such a clear and comprehensive video. I understand that the M370 only has a 10 x 10cm hoop…. Can I buy bigger hoops and fit them on to do bigger embroidery (eg embroidering names onto Xmas stockings - the font will need to be much larger)? If not, do I have to buy a different machine, or buy software to add to it? And can you do small letters too, as in not all capitals? Thanks a million, Nicky
@nickynonque5482 The embroidery field on this machine is 100mm x 100mm - It is not capable of doing any bigger unless it is a multipositional hoop - it is available to use with split designs created in software. The machine does 3 different initial Font sizes - Large, Medium, Small. If you are doing items with large font and lots of lettering, we would recommend to purchase a machine with a larger embroidery field size.
@user-gw7xx4pt4f This machine has a maximum embroidery field size of 4" x 4", there is a "multi positional hoop" available though which does a split design on the machine. Here is a link to an article explaining: www.echidnasewing.com.au/article/embroidery/a-quick-tip-guide-to-multi-positional-hooping/
@yatiem7139 It does not need software to operate. Software is an added extra when you want to resize, combine designs etc. It uses .PES files and to see these designs (as a picture) you will need a computer program to enable you to do this. There are options available and we would recommend talking to us over the phone to explain what will assist you.
@thembelamhlongo6886 The maximum embroidery field size on this machine is 100mm x 100mm (approx 4" x 4"). You can use a multipositional hoop and use split or two designs but again it will only embroider the 100mm x 100mm field size one at a time by moving the hoop, as the name suggests.
@andrewshaw1395 There is a button above the start/stop button that looks like a u-turn arrow. In sewing mode you press this and it stitches in reverse. If it is a decorative stitch, the machine locks off the stitch.
@TheAashiaana It has a small throat of about 6 inches, you would struggle with the size of a large quilt but it is still possible. The throat area would be taken up largely by the bulk of the quilt and you would need to allow for that. You can do quilt as you go quilts as a more manageable size. It is about how you approach your FMQ and what designs you are doing.
@TheAashiaana The NV1800Q is a great size or even the BQ3100, they each have a larger size throat and come with a lot of extras. There is even the option of doing quilting in the hoop using an embroidery machine as well if that is something that interests you.
Hi, fab video thank you. I have this machine I’m trying to register it but can find a number that I should use, looks like I can’t input letters into register page where do I find the correct number to use? X
Hi Gary, thx for your video. I appriciate it much. I stand shortly to buy my first sewing maschine. From the A16 to the A150 I have decided to look at the F420, because there you can adjust the pressure of the feet. I think the base of the 380D is the A Serie?! Have you experience with sewing light material? And when, how you think is the Performance and the quality of the sewline. Thx for your help. After looking I think i will buy the 380D.
@GiaPuccini Thank you for your feedback. If you are wanting to adjust the pressure of your foot on your garment you will need to purchase the F420 as the 380D and the A150 do not have this capability. Happy to help you decide which is the better machine to go for for you :)
Hi, can you please tell me with the Artspira app, can you import logos, that are in JPG or PNG format? If so, does the Artspira app convert it automatically when it is sent to the machine? I am really interested in the customisation feature of this machine and want to know if it will be able to use all my artwork created on my ipad, if it's as simple as uploading them on the Artspira app. Thank you.
Hi @treacherousmedia8046 - You are able to import a design in the background and trace the design but you are not able to convert a photo to an embroidery. It would be be better to purchase embroidery digitizing software to convert your designs such as Embrilliance Stitch Artist or Hatch Full version.
My wife has a pretty old model BM2600 sewing machine and I am thinking of getting her this for her birthday. She does lot of sewing and not embroidery (though I think it’s a feature she might like). I’m just curious to know on a sewing front whether this is a good upgrade, or is it just the same thing. Or do you think if she mainly does sewing for the same price she can get a much better sewing machine? Thanks!
@andrewshaw1395 Thank you for your enquiry - this machine will be an upgrade on her current machine and it is easy to use. She will love it and gives her room to be a bit more creative with her sewing by adding the embroidery feature. If she loves sewing she will love this machine.
Thanks so much for the quick reply! Just to double check, so even without considering the embroidery aspect of the machine, this is still an upgrade in terms of sewing features over her current machine? Just conscious if she doesn’t use the embroidery then at least the sewing function will still be nicer than her current one.
Please sir can u make a video on M280D I bought this 3 yrs ago and have not used the embroidery side of it and I am so frustrated as every time I try to do letter sentence it does not allow me, I wud b happy if u could show me how to and how to transfer design to the usb thanks 🙏🏼
@iluvindia01 Your machine has a limited embroidery field size so you may need to adjust your font size to fit what you need into the hoop. It does not have the ability to do multiple lines - it can only do one line at a time. Do one line, then select ADD and then you will be able to add another line of text. You will then put it in the pocket/memory to save.
When I found your video on NV180, it seems to have already been discontinued. However, this model in many ways feels like a successor! Very eager to get one :)
Sorry, another question - is the wifi connection with the M380D worth the 200€ difference in price for the M280D which doesn’t have it? Am very computer and phone app savvy, so that doesn’t worry me, I’m just wondering if because they both have USB, is the wifi option really really good? Thanks again, and sorry to bug you 🙏🤗😊
@nickynonque5482 If you prefer to send via WIFI then this will be a great investment, but if you are ok using USB's then you will also love the other machine. :)
@HoangKimxcb This is a beautiful home sewing machine with the added bonus of being able to do small embroideries! You can definitely use this to sew with at home.
Hi Gary! I am a new subscriber and I like how you explain about this machines. I am looking for an embroidery machine and sewing machine to start a small business at home. I want to know your ideas which one to buy? And is it good to buy the combo or buy separate embroidery only and sewing only? Thank you
@therayofsunshine Thank you for your query - What are you looking to create? How big of a production are you doing? It is a discussion sometimes that is great to have over the phone but we understand if this is not possible. Please keep in mind this machine does only have an embroidery field size of 100mm x 100mm (approx 4" x 4").
You demonstrate a machine better than anybody that I have watched

Thanks Gary for the demonstration video, it has made it clearer on how to use the machine as I don’t really like reading through manuals.
Glad you put this up. I have been looking at M380D since it came out to replace my sewing machine.

This machine is a sewing and embroidery machine. In sewing mode the machine has overlocking stitches that you can use to edge your fabric.
Such a great, informative video! Thank you!

How to embroider myself from laptop to machine ؟
@preboo_stitches Can you please restate your question?
can we use a bigger hoop for m370? instead of the small hoop that comes with it?

Hi! Did I have to purchase PE software for this machine?

How do you do back stitch on this machine?
@andrewshaw1395 There is a button above the start/stop button that looks like a u-turn arrow. In sewing mode you press this and it stitches in reverse. If it is a decorative stitch, the machine locks off the stitch.
@@EchidnaClub thanks so much for the quick reply!

I am new quilter and can I get FMQ done comfortably on a double or a large quilt without it bunching up in the throat ..what is the size of the throat
@TheAashiaana It has a small throat of about 6 inches, you would struggle with the size of a large quilt but it is still possible. Can you recommend a model that I can handle quilting comfortably without having to depend on a professional long arm quilter

It is the last lot of letters and numbers on the back of your machine - it will be 9 digits long.
Is this same as NV180 combination machine?
@rajjo007 Yes this is a similar model, the M370 and M380D are the replacement models with the new features such as WIFI connectivity.
Would you suggest buying just m370 or buying a150 and f540e for someone who wants to sew and embroider canvas bags?
You can use those machines most definitely. If you are doing it for business you may want an embroidery machine with a free arm such as the PR1X.
Thank you so much ❤
Sorry 1 more question- can it handle multiple layers of denim like the A150?
thanks very much for the video , i am a lot wiser now subscribed now thanks

@@EchidnaClub what is your experience with sewing thin elastic textiles with the M 380D?
@GiaPuccini As long as you use the right needle for the job you and use a foot suitable for the job, it should work fine.
