  • It's a Toronto institution. Grossman's Tavern on Spadina started out as a deli in the early 1940s, but quickly evolved into the city's home of the blues.
While countless other music venues around the city have disappeared or changed with the times, time has stood still at Grossman's. It continues to offer live music 7 days a week with no cover, even handing out a scholarship each year to a local musician or group.
    Here's to 75 more years!
Aired September 29th, 2018 on CBC's Our Toronto

That was my regular place to be in 1970 and 71. Donny would let me get up and play his guitar quite often and he would play harmonica. I have wonderful memories of Grossman's.

I was a fine art student at OCA. I loved standing within a few feet and watch the Down Childs Blue Band. I considered them artists as myself.

Not Al and Goldie ? I remember Goldie, Ester and Sarah, Al and Uncle Harry, from Buffalo ? I never heard of Louis and Rachel Grossman. I'm surprised, and confused ! lol Oh well, so glad it's still the same. The new owners are perfect for Grossman's !

Meanwhile, this guy interviewed and the many like him are the ones always saying these old traditions need to be torn down and cancelled. I used to go here FREQUENTYLY back in the day and I never saw him there and we had loads of fun and joy. Wheres this guy now.
