    These shoes are awesome! Made real aggressive rocky trails. The founder of On created them for wet rocky conditions. He would run in the Swiss alps and the designed them based upon the challenges he faced. Definitely made for winter and cold running

      @@OldManRunner That’s great to know. Thank you.
      I tried on the non-waterproof version in the store and took them out for a little run and they felt like a perfect fit for me. I hope that the waterproof version does not fit tighter.
      I’ve been running nearly every day in my V2 Cloudstratus since I bought them new this summer. I usually go 5-10km. They have been super comfortable and easy to run in. I’ve had no soreness of any kind. I can even run without socks and they are just as comfortable.

      @@iakona23 On say to size up in this shoe, so if you can do… I wear them all over the place… I just walked in them across a gravel path and onto a polished stone floor in a Hotel… and yes… they picked up gravel in the way… I could hear them clack clacking as I walked through the lobby! Still a favourite shoe…

      @@OldManRunner Do you notice any negative effects from the waterproof version such as lacking ventilation or trapping perspiration inside or anything like that?
      I had some walnut shell fragments jammed into the center of my Cloudstratus when I came in yesterday evening, so I know the feeling. But it’s actually pretty rare that I get rocks or anything else jammed in there.

    • @OldManRunner
      @OldManRunner  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@iakona23 I guess they don’t have great ventilation, but as I only run in them in terrible weather and Ireland isn’t terribly warm I don’t find it problematic

    I bought the Cloudventure waterproof 2021 V3 in black. I think that I will use it as a general shoe for cold and wet weather. It is classy looking enough in black that it can be worn in social settings with dress clothes.
    I haven’t tested it running off road much or in wet conditions, but on pavement running it’s a bit of a brick. I am also not that thrilled with how it fits me. I wear 12.5 U.S. in the Cloudstratus V2 and I had plenty of room in that shoe and the fit is wonderful. But I had to go up to size 13 U.S. in the Cloudventure waterproof and even then it’s a bit tight in the forefoot and toe box while being loose in the heel. It’s possible that the fit will improve after it breaks in. I may have to leave an additional comment after I have more time to test the shoe in different running conditions. My recommendation is to get the shoe in the black color and then wear it in social settings in cold and wet weather in addition to using it as a running shoe.

    • @OldManRunner
      @OldManRunner  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It does loosen up after time. I wear mine every day on the beach and it gets better every day. You are right, it is a bit of a brick on the road. If I run in the road in then it’s only to get to the trail… Getting them in black is a good idea. I have a pair of Cloudflyer WP’s in black for exactly that… but I prefer these. Somehow the white is staying clean…

      @@OldManRunner Hey, thank you for the reply. I really enjoy your videos. I had not even heard of On Running as a brand until June of this year, and now I have the Cloudstratus V2 and the Cloudventure V3 waterproof. I’ve also got an Altra Escalante 2.5 that I am enjoying so far, and a Vivobarefoot Primus Knit FG that is a supercool experience because of all of the sensory input to the brain from being able to feel the ground while wearing shoes on different surfaces.

      @@iakona23 I’m too chicken to wear the barefoot shoes! But I have a pair of Altra’s on the radar… and On are bringing out some mad shoe called the Cloudmonster… have a few end of year videos nearly ready to go and then a new shoe arrives this week for review early January… glad you enjoy the videos.

      @@OldManRunner You should try some barefoot shoes or sandals just to walk around in. The feeling is wonderful because you are getting so much sensory information to the brain. I absolutely love those Vivobarefoot shoes and I feel so much safer when I do anything like walk around on rough ground, go up and down narrow stairs, climb up
      And down a ladder, etc. it’s absolutely wonderful. I can highly recommend the Vivobarefoot Primus Knit FG.

    • @iakona23
      @iakona23 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@OldManRunner The Altra Escalante 2.5 have a stretchy upper material that feels just like a soft indoor slipper. These are very lightweight and ultra comfortable shoes with a good fit and a wide toe box and a surprisingly springy cushioning from the ego midsole. If there is a weakness it is the traction in wet conditions. It’s not great and so you have to be mindful when running on wet pavement. But overall it’s a great and ultra comfortable and light and flexible experience. I think that people even run marathons and other races in these shoes. The Escalante 3.0 coming out in June looks even better.

    Enjoyed the new version of CloudVenture review!! Top-notch video review!!! Do you think these shoes will work well for runs in light-snow? I worry about the weight, though. [BTW, Loved the original CloudVenture review that was done in the evening/night-time, I think. You can buy previous versions via the on-classics page, since you like it so much.] Impressive you have both CloudFlyer WP and CloudVenture WP!! I think the shoe would be great in light snow… the tongue is longer and goes a little more up the leg than before… which helps. If it snows here I will be straight out in them. I filmed the original video in the morning… I had planned to film at the same time and place and see the difference and whether I had got better at filming, but the tide was in… and I had to wait a few hours… would happily review anything On would send… I decided to get some more Soar jackets so will make another video in a few weeks…if there is anything you want me to look at let me know! Hello there! Thank you so much for the informative video! I just got done watching your review on the cloud flyer waterproof. I cannot decide between the two. My husband will be walking at work in rainy conditions. Grass, gravel, concrete. He also has an arch in his foot. These both seem like good options. Any suggestions?

    • @OldManRunner
      @OldManRunner  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Denise. I rarely use the Cloudflyer Waterproof whereas I am in the Cloudventure every day. That might be down to the colourway (I don't care for the black) and the fact that I love making the videos of the Cloudventure and have affection for it, as the beach is where I would walk my dog Jasper. Having said that the Cloudflyer is a little softer underfoot. But if your husband walks on grass then I would suggest the extra grip of the Cloudventure...Gravel is tricky in most On shoes as they tend to catch the stones in the clouds...but its not a big problem when walking as much as it is when running...

      Hello Mary Lou. I would. I have 44 pairs of running shoes and I always walk in these and before that the previous version. It doesn’t snow much in Ireland but these would be perfect. In many ways that’s what waterproof shoes are best for.

      Hello Anna Lena. I would not run in this shoe with a foot injury. I walk in the shoe every day and I love it, but it is firm underfoot with not a lot of give. When I had a knee injury I ran in the Nike Invincible Run Flyknit… it is very bouncy but worked for me in allowing my knee to recover while running with minimum pain. Hope this helps!

      @@annalena6382 I find it very comfortable for walking… typically the stresses are less than when running. I walked about 8km in them today without any difficulty and the same yesterday and the day before. On-Running have a good returns policy.
