Hi! My name is Zahl. This channel is about chemistry and what it's like to be a chemistry major in college. I talk about STEM and any cool chemistry topics and I go into helpful things I have learned as a chemistry major!
Deadly Chemistry Experiments
Today I discuss some very famous cases of deadly chemistry experiments. Some of these are from lab safety mishaps and issues with procedures and some involve dangers that weren't even known to exist at the time they happened. Throughout the chemistry major and many science careers there is hundreds of hours spent int he lab and this video serves as a reminder that science work can be dangerous if proper precautions are not taken. Stay safe out there and I hope you like it!

Start Of Semester Tips For Chemistry Majors (Fall 2021)
Thx bro
I just wanted to say thanks for your suggestions for OCHEM 1 I got one of the books you suggested and I got 98% in OCHEM 1. I got the second semester book too and expect a similar result. Seriously organic chem as a second language was a cheat sheet for the course. Thanks so much for that.
Almost done with my masters degree, but surely the worst decision of my life.
I regret taking chemistry as my degree.
As an aerospace engineer, I really enjoyed this book. Beside giving you good historical information of the industry for that time the book is funny... and I mean really funny. Near PG Woodhouse type funny. I had heard the book was good but did not expect to find the book so enjoyable and entertaining. The authors writes extremely well- a natural storyteller.
Pretty solid advice
Whats The Sources you use
Despises math person: Then finds out there is an existence of Analytical Chemistry and Physical Chemistry at a university level. Be careful for what you wish for. I will encourage people to love maths even if you are struggling with it.
I don’t have questions because I don’t KNOW what you just said 😂😂😂😂
i am a high school student whether i can understand the books
I’m so glad my chem teacher is the exact opposite
that was really helpful, thx so much
It’s the 💰, the heyday of industrial chemistry (for companies) happened up to the mid 20th century as far as I understand
thank you for this, ive been kinda in this dilemna with what branch of chemistry i want to major in and because of this vid i think ill be majoring in physical
💩
Salam do you have a discord
Hmmm i want to learn mostly for the knowledge, but i was thinking chemistry could be an employable skill in industry as well, but if my fate is to not make a lot of money, then i will learn as much as i can and forget about employable skills
I wanna be an inorganic chemistry, i don't see how organic chemistry is "real chemistry", it's only one subset of chemistry and isn't really what i think is cool about chemistry, like if you like it that's great, but i wouldn't call it the "real chemistry" Physical chemistry sounds cooler
Ive been wondering what to do while taking chem 2, and now i know i should take calculus 1 and physics 1! Thank you!
I have done BS chemistry can I move towards chemical engineering in masters?
Thank you for this video
Hello, thanks for your warnings. I am pursuing a BS Chemistry hoping to continue into a Masters then phD. I am not pursuing it for a job, I just love Chemistry and working in the lab. Can’t wait till I start Organic Chemistry this Fall.
no poubelle robert wills lovin this vid dude
How ti get hired?
Can you do like a disilocarboxylic + a disiloamine? (I'm just learning O-Chem)
Chemical Engineering has way more in common with Mechanical Engineering vs chemistry
Money? I think that’s the reason…biology-->drug discovery/invent some new tech for diagnosing diseases/pharmacies/biotech. Physics-->engineering, all famous scientists in pop culture…. So I just think from outside looking in those too are perceived to having better prospects for wealth/opportunity/fame
What do you think of Chemistry: The Central Science 15th edition is that a good book to buy?
Biochemistry will be a nightmare for me. Biology itself is my most hated branch of science. More nosebleeding than English
Can I go to the Field of Nanotechnology after my Bacelor's Degree in Chemistry?
Do chemEs have positions alongside chemists in research & development/labs?
i like chemistry because of bully.
the video game on PlayStation 2 from rock star games?
When I taught general chemistry 1 lab, it wasn't a high school class. My students did chemistry after lab 3. High school was 3 hours away and they thought it was chill that I didn't require them to sign a sheet of paper to leave the class.
Most people think chemistry is organic chemistry, okay that's probably true. The only thing I learned in biochemistry is how to spell my name with amino acids. The mechanical engineering cop at K state and I were talking in the art history museum about how reading ingredients labels at the store was the only part of my high school chemistry education we're able to talk about directly.
When I was in chemistry graduate school, there was a 35 year old who wanted to specialize in a 22 year old.
this video made me feel very frustrated lol. I know the feeling
with a small understanding of chemistry and watching chemists on podcasts, I thought it was an interesting subject. After taking principles of chemistry 1 it just makes it annoying. Learning all the conversions just seems dumb in this age , we can just use technology, teach us the fun stuff!

Stat Mech - F tier
I'm a software design undergrad and am looking to create a game that will hopefully include accurate chemical reactions for creating in-game items. I want to understand chemistry more before I even attempt the full plunge, but a hypothetical: if a game/simulation is designed to procedurally transform objects based upon the laws of chemistry (I didn't want to list everything), would the hypothetical environment's rendering have any use as a possible teaching aid? An Example possible experiment being a copper sulfate solution with a copper and zinc bar for anode/cathode, with explorable animations showing electron transfer and the formation of "debris" on the bars in the solution, along with easy to understand details.
You did my dog "I'm me, who you" wrong when you pronounced his name.
My college requires Calc 1, 2, 3, and Differential Equations for a Chem degree. I never realized how basically every other school would have me take a full year of math less lol
