    You've just reminded me of some Bloodletters i painted way back .... like 5 years ago.
    The theory behind those was that they were deamons born out of lava, thus the lighting on them was totally reversed.
    All the strong recesses were bright yellow with the skin turning to orange and brownish reds all the way to the thicker parts of the skin being pitched black.
    With such a dark color scheme for the body, the flaming blade was a no brainer!

    Does look really good. Fire sword all the way! Miss the black on the horns though, and I like the bumps all over him with the lightened dry brush. The fire sword looked AMAZING with the airbrush and after the white on the tip. I think the white edge highlighting was too much.

      Haha I love that blue and silver on them. I would love to paint some! I bought the daemonhunters codex for that army a looooong time ago because I thought they were the best looking models in 40k (3rd edition?). That was a few years after I quit painting so I never bought any models :(
      They are on my list to one day have a full army of. Someday :)

    I don't play Warhammer at all really besides a videogame or two or some forum games.
    I like to write lore about stuff a lot, try to make my own planets and systems.
    But your videos are well awesome and works of art and make me want to take up model painting even just as a side thing alongside my worldbuilding so my dudes can be visualized.

    • @eBayMiniatureRescues
      @eBayMiniatureRescues  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Even having some basic paint jobs on minis for board games gets me way more into what’s going on. It deepens the lore and helps create mini stories for each model. There are a lot of painters out there that do one off models and then write lore around that model so even for your own lore I would have to imagine that painting a mini or two would make it all feel more grounded with a sense of reality about it, just because you would have some kind of physical representation for your stories :) couldn’t hurt to give it a try. There are tons and tons of minis out there that would fit whatever lore you throw at it!

    • @AbstractTraitorHero
      @AbstractTraitorHero 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@eBayMiniatureRescues yeah I imagine, I remember wanting to make/paint a model especially in my mind for like this three eye'd tundra guard pale abhumans.
      That served as the defense force for the hiveworld I set them on. Place was a hellhole with the hives underneath sheets of ice underwater with only some of their spires jutting out.
      It was uninhabitable topside during the winter, the bottom two hives were basically falling apart and slowly buckling under water pressure. Their were essentially arachnid like insectoid tundra rats that would swarm the spires in the summer attempting to consume them and their was a fish species that glowed and provided heating for much of the hives, via having them congregate around the outside and aquariums being made for them attached to heating systems that warmed up noble homes.
      One hive had secretly fallen to a cult as well, bunch of rogue psykers led by a fallen psyker sister of battle. Haden't fallen to chaos per say, but their were hints they easily could.
      Lots of potential.
      Nice of you to reply man.

    • @eBayMiniatureRescues
      @eBayMiniatureRescues  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Even just reading that much I could see a few different models in my head, definitely potential to build some really cool stuff!

  • @chaosincarna
    @chaosincarna 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Something other than more fiery colors works best when playing around with Bloodletters. I personally like their skin tones to be between red, reddish orange to black. Basically a mixed bag. The swords are magical Khorne weapons and Khorne loves him some brass. Brass and a grayscale, (leaning far more towards black) looks really great together on the blades. Like blades made of pure dag nasty evil. Your color schemes makes me think of the old school style, from the 90s, especially the blades. I use to play Vampire Counts and to show they had magical weapons I'd paint them in glowing color styles similar to that. I think people go too much for realism now and not enough for funzy when painting their stuff.

    • @eBayMiniatureRescues
      @eBayMiniatureRescues  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s true, a lot of people want to see that realism, how light reacts really, how things would look in real life. I do like a lot of the super detailed reality pieces out there, but you can’t beat “ I painted it X color because it was fun”
      I am still working on these bloodletters, taking in a lot of feedback from people like yourself, and I appreciate it very much :)
      On a bit of a side note, it’s awesome to see that so many people like their bloodletters just a little bit different from everyone else, so much good variety with these particular models. I’m finding it hard to come to a final conclusion lol

      You can get it on amazon or eBay. Just type in greenstuff or more specifically Kneadatite. It comes in strips of yellow and blue.
      Yeah the old cement could really mess up a model. I find a lot of that buying used models on eBay. There are good cement options these days that are super thin and have nice brush applicators. It makes it pretty easy to get that plastic bonded together without any overspill :)

      I don’t have a problem stopping after a good wash, as long as you get the result you are after. In this case I went pretty bright on the orange and yellow so that when the wash was put on it still looks highlighted, no need to do anything else :)

    I was feeling that musik, love me some metal(I personally didn't have any problems with the volume, noticed a few people mentioned it though) Love your videos, your use of the air brush is amazing. It would be cool if you could do a techniques video if you haven't already you talk about stuff like Zennith highlights and a few other techniques but I guess it would be awesome to have a video on like how you do your color selections, what certain techniques(such as Dry brushing, Highlighting, Edge Highlighting, Accenting, Zennith Highlights etc... are) and when you would want to use them... for us amateurs :D Keep up the amazing work! I know that you do explain as you go in the videos, I guess I'm just curious how you know which techniques to use, the order they should be in and why to use them!

      Scott doesn’t go too in depth or anything, but he gives good definitions for a lot of the techniques you see across TH-cam :)

      Thanks! I get them from an art supply store called Micheal’s. But you can just as easily get them from amazon. Here’s a link:
      Daler-Rowney FW Acrylic Artists Ink, 1 oz, Rowney Blue (160029119) www.amazon.com/dp/B00522XJHW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_jVR.CbFEAW24C
      They are a little more expensive online, a lot of art stores have sales and coupons that make them less expensive. That being said, the bottles have a lot of ink in them and you never go through that much of it painting miniatures :)

    Great video as always. Why did you choose to use both green stuff and milliput instead of just using one or the other?

    • @eBayMiniatureRescues
      @eBayMiniatureRescues  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks!
      Milliput is water soluble, so you throw a little bit on the gap and with a little water it will almost melt into it and you’re done, great for small gaps and quick drying, 4 hours compared to 24. For the larger gap on the head I used greenstuff because I could fill the gap quicker and it feels easier to mold around things, I needed to go almost all the way around the head and sculpt a little bit with it to make it look more natural. Not that I couldn’t have done that with the milliput, but it doesn’t seem to work as well for those kinds of applications. At least in my experience.
      Hope that answers your question :)

    • @briangilgan
