I heard one of these first-gen crossplanes with the Toce system coming through downtown Denver, and legitimately thought there was a VERY aggressive V8 doing a fly-by! I was very surprised to see a motorcycle ride past making that sound lol These videos just dont do justice to the sound these things make!

I have a first gen R1, only has 14,000km on it, (8600 miles) and its absolutely MINT. But the time has come to let it go, an injury to my back means riding it for longer that 15 minutes is too painful, I'll replace it with an MT-10SP i think.
The toce exhaust at 5:37 is from a yamaha r1 pre 2009. Those bikes are flat inline 4 cylinder. The r1 from 2009 and up are crossplane 4 cylinder which changes up the firing order thus creating a totally different and unique sound.
I had the voodoo exhaust on mine. I had to push my bike to the park near my house to start it. I still got noise complaints. I do recommend it. With a helmet on its orgasmic riding.
In my opinion, Toce is the best system for Crossplanes and the second best is not even in this video. Its Austin Racing GP1R. Both of these exhausts give an orgasmic feel to the ear 🔥

Graves stood out to me. I love arrow myself but the only arrow clip totally sucked. He did the exact same rev over and over again. Didn't get to hear it idle at all. I sure don't think bouncing off the rev limiter in neutral is a very good thing to do
I feel like the cross-plane only sounds cool at high RPMs; it sounds like an angry 2 stroke motocross bike. But at low RPMs it has that choppy ninja 250 sound. I like the normal inline 4 sound because you know it's a sport bike.
JDM World this may be a stupid question, but I like the toce exhaust location but don't like the sound, I like the triumph Daytona instead of the R1 but could you still mount an exhaust in that location for any or most bikes? (Like the triumph Daytona 675r?)
I'm with you. to me they both keep cloest to the signature sound of the r1 but at the same time giving more of a deeper yet aggressive sound at the same time. the rest just felt like drifted too far away from the signature r1 sound.
