Most importantly, you've received a great medical care despite the language barrier.

    Hi mate ,
I had a Inguial hernia and was in a lot of pain at the start of December . Was worried as hell as had a flight booked to Bangkok and was looking forward to a week in Jomtien beach and 3 weeks in Samui .
Went private at St John’s & Elizebeth hospital my surgery was on 16 December .Hospital was 5 star could not fault a thing , but admitted at 12pm and after open hernia repairs was released same day about 10pm. Total cost £3,300 made my flight on the 1st of January after 2 weeks from surgery .
Had a great time but took it easy with the ladies 😅.
I did see you on the ring road in Lamai , as I went passed on my scooter . I’m home now in London 5 miles from Heathrow and back at work after 7 weeks after surgery feels a bit weird in the groin but no more pain .
I’m glad I spent the money and had my yearly trip to Thailand . I went to the Samui clinic in Bangrak they cleaned and dressed my stitches for 2 visits 700 baht .

@@thethairishsun Great to hear that you can get back training within a week or two
the open surgery was the one my surgeon Dr Hashimi prefers , but when he did the op he said my hernia was knotted that’s why I was in so much pain . I’m into my running so I’ve got a 4-6 month wait before I can get back to any kind of marathon or race training 😞.
Take care wish you all the best with your recovery mate 🙏

Hi Buddy. Glad to see that you are recovering fast after the worrisome surgery, hope the insurance company compromises and does the honourable thing. How about getting together with a local nurse? The world-over, nurses are generally lovely respected people of substance who deal with difficult things on the frontline -they also possess a rather appealing dark sense of humour to get them through some heavy days. All the best, how's the job going?

    • @thethairishsun
      @thethairishsun  ปีที่แล้ว

Hey, cheers! Yeah I'd love to but other than when you are in hospital where do you meet them? 😊 None of them slipped me their numbers unfortunately 🤣

That seems really expensive, I had an inguinal hernia repaired for less in Fort Myers Florida.

Sorry i haven't watched the entire thing yet. But sorry to hear the insurance won't cover your surgery.
My father had that too several years ago. Operation went pretty well even for his age.
Public hospitals here in PH, at least the one i've been to once, aren't that nice either.
The passed out joke and the bit about pre-surgery modesty was funny. 😂 Will try to watch (or at least listen to) the other half maybe later.

Thank you!! Yeah this is one I think you can just listen too as it's not super visual, more of a story 🙂 and I'm glad you found some bits funny ☺️

@@thethairishsun Didn't realize the 2nd half of this vlog was going to be so riveting and evoke so many emotions - from being in suspense about how the surgery was going to end up to making me literally LOL with the catheter bit. 😂 But glad all went well. Except for the bill 😆. I think here, it would be less than 3K in a private hospital. Anyway, hope you get to sort out the issue with the insurance. :)
      Your mum so sweet btw.

I've had general anaesthetic once and it was a weird experience. Operation wasn't a serious one but I was shitting it for the anaesthetic. It was fine in the end, just really weird coming out of it. Absolutely out of it not having a clue where I was or who I was even. Those nurses and doctors must hear the most random and funny stuff from patients in that state.

    Hope you're still OK?
We are heading to Samui 9th March for 19 nights. Hope I never have to use hospital whilst abroad.
Only had an operation once was a strange feeling counting down can't remember a thing.
