    Most often on TH-cam creators and social media and even print media mock scientists and chemists like they are the lowest professions. MAD RESPECT to all chemists out there. Chemistry is a difficult study, which requires discipline, hence it’s a disciplined science. It’s not for those who don’t want to take things seriously and just play around in the lab hoping to become chemists because it sounds cool. I’m glad there are undergrads here who speak well for the science. Please spare the science of jokesters, fraudsters and unethical people. We also learn ethics and take oath when we pass the licensure. We become leaders in the field so thank you for sharing your journey and for giving this science much respect and attention it deserves.

      @@daryl-annalexis8003 Hi! Well, I didn't change since I would have to start over, and I'm already 3 years in... What made me want to change, personally, is the fact that I am much more interested in chemistry than the medical and (especially) the patient care side of pharmacy. I hadn't researched enough the profession when I was choosing my major, because of horrible anxiety, and I'm paying the price. Oh, and also, in my country, the pay isn't that great, especially considering all the effort, blood and sweat you put into this degree during your 5-year course, also, almost everyone with this degree ends up in reatil pharmacy or as (I can't remember the correct name of the position right now) the person that convinces doctors and such to buy and recommend a medication; I have always despised the idea of working either of those two jobs. Namely, I wanted to somehow go into research, but then my grades were less than great, so that idea went out the window, and, besides, I realized that that probably isn't for me anyways, since most research is testing effects of compounds on live cells, which they get from un-aliving rats. ...Though, there are colleauges of mine which love the profession and really want to help people. The profession isn't ugly, it's just that pharmacists are underappriciated and I never wanted the kind of resposnsibility that pharmacists have. Namely, what they have said to us in college is "Doctors can make mistakes, pharmacists can't." And, well, a huge reason why I didn't go into med school is because I didn't want to be responsible for someone else's life to such an extant, and because I wanted to have more free time from work and yet, turns out, that huge numbers of pharmacists have long and shitty working hours... Keep in mind, I am talking as a student from western balkan, in a non-eu country. Good luck! I hope you find contentment and satisfaction in pharmacy, or whatever else you choose! :)

    • @friedlemon5172
      @friedlemon5172 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@daryl-annalexis8003 also, to conclude, I guess. If your main motivation is helping people, then go for it, because this is a medical profession. If you're intereseted in the science side, I'd say, rather go for a pharmacology or chemistry, biochemistry, etc degree. Then again, I heard some pharmacy curiculums are more focused on the scientific side of things, but I can't say for sure. I am all speaking from my point of view, of course... Good luck once again, and if you have any other questions that you think I could help with, feel free to ask, I'd be happy to lend a helping hand.

      Although a lot of what you learn in physics is important it’s applied in totally different ways in chemistry and many branches of chemistry don’t use it very much. Serial dilutions, just for basic topic for you to learn. How you will apply serial solutions in your computation of concentrations and do reverse calculations when you are given the number of colonies for example in bacterial transformation and you have to determine the concentration without given the dilution factor just design the experiment. That’s chemistry. Hardcore chemistry looks basic but many people flunk that area who study biotechnology and drug development. Most chemists from other countries don’t grasp this concept well.

    • @tillyfreeman5192
      @tillyfreeman5192 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Real -life application: Critical thinking is when you design an experiment. How would you aliquot a reagent used in formulation if your experiment requires a certain yield and your experiment did not produce the correct % yield? How would you aliquot a reagent in your formulation that is measured in mg/ml concentration? Express in ppm in instrumentation.
