I might have to say that looks like one of the gnarliest ski ascents/ descents I have seen. Took some true grit. Hard men for sure.

I've dragged a full trad rack up that track before, to do routes on Bechervaise face, but watching you doing it in snow with skis, made me feel like we had it easy!
    Awesome effort!

Wow. like hundreds of other people I've done the full traverse of the Eastern Arthur Range in summer, I felt I'd achieved a lot but I knew that was as much as my body could ever manage. But to do Feder in winter with skis is just amazing. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us.

Wait, what!!? (11:05) Yep, climbed Federation Peak in 2008. We took the easy route and thought it was dangerous (it was). This is dangerous x 100. Respect.

Winter might offer the best chance of enough snow but when I climbed Fed Pk in January 92 it snowed for a night and the next day at not much above sea level.

Great effort guys. I would like to add that I had a similar decision to make many years ago when attempting a 3000 meter in the Austrian Alps. It was a day climb with a lady friend. Both of us were reasonably experienced in those days. We were late teenagers. We had arrived at the last 30 meters and the only way up to the peak was on the sunless side vertical stone and ice. We had good boots but no ropes and no ice picks. Did not need that for the rest of the climb. We stood there with absolute wonder and serious trepidation. My friend said we should give it a go. I said wait a moment. I checked it closer and saw that the entire holds were totally iced up hard. The drop on that side of the mountain was 3000 feet at 80 degrees straight down with no ledges or forest or anything. Death absolute if you went for a spill. The reason why I am making this statement is to remind all enthusiasts that although we both felt defeated by the decisions we also both had a great lunch, played with the birds and then descended to live our lives. Sometimes it needs to be done. You did the same and and I applaud that.
