      You can talk to her to start at any time. Only 2 things prevent you from starting her quests. The first is your triggering the festival before talking to her. Then you need to finish radahn firstly. The second is you were told by Rogier to visit Ranni. Ranni would be suspicious on you if you had known too much on the first meeting. Then you need to go back to talk with rogier again to continue.

    Why would weapons forged by the Carian royal blacksmith be strong against Scarlet rot? Why would Jarren even know that?
    Did Iji Smith weapons for the Redmane knights as well? Or did the Carian family aid Radahn in the war of Aeonia? I suppose that would make sense since Radahn is son to Rannala

    • @jadenkarpoff9158
      @jadenkarpoff9158 2 ปีที่แล้ว +33

      I’m pretty sure it’s explicit that Iji forged the weapons for Radahn’s army that they used in the Battle of Aeonia. The question is whether he did that simply out of duty to a member of the royal family or if the Carians were directly in support of Radahn’s actions. If the latter is the case, why did he hold the stars in place and prevent Ranni from realizing her destiny? As to how Iji managed to make weapons resistant to rot, maybe he knew about unalloyed gold? But him knowing about that is a whole other can of worms.

    • @stratosmactra4405
      @stratosmactra4405 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@jadenkarpoff9158 I wouldn't think Radahn and the house of Caria would be on good terms, since he halted the stars before the shattering, and he is certainly aligned more with his father and the Golden Order. I think that's probably why he waged war against Melania too, since her and Miquella abandoned the Golden Order and forsook their father. That would also put Caria and Miquella on the same side, which could possibly explain how Iji learned of unalloyed gold, though I'm not too sure on that one.
      Also perhaps Iji simply forged the weapons long before the shattering and the halting of the stars. There was a fairly long period of peace where such weapons could have been amassed and not used.

      @zenkichihitoyoshi9513 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Weapons Iji can smith are said to be some of the finest ever made, like the Frozen Needle in the ruins near him. It's no surprise he can smith something that can be imbued with scarlet rot resistance, as he is the one who forged the weapons used against Malenia and her Cleanrot Knights.
      Jarren knows that because he's an eccentric prone to errands and he stayed for a while at the Academy of Caria and he also swore allegiance to Radahn, meaning he knew Iji and Ranni and of course, the role of Radahn in being the Starscourge who halts the stars. He is the one who keeps going with the festivals to honor him too, to keep hold on the promise he made when they both were alive and well.
      The carians DID NOT join the war. When it started, they shut themselves in the academy, Rennala locked away in the Grand Library and the gates blocked with spells.
      Sources: Frozen Needle descriptions, Eccentric armor set. Dialogues from Iji, Jerren and Thops about the academy. Other descriptions may include the sets of the academy students, their crowns (like Haima's crown that implies some students of the academy were sent out for nomadic studies while others like Olivinus and Karolus had an epitome inside the academy).

      @jadenkarpoff9158 2 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      @@zenkichihitoyoshi9513 I think you misunderstand the relationship between the Carians and the Academy. They are separate entities, but Rennala at one point was both head of the Carian royal family and the headmaster of the Academy. When Radagon left her, the scholars of the Academy lost faith in her and rebelled, locking her in the library and as far as I can tell Raya Lucaria is in a state of anarchy. They also sent their Cuckoo Knights to march on Caria Manor, but their forces were demolished in the traps surrounding it. Basically, the Academy didn’t participate in the shattering, but the royal family and its servants did.

He’s holding the stars in place preventing Ranni from achieving her destiny, and it seems like he idolizes his father Radagon and Godfrey more than his mother considering the golden lion iconography on his armor and his red plume. The main evidence in favor of him still being on their side is Jerren’s friendly attitude towards Ranni and the fact that he learned and uses magic like his siblings.

    • @mrduck_03art23
      @mrduck_03art23 2 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      Radahn is more keen with the golden order since he idolizes Radagon and Godfrey. Radahn holds the stars back to preserve the Carian family's fate but maybe also the Golden Order's fate from continuing. Ranni however doesn't like the golden order so I don't think they work together. Rykard also hates the Golden Order. It is more likely Rykard and Ranni worked together to achieve the same goal through killing Godwyn with the Black Knife plot. As for Iji, I think he simply does his job of serving the Carian family since he served Ranni.

      @@switchbox239 There are a few ways to trigger the festival. Probably the easiest way is to get both halves of the Dectus medallion and rest at a grace in the Altus Plateau. I believe resting at any grace in Altus Plateau will work for this so you could try going through the Ruin-Strewn Precipice or using the Raya Lucaria Academy iron virgin to get to trigger the festival.
      The other two methods involve going through Ranni's questline before reaching the Altus Plateau. After joining her service you can talk to the following NPC's in this order to trigger the festival:
      1) Blaidd (Siofra River) > Seluvis > Sellen > Blaidd
