When you get stiff pliers, just keep using them. They loosen up over time. My Signal, ST 300, and Wave all came stiff like that and after I used them for a couple weeks, they loosened right up
I've carried a Surge for over 10 years... for me there is no substitute or alternative. I added an aftermarket pocket clip which completely solves the weight/pocket carry issues I had.
@@The_commonmanyou should, with my wave and charge tti, there is no blade play. Send them an additional note telling them in detail, your issues and to double check the tool before sending you one- just in case.
Grab your Wave and grab a board with it. Twist it to the left and to the right a couple of times as if you were trying to bend the board. This loosened up the action on my Wave perfectly. I picked up the Surge recently and it seemed big but now my Wave feels small. I also am a big man with big hands and sheath carry with no big noticeable difference from the wave though there is a difference. I have tool carried for years and found that if you have a real use for the tool you don't mind the weight. On the other hand, carrying stuff you don't use gets irritating quickly. I still can't get used to cell phone carry.
I have carried the surge for years now, importantly I always use a holster because I like to keep my pockets empty and it carries much better but the wave feels like a toy now and it seems like the standard size of a multitool should just be the surge.
Which would you recommend for edc pocket carry? Trying to decide between the surge and wave. Had the wave but I lost it so looking to replace it. A tad worried the surge might be a bit much if I have AirPods or other stuff in the pocket with it? I’m a farmer so will get some use. Would like to hear your thoughts since you have both.
If you’re looking to carry it regularly, I’d go with the wave plus. The surge does carry well in the pocket, however it’s a pocket hog. Depending on the pants, you may not have much room left in the pocket, or for your hand to dig out whatever else is in it. Also, as time goes on having to choose between having a file or a saw in the t shank adapter is getting a little annoying..
Where did you get the pocket clip for the surge? Is it better than the wave clip as far as how it rocks back and forth on the surge? Thanks in advance, great channel bro!
a.co/d/7jTh5kR Hopefully that link works. It’s the one I purchased. It’s MUCH more solid than the standard clip for the wave plus, may not be the same overall quality but it’s cheap and it works great! Thanks!
I have Leatherman Rev and wanted bigger model. First I was watching reviews here then I go in store to see. After I seen wave plus and charge plus I was bit disappointed, how small they are. They are not drastically bigger than rev, the pliers.. They are similar, little bigger than on rev. So since I have Rev I will buy Surge.

I assumed that would be the case. Thanks for confirming!
Great review! Thanks.

You might want to consider sending that Wave back to Leatherman to tighten up that blade play.
I’m considering it, I believe a small amount is normal but this does seem excessive

@@BlueGearReviews thanks for the suggestion, I’ll give that a shot!
Thanks for showing the trick on how to store the saw blade within the serrated blade slot
I wish I remember where I learned that.. not my original idea. Thanks for watching!

I agree, the wave plus now feels almost too small after carrying and using the surge. Thanks for watching!
Very good and thorough review thanks!

Mod the wave with the scissors and T shank adapter from the Surge?..... happy days.
Not a bad suggestion!
@@The_commonman it isn't, but I'd have to buy a black surge to see if possible. Erk!

The leatherman belt clips are absolute garbage. They break within a month. Thanks for the heads up about a different clip.
