One of many things I love about your channel is you don't keep repeating things-you tell your story or stories as if you're having a live conversation and then move on to the next topic. And it looks like you already had that skill 8 years ago (-; I'm not being critical of other channels but your way of doing it is more relaxing for me.

I often wonder if I should introduce myself or share my back story more often as I see many people seem to almost share a highlight reel of their life to open a video and maybe that’s better for growing a audience but I just don’t think to do that when I’m editing 🤷🏻♀️

I drove from my remote camp 2hrs to a town for a shower today to discover that it's Sunday and the shower service is not available on Sundays. Instead I got a bar of cell service and a video from Amanda. Thanks for sharing. Smile your way through the day 😊

It is not necessary to film getting out of the mud. MThat was enough work for you without making that take longer and risk damaging your equipment that keeps us connected to you and Frank. Thank you for a relaxing video. I loved it!

Thanks for the peaceful video, HG is an incredible place, and I wouldn't even know about it except for you, so many thanks for that! We've had a lot of bear activity in the forests here in VT because it is "bear hounding season" , where some "hunters" chase after bears ( and terrorize all forest creatures) with packs of radio collared dogs. It's awful.... anyway- every time you mention bears a saying that my younger brother used to chant: "The Hairy Bear is Everywhere" goes through my head ! Hugs to you and Frank! 🐻

O ya..start in middle of your bangs cut, keep useing that as ur guide , I professionall cut hair 30 . Pretty marine life so many colors...just cut a inch off ur bangs...they grow usually half inch a month.

To cut bangs, hold them straight up between your forefinger and middle finger and cut at a very slight angle down toward the side of your eye. Do this onn both sides trying to start at the same length on both sides. It works great for me. If you find it slightly off, just carefully hold it in the middle and fix that area. Good luck 🤞😊. I've been cutting my own hair for yrs. There are many TH-cam videos too.

Amanda I think your way to hard on your self.You looked so good and sounded wonderful.
I've stopped watching certain channels that use drama click bait, so I appreciate you not doing so. It's refreshing coming across someone who has good intentions and are down to earth.
I think the best part of the old video clip was seeing Frank at his maximum rowdy play. You were very sweet and young and happy to share your joy in observing nature. It's true, you seem much more confident now and speak with both giddy joy and gravitas. I know you find it frustrating sometimes, that your channel doesn't do better. But if you consider how real and original you are and how you don't use clickbait, it's doing really well. 33K subscribers who look forward to the beauty of your videos and how you manage and enjoy nomadic life and just life in general, even the hard stuff.

Amanda I love looking back on those videos, we get to see frank in all his glory. This is the summer months viewership is down for all content creators, however the fact that we still show up to watch your videos speak volumes. The loss of authenticity in TH-cam is real. I have stopped watching so many other youtubers for their clickbait and made up drama, it is such a huge turnoff. Your videos are real, simple and beautiful. Slow and steady always wins the race even when it doesn't appear that you are. Being real is always better than being fake.
Hello from Colorado. I love your channel you are so brave and knowledgeable. I've learned a lot from you. I want to pass on a little tip for you, hopefully this will make sense. For your bangs; grab them and twist them around and around until is all twisted. Then snip just a little of the bottom of the hair. Let the bangs unwind and see if it's short enough if not do it again. The twisting helps give it a textured look rather then just straight across. Anyway just wanted to give you a tip since you have given me so many. And P.S. Love Frank 🥰
When you’re talking to “the camera”, you seem as if you are talking to “me” (your viewers). It feels personal, like I’m there with you 😊. I know my sister and I FaceTime as she is very far away from me so never get to see her in person, and it does feel like we have had an actual visit. That’s how you make it feel! You do a Good Job!

This is why your channel has become my favourite ❤ I just refuse to watch TH-camrs that create dramatic content for the sake of views, use clickbait thumbnails or titles. I love wandering through the forest with you and what a mighty gorgeous forest it was this episode ❤❤❤ especially as I’m in Australia and ont get there as I’d never leave my dog. I’m glad you realised the 2016 video wasn’t as cringe as you thought, it actually was totally fine content and I’m glad you found the courage to share. Watching you with Frank playing on the beach reminded me of me and my dog who is a cross breed with part cattle dog 🐕😜. Don’t change … well maybe give those bangs a trim haha.

Lovely update! Especially appreciate the contrasts of the 8-years-ago Amanda and Frank to the beings of today. In my own experiences, learning to appreciate who I was "ago" helps me appreciate where and who I am now. Hope you can appreciate that in yourself, too. "Curious Amanda," trying even though it's not comfortable, and changing past the discomfort. Hallmark of a lifelong learner - my favorite kinda peeps.
I don't see your videos as boring. I love your videos. I love the outdoors and I have been unable to get much further than the grocery store lately. I like watching your videos, even what you are cooking. I love Frank, he's an awesome dog. I got a kick out of watching him choose logs instead of sticks to chew on and have had some good loving laughs. Thank you for sharing.

I use to be a hair stylist so I hope you don't mind me giving you a few pointers on cutting your bangs.
PREP.-- AFTER STEP 3 (below) :-You'll need a few clips or bobby-pins so you'll be able to Clip back half of your bangs, (one layer down and one clipped back) as you'll be cutting it in two layers, and you'll be cutting one layer at a time.
FIRSTLY: - decide what length and shape you want them to be. ( if you wish, you may mark it out with an eye brow pencil or charred twig )
SECONDLY:- wet your bangs well and comb bottom layer downward.
THIRDLY :- place a mirror at chest level and aim it so you can see yourself (do not place the mirror higher than that because you'll raise your eye brows up as your looking at yourself and you'll cut your bangs too short ) .
FOURTHLY:- using your spare hand, press down on your wet bangs firmly against your forehead with the length of your index finger as you carefully prepare to cut the outline of your bangs.
FIFTH:- while pressing the hair down begin to cut a thin layer of hair JUST A LITTLE LOWER than your demarcation line ( remember your hair will bounce up a bit and become slightly shorter as it dries.)
SIXTH:- once the first layer is cut, release the second layer, wet and repeat step five EXCEPT you'll cut the second layer a smidgen longer than the first layer. (This will help the bang to curl under slightly making it look less blunt.)
Don't forget to wash the demarcation line off your face😅😊❤. I hope this is helpful to you.
The way I see it , don't sweat the small stuff, if it's not perfect, hair grows back and with practice you'll get better at it with each try. Just be patient with yourself, I thought you did fine the first time you cut it even though you were winging it at the time.

I am glad to hear there are bins/boxes/bags along the coast to put that garbage into! I’ve seen beaches literally covered in plastic debris off the coast near Sitka. Some beaches collect more than others.

I hate hate hate plastic, I understand that in our world we aren’t going to give up plastic but why not eliminate the plastic that is not necessary, I’m 61 and when I was young our milk came in glass containers that we returned when empty and purchased full glass bottles of milk, water came from a hose in our backyard, I simply don’t understand how a person is so lazy that they buy water in plastic, personally I think it tastes terrible, just like milk in plastic, yuk!
I loved seeing Frank so excitable and full of energy! And yeah, Young Amanda was maybe a bit awkward, but I've seen worse.

I really appreciate your refusal to use clickbait. I get so mad at the lies people will publish in their title or thumbnail just to alarm people and feed off that. I hate also that the TH-cam algorithm rewards that so much. I really do think there are a lot more of us out there that don't like this clickbait and aren't as Pavlovian about it all, but TH-cam's algorithm actually gives us the opposite of what we want sometimes.
I hadn't subscribed yet as I'd only recently run across your channel and was making up my mind, but I remembered now I wasn't subscribed so you can consider this the video that nabbed at least one sub!

I LOVED this video!! The beauty and sounds of the beach....oh man, that's where it's at! Oh, and the birds. 😅❤ One thing I want to thank you for is not wasting 2-5 minutes of you boiling water, grinding beans, and making pour over coffee for filler. There's only 1 other van lifer who's videos I watch occassionally. (She doesn't drink coffee, lol) As soon as that "making coffee" opening starts in a video, I click out. Now, I know you have some videos in the past with your Aeropress, but that was only once in a while. I have a question, Amanda. Do you ever get poison oak? All those beautiful, green trails you hike, I know I'd exit with poison oak, as I get it so easily. ✌️❤️🙋♀️
I don’t think I’ve ever seen poison oak, it’s not really a thing in the coast where I spend most of my time. I’ve come across poison ivy a couple times in the Kootenays but I have a keen eye for it so I’m not worried about. Thank you for the kind, observant comment 🙏🏼

Just got back from camping at Haida Gwai. Such and amazing place. The vibe is so wonder for recharging the soul. Folks are friendly and have time to talk. Tlell Farmers Market, lovely place to meet the locals. Misty Meadows beach. Great conversation with the local self contributing undertaker. Gotta love island folk. GB on Moresby, really restful place on the ocean. Overall, one of my favourite places on this planet. Think I saw you at MM. Had your Starlink out. Must have been editing.
