Great info, thanks! I am a Difalco guy myself, DD502 is my go to controller but I like the OS3 as well.

I have only had a brief try of a Difalco controller, I'm not sure on the model number, but it was a 2 wire no brake model. My first impressions weren't favourable, but I wouldn't want my limited experience to be a determining factor. I was looking at the DD531 as possibly the controller of choice for HO. I'm waiting for Show Us Ya Slotz to get one in for me. Then I'll give one a proper test and form a proper opinion.

@@murdervalleyraceway Well you are jumping right to the top with the DD531. I prefer the trigger action on my Difalco. I look forward to hearing what you think of the DD531.

💯 agreed on the adjustable controllers!!!! We use 4mm banana plugs mostly in Europe.

The advice itry to give it quite broad. Obviously there's many factors when selecting controllers. Generally budget is a major factor. From experience what I've found is, it's better to hold off and save for what you ultimately want rather than buying an a what you can afford right now type of controller.

I recommend going to a race that has some of these controllers in use. Ask about the different brands and features. Most racers will offer to let you try there controller. If you treat it right and the racer right you will probably be able to use it again. Try as many different brands that you can. Sometimes used controllers are availabe at a great price. Currently i own 2 Ruddic, 1 Defalco and a 0S3 Pro Elite wiperless. For me the 0S3 is my current favorite. Make sure you hook them up right the first time. It can be trouble some when hooked up wrong. I think the three pin audio plug should be universal. Enjoy!

@@kenneely7899 all good advice. I've been racing HO since early 2017. These are the controllers I loan to those who are trying out racing. I own 11 OS3 Allpro controllers, and I've recently bought 6 x Truspeed BPII controllers for the same purpose. I've decided that loaning the OS3 controllers is sending the wrong message. Why buy when you're already being loaned the best there is?

It's strange how we all use different connections 😂 great video, if I ever build a permanent HO layout I will run proper controllers.

wiring brake is a must have if you run xtraction, tjet, or other magnetless cars

    • @murdervalleyraceway

Agreed that the magnet traction cars do have more natural brake due to the drag the magnet creates.
I think the one thing I've really learnt lately after starting to drive a smaller layout, is that compact tracks drive completely differently to larger layouts. The need for braking just isn't there if the track you drive doesn't have long straights, because there's not enough time to accelerate and brake over a shorter distance. On shorter layouts the hover trigger seems to be the standard driving style required.

    Great video David.
Can you do one explaining and showing the results of using the adjustable controls on the allpro please?

    • @murdervalleyraceway

I'll see what I can do to demonstrate the benefits of an adjustable controller. It's very much a driving feel type of thing.
Thanks for the feedback. I really appreciate it.

Recently picked up an OS3 pro, really enjoying it so far. Love being able to adjust the sensitivity and brake. Haven't used anything other than Parma econos and turbos. Would like to try a Difalco, but I've spent enough money on toys lately. lol.

@@yunghanhuang8188 how do you mean? What sort of an adaptor are you after?
I would advise (if you want to use AFX plugs) just cut the plug off the AFX controller, and hook the wires up. However, if this is what you want to do, you will never be able to use the braking function. The AFX plugs will only ever allow you to use 2 wires.
