I would like to ask how do I zoom out of the emulator when I play with the Switch docked? It's like cutting most of the menu and games, it's like leaking from the screen, you know? The worst is that it becomes unplayable and you can't choose several menu options. Duckstation only works normally with my Switch playing in handheld mode. Could you tell me how I can fix this?
To exit DuckStation you either press the Start + Select buttons, Capture or the Home button. It's same in handheld mode and docked mode.
i have a problem with clock tower 2 and trag, they both get stuck on the publisher screen.. are those compatible or is there a setting that I need to change to bypass that.
also Breath of Fire 4, suffers the same, but on the opening animation, but rapidly tapping the start button will enable to to go to the menu. But is there also a way to enable the opening cinematic for Breath of fire 4?
My guess is you're playing on RetroArch? Could be compatibility issues so I bet they work on DuckStation.
Thanks, I was wondering for Ehrgeiz would Rearmed be better or Duckstation? I am looking to play Quest mode.
DuckStation on Android is better for most PSX games.
@@TritonusRaven Okay then. I was hoping to avoid using android. Would Ubuntu work better?
Is it possible to use Shaders with Retroarch switch? I really like the CRT effect.
All versions of RetroArch should have shaders, since the shaders are layered in the app regardless of what platform or core you're using.
Very glad to see games run better on it. I still want to play escape on my switch
Ape Escape should run just fine.
@@TritonusRaven yeah I tried it the other day after updating the PS1 core on Retroarch and it ran perfectly. Earlier in 2022 it was running very badly
Lol literally why I'm here, I got it on my vita but the keymaps I have to do annoy me and I find myself hunching over to pay attention to missable areas
How do you get a better upscale using Retroarch for PSX games? My games get pixelated, especially MGS
DuckStation upscales the games to 1080p with 2x multisample anti-aliasing.
how can install duck station? i have a modified switch with retroarch
All I want is to play The Adventures of Lomax. I dived into this realm now in the past 4 hours and I got so much confused I don't understand anything anymore. Let's say I get the rom of this game. Can I upload it into a modded switch and play? Or I need some chinese handheld? Or a hacked Vita? I dont understand what is the best option. I would love if you can throw some keywords here to help me navigate. Thanks!
The PSX port you can play on a modded Switch no problem. You can add RetroArch which allows you to play all kinds of retro games on the Switch.
@@TritonusRaven thank you very much for your answer sir. I need to decide if I go with first gen switch (because I saw you wrote in other video comment before that the newest switch need some $150 chip and very not easy work on it) or a dedicated handheld.
woah woah woah vagrant story? how does it run on the switch ? which app
It's on DuckStation which is the best way to play PS games on Switch.
@@TritonusRaven You should make a tutorial on how to install duckstation on switch I can’t find any in English
My Switch's serial number starts with XKW. Am I able to get a PS1 emulator running on my Switch?
There are websites you can check if your Switch is moddable. Mariko (2019, Lite, and OLED) Nintendo Switch models need a modchip.
Hai mr ps1 in retroarch the resolution cannot setting high resolution right?
You can increase the resolution in the RetroArch menu.
@@TritonusRaven what name setting master? I cant find 😢
How do I get better resolution for parasite eve on rearmed core?
You could increase the internal resolution for the core under settings.
Can you pin point/ bullet point how to find or get to internal resolution? I would really appreciate it. Thanks!
Does it run Brave Fencer Musashi?
I don't see why it shouldn't but I'll need to check it out!
Where did you get duckstation for Nintendo switch?
I got it from Google Play Store.
@@TritonusRavenI didn't get it. how? is your NS runs android?
Yeah the Switch needs Android installed in order to run DuckStation.
Is your Nintendo Switch getting too hot when playing with duckstation??
Not what I've noticed. I usually play in docked mode though.
@@TritonusRaven i use it in dock mode but with 3x upscale always.
Does lunar silver and eternal blue works & psp
It should work on DuckStation without problem. As for PSP games they run best on Ubuntu with the PPSSPP core.
any idea how well silent hill runs?
It runs without problem at least on DuckStation.
So does PSX on switch make use of any rumble?
Not what I noticed. Might be something with the settings.
@@TritonusRaven I felt some rumble when playing Ape Escape on retroarch
I have not so good performance on colin mcrae...what could it be?
You get better performance on DuckStation if you got Switchroot Android installed.
can you play legend of dragoon in switch lite? thank you
Don't have a Switch Lite but I'm sure it'd work with a hardmod.
Will persona 2 work?
I haven't tried it but I don't see why it shouldn't.
How you get this emulator on switch ?
If you got custom firmware you can grab RetroArch directly from their website.
There is also a duckstation version compatible directly on horizon : th-cam.com/video/Ho2l4rbVbv4/w-d-xo.html
Will need to test this.
Last time I used PS1 on switch, my games would occasionally just crash for no apparent reason. The performance was fine too.
Have you had this issue?
Mine would do this when I used exfat format or not running RetroArch with full RAM access.
@@TritonusRavenThanks for the info!
I actually just discovered yesterday that there is a new duckstation fork which is compatible with Atmosphere! No android necessary!
Interesting! Will definitely check that out
I want to play PS1 and PS2 classics on my travels on my switch but i am super un-tech-savy and would love some help, please! Would that be possible?
Thanks!
I had a video tutorial but it got taken down. If you're interested in Switchroot Android and L4T Ubuntu I'd suggest you join the Switchroot Discord.
@@TritonusRaven Hey man, I mainly wanna play PSOne games and Simpsons hit and run on my switch, that sorta thing 😁
So what’s the best hardware to play ps1 (besides the original ps1)? I want to play MGS so bad.
Should I wait for the new all in one console? Or buy a switch?
Depends on your budget. The PlayStation Classic is great if you don't wanna spend so much money and you can even play other consoles such as N64 and Dreamcast.
PSP
There's going to be a re-release for mgs collection vol.1 this year on switch, PC, PS5, Xbox. Mgs 2 and 3 are going to be the vita ports in that collection.
Does anyone know if you can also emulate on the lite?
You can with a modchip.
@@TritonusRaven nice, may i know how?
Here's some more info th-cam.com/video/GBDjhUuH3Kc/w-d-xo.html
@@TritonusRaven thanks!, i'll check it up soon:D
pcsx2 when you came to ns :)
Hmm, I was trying this last summer and I was having a lot of trouble getting *anything,* even 2d PSX games, to run at full speed on my Switch. All my other emulators work fine, and I didn't really want to overclock just for PSX games - plus, I don't even think OC would help. The way they ran wasn't like they weren't at full speed, it was more like something was happening to force it to stutter after every 5 or 6 frames regularly.
I eventually got really frustrated because my friggen (New) 3ds can run *all* PSX games I throw at it at around 80% speed, which is more than enough for things like Armored Core: Project Phantasma and stuff, and AC isn't even that resource intensive as far as PSX games go! When I was able to run VAGRANT STORY, of all things, at 100% speed on my 3ds after some tweaking and I was still having trouble just getting my switch to even run PSX games at all on Atmosphere CFW, I got so frustrated that I gave up and just installed android for duckstation. Duckstation on Android was able to play everything at full speed, but I really dislike using android on my switch, so that didn't really go far...
I'll try it again tomorrow - it's a little too late tonight for me to get deep into the emulation-on-switch weeds - maybe I'll be able to actually figure it out this time.
Any tips for general settings? Should I use the native ePSXe emulator on Atmosphere, or the PSXcore in RetroArch? I'd really like to be able to move from my 3ds as far as portable PS1 gaming goes. My Steam Deck is basically my portable GameCube, Xbox, and Ps2. But the Deck is a little *too* heavy for me to carry around in my pocket, unlike my Switch, so I usually don't bother emulating anything before 6th gen on the Deck simply because of its weight and hindrance in portability. I'll carry around the 2lbs of steam deck for a portable PS2 or OGXbox or GameCube, but I'd really like to instead lug around the 0.8lb Switch for 5th gen consoles. I'd be elated if I could actually get it to work - I felt like I was literally about to start losing my sanity when I was trying to figure it out last time.
Even more frustrating is that my Switch can emulate GameCube at near full speed in Atmosphere, as well as PPSSPP with upscaling to 720p at full speed - it should have DEFINITELY been able to run PSX games...eh, I'll try again tomorrow after work.
Wish me luck, I guess.
Good luck!
I´m using latest retroarch nightly build and games are playing fine on my switch with pcsxrearmed, make sure to dump the ps1 bios for best results.
Did anyone manage to get MGS twin snakes to run on dolphin??
I haven't tried it yet. Will do when I have the chance.
@@TritonusRaven cool
Lookin forward to hear ur expertise, love ur vids
Thanks man appreciate it 😊👍
so can somebody show me how to do it from scratch
I had a tutorial for modding the Switch but TH-cam took it down.
Dang sorry to hear that
I wanna see less gatekeeping in Switch homebrew actually
Yeah rivalry isn't really good for homebrew.
Silent hill 1 PSX
A true classic!
In short, just get a Deck ...
Or a new phone but Switch is cheaper.
No
This only makes sense if you already have a switch tbh
@@darkgladiator27 It only makes sense if you have a Switch AND don't plan to use online, or risk buying any eShop digital purchases, in fear of losing your account. Whether Nintendo fans want to accept it or not, digital is the future, especially for the Switch 2, as most 3rd party developers won't pay the Switch cart tax on 64GB+ carts, so graphically demanding games will only put half the game on cart, and the rest will be digital download.
"Switch is cheaper"
Switch is only "cheaper" in the very short term, but value-wise, it's far worse in the long term compared to a $399 Steam Deck (and a $50 512GB Micro SD), especially when you consider the insane amount of emulation potential a Deck has compared to a Switch.
@@gdot1803 hey man I was just wondering if you would recommend the highest priced steam deck off the website or should I just look into getting the 64gb one
